A closure device for closing an opening in a body lumen comprising: a delivery sheath;a first anchor and a second anchor configured to engage tissue surrounding the opening of the body lumen;a cleat configured to couple with the first anchor and the second anchor and configured to be disposed within and move longitudinally with respect to the delivery sheath, said cleat having an outer peripheral surface each anchor including a tip and a collar portion disposed proximal the tip, with a first elongate member and a second elongate member extending proximally from the collar portions of the first and second anchors, respectively, to a proximal end of the delivery sheath, said collar portions of said first and said second anchors being configured to lockingly engage with a first recess and a second recess of said cleat, an inner surface of said first recess and an inner surface of said second recess configured to receive said first and second anchors to prevent said first and second anchors from proximal movement while allowing said first and second elongate members, respectively, with said tips being disposed beyond said outer peripheral surface of said cleat. 2. The closure device of claim 1, further comprising the cleat having a third recess configured to receive a third anchor. 3. The closure device of claim 1, further comprising the first and second recesses and the first and second anchors being configured to permanently lock together. 4. The closure device of claim 1, further comprising the first and second anchors being configured to lock into the first and second recesses with a snap-fit configuration. 5. The closure device of claim 1, the first elongate member and the second elongate member being configured to pass through and be slidable relative to the cleat. 6. The closure device of claim 5, wherein the first elongate member and the second elongate member comprises superelastic wires. 7. The closure device of claim 1, further comprising a mandrel being configured to selectively couple to the cleat. 8. The closure device of claim 7, wherein the mandrel comprises a hollow metal shank. 9. The closure device of claim 1, wherein the cleat comprises bioabsorbable plastic. 10. The closure device of claim 1, wherein the first or second anchors comprise bioabsorbable plastic. 11. The closure device of claim 1, wherein each of the first and second anchors comprises a hook portion configured to engage tissue and a collar portion configured to couple with the cleat. 12. The closure device of claim 1, wherein the first and second recesses each include flared distal openings. 13. The closure device of claim 1, wherein the first and second recesses each include a proximal opening, a distal opening, an inner surface, and an annular flange disposed between the proximal opening and the distal opening, the inner surfaces tapering to a more narrow diameter from the annular flange to the proximal opening, and flaring to a broader diameter from the annular flange to the distal opening. 14. The closure device of claim 1, wherein the first and second recesses each include a proximal opening, the proximal openings having diameters greater than a diameter of the first elongate member or a diameter of the second elongate member, and the proximal openings having diameters less than narrowest portions of the collar portions of the first and second anchors. 15. The closure device of claim 1, wherein the collar portions of each of the first and second anchors have a conical frustum shape, and wherein each of the first and second recesses include locking portions having a corresponding shape configured to provide snap-fit locking of the first and second anchors into the first and second recesses, respectively. 16. The closure device of claim 1, wherein inner surfaces of the first and second recesses each include a single flange, the single flange of each of the first and second recesses being configured to engage with the collar portions of the first and second anchors as the first and second anchors are received into the first and second recesses, respectively. 17. A method of closing an opening in a body lumen comprising: advancing a closure device at least partially into the body lumen opening, the closure device comprising: a delivery sheath;a first anchor and a second anchor configured to engage tissue surrounding the opening of the body lumen;a cleat configured to couple with the first anchor and the second anchor, the cleat being disposed within the delivery sheath, said cleat having an outer peripheral surfacesaid first and second anchors being disposed within the delivery sheath distal of the cleat, each anchor including a tip and a collar portion, said first and second anchors being configured to lockingly engage with a first recess and a second recess of said cleat, an inner surface of said first recess and an inner surface of said second recess configured to receive said first and second anchors to prevent said first and said second anchors from proximal movement while allowing a first elongate member and a second elongate member, with said tips being disposed beyond said outer peripheral surface of said cleat and with a proximal end of each anchor terminating distal a proximal surface of the cleat;deploying the one or more anchors from a distal end of the delivery sheath; andengaging a distal surface of the body lumen with the one or more anchors. 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising advancing the cleat in a distal direction over the first or second elongate members coupled at a distal end to the first or second anchor to pull the anchors and engaged tissue together. 19. The method of claim 18, wherein advancing the cleat in a distal direction comprises advancing a mandrel coupled to the cleat in a distal direction relative to the first or second elongate member and one or more anchors. 20. The method of claim 19, further comprising locking the anchors into correspondingly-shaped recesses within the cleat. 21. The method of claim 20, further comprising uncoupling the mandrel from the cleat. 22. The method of claim 21, further comprising trimming the first and second elongate members proximal of the cleat. 23. The method of claim 22, further comprising retracting the delivery sheath, the first or second elongate members, and mandrel away from the body lumen. 24. The method of claim 23, wherein the first or second elongate member comprise super elastic wires, the cleat comprises bioabsorbable plastic, and the first or second anchors comprise bioabsorbable plastic. 25. A closure device for closing an opening in a body lumen comprising: a delivery sheath;a cleat configured to be disposed within and move longitudinally with respect to the delivery sheath;a plurality of anchors configured to engage tissue surrounding the opening in the body lumen, each anchor of the plurality of anchors being configured to directly lock within a recess of a plurality of recesses with a proximal end of each anchor of the plurality of anchors terminating distal a proximal surface of the cleat; anda plurality of elongate members extending through the plurality of recesses, each elongate member being received within and fixedly attached to a portion of an anchor of the plurality of anchors and extending from a single anchor of said plurality of anchors through a single recess of the plurality of recesses, said plurality of elongate members being formed of a shape memory material, said plurality of anchors being formed of a bioabsorbable, bioerodable, or bioresorbable material. 26. The closure device of claim 25, further comprising the first and second anchors being configured to lock into the respective recess of the plurality of recesses with a snap-fit configuration. 27. The closure device of claim 25, further comprising a mandrel being configured to selectively couple to the cleat. 28. The closure device of claim 27, wherein the mandrel comprises a hollow metal shank. 29. The closure device of claim 28, wherein the first or second elongate members comprise superelastic wires. 30. The closure device of claim 25, wherein the cleat comprises bioabsorbable plastic. 31. The closure device of claim 25, wherein the first or second anchors comprise bioabsorbable plastic. 32. A closure device for closing an opening in a body lumen comprising: a delivery sheath;a first anchor and a second anchor configured to engage tissue surrounding the opening of the body lumen;a cleat configured to couple with the first anchor and the second anchor and configured to be disposed within and move longitudinally with respect to the delivery sheath, the cleat comprising a first recess and a second recess;each anchor comprising a hook portion and a collar portion configured to lockingly engage with the first recess and the second recess, an inner surface of said first recess and an inner surface of said second recess configured to receive said first and second anchors to prevent said first and second anchors from proximal movement, with a proximal end of each anchor terminating distal a proximal surface of the cleat; anda first elongate member and a second elongate member extending from the collar portions of the first and second anchors, respectively, each said first and second elongate member extending through said first and said second recesses, respectively, and being slidable relative to said cleat, said first and second recesses preventing passage of the collar portions, said first and second elongate members being formed of a shape memory material, said first and second anchors being formed of a bioabsorbable, bioerodable, or bioresorbable material. 33. The closure device of claim 32, further comprising each of the anchors being configured to lock into the respective recess of the first and second recesses with a snap-fit configuration. 34. The closure device of claim 33, wherein the first or second elongate members comprise superelastic wires. 35. The closure device of claim 32, further comprising a mandrel being configured to selectively couple to the cleat. 36. The closure device of claim 35, wherein the mandrel comprises a hollow metal shank. 37. The closure device of claim 32, wherein the cleat comprises bioabsorbable plastic. 38. The closure device of claim 32, wherein the first or second anchors comprise bioabsorbable plastic.
