초록

Methods and systems for controlling operation of exhaust of an engine including a particulate filter are provided. One example method includes generating vacuum during engine operation, and storing the vacuum. The method further includes, during or after engine shutdown, drawing ambient air through the particulate filter via the vacuum.

1. A method for a turbocharged engine, comprising: generating vacuum during engine operation;storing the vacuum;during or after engine shutdown, drawing ambient air through a particulate filter via the stored vacuum and closing a tailpipe valve downstream of the particulate filter, the drawing including drawing the ambient air from an intake system, through an LP-EGR system to the particulate filter to regenerate the particulate filter, and through an HP-EGR system to an intake manifold. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein storing the vacuum includes storing the vacuum in the intake manifold of the engine. 3. The method of claim 1 further comprising regenerating the particulate filter with the ambient air drawn to the particulate filter, responsive to engine rest conditions via a controller. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein drawing ambient air includes drawing the ambient air, by the vacuum, in a reverse flow direction as compared to a direction of exhaust flow during an engine running operation. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising regenerating the particulate filter during engine running conditions by flowing ambient air through the particulate filter in a first direction, and regenerating the particulate filter after engine shutdown including regenerating the particulate filter during engine rest by drawing ambient air through the particulate filter in a second direction opposite to the first direction. 6. The method of claim 1, further comprising continuing regeneration during and after engine shutdown via the vacuum. 7. The method of claim 1, further comprising, via a controller, adjusting an engine operating parameter during an engine start subsequent to the engine shutdown, based on a particulate filter regeneration during or after the engine shutdown. 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the engine operating parameter is an air-fuel ratio of an initial combustion of the engine start. 9. A method for a turbocharged engine, comprising: generating vacuum in an intake manifold during engine operation;storing the vacuum;during or after engine shutdown, drawing ambient air through a particulate filter via the stored vacuum, drawing the ambient air including drawing the ambient air in from a tailpipe, through the particulate filter, and then through an EGR system to the intake manifold. 10. The method of claim 9, further comprising adjusting an amount of the ambient air during engine rest conditions by adjusting a valve of the engine. 11. The method of claim 10, further comprising, during or after engine shutdown, adjusting the amount of ambient air to the particulate filter via a controller based on an exhaust gas sensor. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein adjusting the amount of ambient air includes adjusting the valve based on a first exhaust gas oxygen sensor located between the engine and the particulate filter while ambient air is being drawn through the particulate filter during engine rest conditions, and where the method further comprises: during engine running filter regeneration, adjusting flow to the particulate filter based on a second exhaust gas oxygen sensor located between the particulate filter and the tailpipe. 13. A system for controlling operation of exhaust of an engine in a vehicle, comprising: an intake manifold upstream of a cylinder of the engine;a turbocharger coupled to the engine;a particulate filter downstream of the cylinder; andan electronic controller with instructions stored in non-transitory memory configured to adjust engine actuators to: generate vacuum during engine operation,store the vacuum in the intake manifold, andduring or after an engine shutdown, draw ambient air through the particulate filter via the stored vacuum. 14. The system of claim 13, wherein the system further comprises one or more valves, and where the electronic controller is further configured to adjust an amount of ambient air drawn through the particulate filter by adjusting the one or more valves. 15. The system of claim 14, wherein the one or more valves includes at least one of a high pressure EGR valve, a low pressure EGR valve, and a turbocharger wastegate valve. 16. The system of claim 14, further comprising, an LP-EGR system, and an HP-EGR system, where the electronic controller is configured to adjust the one or more valves to draw the ambient air in through an intake system, through the LP-EGR system to the particulate filter to regenerate the particulate filter, and through the HP-EGR system to the intake manifold, via the vacuum in the intake manifold. 17. The system of claim 14, further comprising an EGR system, where the electronic controller is configured to adjust the one or more valves to draw the ambient air in through a tailpipe of the vehicle, through the particulate filter to regenerate the particulate filter, and through the EGR system to the intake manifold, via the vacuum in the intake manifold. 18. The system of claim 14, where the electronic controller is configured to initiate regeneration of the particulate filter during engine running conditions by flowing ambient air through the particulate filter in a first direction, and continue the regeneration after engine shutdown by drawing the ambient air through the particulate filter via the vacuum by flowing ambient air through the particulate filter in a second, reverse, direction. 19. The system of claim 13, where the electronic controller is configured to commence regeneration of the particulate filter during engine running conditions, and continue the regeneration during and after engine shutdown via the vacuum.
