The battery grid of claim 1, wherein the plurality of first vertical grid wires radially extend from the top element to the bottom element. 4. The battery grid of claim 1, wherein the battery grid comprises at least one rounded corner between the top element and one of the first or second side elements. 5. The battery grid of claim 1, wherein the top element meets the first or second side elements at an angle such that at least a portion of the top element is not perpendicular to at least one of the first and second side elements. 6. A battery grid comprising: a top element, a bottom element, a first side element, and a second side element defining a frame;a current collector coupled to the top element;a plurality of grid wires provided within the frame and defining a plurality of open areas, including at least two first linear vertical wire members radially extending from the top element to the bottom element, a plurality of linear horizontal grid wires provided between the first side element and second side element, the first linear vertical wire members and horizontal grid wires being joined at a plurality of nodes, wherein between the first linear vertical wire members at least one second linear vertical wire member extends from the top element toward the bottom element, intersecting a plurality of linear horizontal grid wires before terminating at one of the plurality of linear horizontal grid wires prior to reaching the bottom element, and at least one third linear vertical wire member extends from the bottom element toward the top element, intersecting a plurality of linear horizontal grid wires before terminating at one of the plurality of linear horizontal grid wires prior to reaching the top element, wherein the second and third linear vertical wire members are asymmetrically distributed across the grid. 7. The battery grid of claim 6, wherein the horizontal grid wires contiguously extend from the first side element or the second side element. 8. The battery grid of claim 6, wherein the horizontal grid wires contiguously extend between the first side element and the second side element. 9. The battery grid of claim 6, wherein the plurality of grid wires include a fourth wire member extending from the top element toward the first side element, wherein the fourth wire member intersects a third plurality of the linear horizontal grid wires, but does not intersect the first side element. 10. The battery grid of claim 9, wherein the plurality of grid wires include a fifth wire member extending from the top element toward the second side element, wherein the fifth wire member intersects a fourth plurality of the linear horizontal grid wires, but does not intersect the second side element. 11. The battery grid of claim 6, wherein the plurality of grid wires comprise: a fourth wire member extending from the top element toward the first side element, wherein the fourth wire member intersects a plurality of the linear horizontal grid wires, but does not intersect the first side element; anda fifth wire member extending from the top element toward the second side element, wherein the fifth wire member intersects a plurality of the linear horizontal grid wires, but does not intersect the second side element. 12. The battery grid of claim 6, wherein the second linear wire member terminates at one of the horizontal grid wires at a segment of the horizontal grid wire between consecutive nodes provided along the horizontal grid wire. 13. The battery grid of claim 12, wherein the third linear wire member terminates at one of the horizontal grid wires at a segment of the horizontal grid wire between consecutive nodes provided along the horizontal grid wire. 14. The battery grid of claim 6, wherein the plurality of linear horizontal grid wires include a first horizontal grid wire and a second horizontal grid wire, the at least one second linear wire member intersects a first segment of the first horizontal grid wire between consecutive nodes provided along the first horizontal grid wire, and the at least one second linear wire member contacts and terminates at a second segment of the second horizontal grid wire between consecutive nodes provided along the second horizontal grid wire. 15. The battery grid of claim 14, wherein the plurality of linear horizontal grid wires include a third horizontal grid wire and a fourth horizontal grid wire, the at least one third linear wire member intersects a first segment of the third horizontal grid wire between consecutive nodes provided along the third horizontal grid wire, and the at least one third linear wire member contacts and terminates at a second segment of the fourth horizontal grid wire between consecutive nodes provided along the second horizontal grid wire. 16. The battery grid of claim 18, wherein a plurality of first wire members intersect one of the plurality of wire segments between consecutive nodes, but does not extend on the top element side of the first horizontal wire member.
