An implant for marking an area within a surgically formed cavity of a living body, comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the matrix material configured to be elastically compressible and formable to fit the shape and size of the surgically formed cavity in the living body, and conf
1. An implant for marking an area within a surgically formed cavity of a living body, comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the matrix material configured to be elastically compressible and formable to fit the shape and size of the surgically formed cavity in the living body, and configured to fill the cavity and support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material. 2. The implant of claim 1, wherein the marking material is a dye, and the matrix material and the marking material are configured such that the marking material leaches into tissue surrounding the surgically formed cavity from the matrix material. 3. The implant of claim 1, the marking material being contained within the matrix material. 4. The implant of claim 1, comprising at least one substance selected from the group consisting of medicinal substances, therapeutic substances, and diagnostic substances. 5. The implant of claim 1, comprising at least one substance selected from the group consisting of radiation materials, antibiotics, chemotherapies, cancer therapeutics, hemostatic materials, and hormone therapeutics. 6. The implant of claim 1, wherein the matrix material is at least partially biosorbable. 7. The implant of claim 1, the matrix material includes an outer shell containing both biosorbable material and nonabsorbable material. 8. The implant of claim 7, wherein the outer shell is configured to form a skeletal outer shell after a resorption of the biosorbable material. 9. The implant of claim 7, wherein the outer shell comprises compressed matrix material. 10. The implant of claim 1, wherein the matrix material is self-expanding. 11. An implant for insertion into a cavity of a living body, comprising: a matrix material formable to fit the shape and size of the cavity in the living body, configured to fill the cavity and support tissue surrounding the cavity, the matrix material having an outer shell containing both biosorbable material and nonabsorbable material, wherein the outer shell is configured to form a skeletal outer shell after a resorption of the biosorbable material; anda marking material coupled to the matrix material. 12. The implant of claim 11, wherein the nonabsorbable material of the outer shell comprises monofilament polypropylene fibers. 13. The implant of claim 11, wherein the resorption of the biosorbable material occurs in situ in the cavity of the living body. 14. The implant of claim 11, wherein the matrix material is configured to be elastically compressible and self-expanding. 15. The implant of claim 11, wherein the marking material is a dye, and the matrix material and the marking material are configured such that the marking material leaches into tissue surrounding the cavity from the matrix material. 16. The implant of claim 11, the marking material being contained within the matrix material. 17. The implant of claim 16, wherein the marking material includes at least one radiographic marker. 18. The implant of claim 11, comprising at least one substance selected from the group consisting of medicinal substances, therapeutic substances, and diagnostic substances. 19. The implant of claim 11, comprising at least one substance selected from the group consisting of radiation materials, antibiotics, chemotherapies, cancer therapeutics, hemostatic materials, and hormone therapeutics.
