Pump cassettes, wound-treatment apparatuses and methods. In some embodiments, a pump cassette comprises: a pump body having a pump chamber, an inlet valve in fluid communication with the pump chamber, and an outlet valve in fluid communication with the pump chamber; a diaphragm coupled to the pump body such that the diaphragm is movable to vary a volume in the pump chamber; and an identifier configured to store one or more properties of the pump cassette such that the identifier is readable by an automated reader to determine the one or more properties. In some embodiments, the pump cassette is configured to be removably coupled to a wound-treatment apparatus having an actuator such that the actuator can be activated to move the diaphragm.

1. A pump cassette for use with a wound-treatment apparatus, comprising: a pump body having a chamber with a variable volume, an inlet valve in fluid communication with the chamber and adapted to receive fluid disposed in a fluid container, and an outlet valve in fluid communication with the chamber
1. A pump cassette for use with a wound-treatment apparatus, comprising: a pump body having a chamber with a variable volume, an inlet valve in fluid communication with the chamber and adapted to receive fluid disposed in a fluid container, and an outlet valve in fluid communication with the chamber and adapted to deliver the fluid to a wound;a diaphragm movably coupled to the pump body to vary the volume of the chamber in response to a mechanical force; andan identifier configured to store information relating to at least one property of the pump cassette, wherein the at least one property is related to at least one of the diaphragm, the pump chamber, and the fluid disposed in the fluid container, the identifier being readable by an automated reader to provide the information;wherein the pump cassette is configured to be removably coupled to the wound-treatment apparatus and adapted to receive a signal from the wound-treatment apparatus to provide the mechanical force to the diaphragm. 2. The pump cassette of claim 1, wherein the identifier comprises at least one of a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag, a barcode, or a magnetic stripe. 3. The pump cassette of claim 2, wherein the automated reader is disposed in the wound-treatment apparatus. 4. The pump cassette of claim 1, wherein the identifier is a label. 5. The pump cassette of claim 1, wherein the information relating to the pump cassette comprises a code adapted to be read by a controller programmed to provide the signal. 6. The pump cassette of claim 1, where the at least one property related to diaphragm includes one or more of the diameter of the diaphragm, the area of the diaphragm, the stroke of the diaphragm, the change in volume in the chamber caused by a stroke of the diaphragm, and the identity of the fluid. 7. The pump cassette of claim 1, wherein the wound-treatment apparatus includes an actuator adapted to be removably coupled to the diaphragm and operable to provide mechanical force to the diaphragm in response to the signal provided by the wound-treatment apparatus. 8. The pump cassette of claim 1, further comprising: an actuator removably coupled to the diaphragm and operable to provide mechanical force to the diaphragm in response to a signal provided by the world-treatment apparatus. 9. The pump cassette of claim 1, wherein the inlet valve and outlet valve each comprises at least one of a ball valve, a duckbill valve, or an umbrella valve. 10. The pump cassette of claim 1, wherein the diaphragm is operable to alternately increase and decrease the volume of the chamber. 11. The pump cassette of claim 10, wherein the inlet valve is open and the outlet valve is closed when the diaphragm increases the volume of the chamber. 12. The pump cassette of claim 10, wherein the outlet valve is open and the inlet valve is closed when the diaphragm decreases the volume of the chamber. 13. The pump cassette of claim 10, wherein the wound-treatment apparatus includes an actuator adapted to be removably coupled to the diaphragm and operable to provide mechanical force to the diaphragm in response to the signal provided by the wound-treatment apparatus to alternately increase and decrease the volume of the chamber. 14. The pump cassette of claim 1, further comprising: a conduit having a first end coupled to the inlet valve of the pump body, and a second end configured to be coupled to a fluid container. 15. The pump cassette of claim 14, further comprising: a fluid container coupled to the second end of the conduit such that the fluid container is in fluid communication with the inlet valve of the pump body; anda fluid disposed in the fluid container. 16. The pump cassette of claim 1, further comprising: a conduit having a first end coupled to the outlet valve of the pump body, and a second end configured to be coupled to a wound dressing. 17. The pump cassette of claim 1, further comprising: a support device coupled to the pump body and a receptacle configured to receive a fluid container. 18. A wound-treatment apparatus, comprising: a housing configured to be coupled to a pump cassette having a diaphragm and an identifier configured to store information relating to the pump cassette, wherein the information is related to at least one of the diaphragm, the pump chamber, and the fluid disposed in the fluid container;a vacuum source disposed within the housing and operable to apply negative pressure to a wound through a wound dressing;an actuator adapted to be removably coupled to the diaphragm and operable to provide mechanical force to the diaphragm in response to a signal provided by the wound-treatment apparatus; andan automated reader configured to read the identifier when the cassette is coupled to the housing to read the information. 19. A wound-treatment apparatus comprising: a housing configured to be coupled to one or more pump cassettes, each having a diaphragm and an identifier configured to store information relating to the one or more pump cassettes;a vacuum source disposed within the housing and operable to apply negative pressure to a wound through a wound dressing;a plurality of actuators adapted to be removably coupled to the diaphragms and operable to provide mechanical force to the diaphragms in response to a signal provided by the wound-treatment apparatus; andan automated reader configured to read the identifiers when the one or more pump cassettes are coupled to the housing to read the information; wherein the wound-treatment apparatus is configured such that if the one or more pump cassettes are coupled to the housing, the plurality of actuators can be activated to move the diaphragms. 20. The wound-treatment apparatus of claim 19, further comprising: a controller coupled to the plurality of actuators and configured to activate the actuators. 21.
