The navigation device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the further action executed by the processor includes the processor causing the navigation device to establish an internet communication link with a web-address associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 5. The navigation device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the further action executed by the processor includes the processor determining a navigation route to a location associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 6. The navigation device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the further action executed by the processor includes the processor causing the navigation device to establish a communication link using a phone number associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 7. The navigation device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the further action executed by the processor includes the processor causing the navigation device to establish an internet communication link with a web-address associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 8. The navigation device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the further action executed by the processor includes the processor determining a navigation route to a location associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 9. The navigation device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the executed further action includes displaying on the integrated input and display device a list of POIs near to the POI associated with the selected icon. 10. The navigation device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the processor is arranged to display of a list of POI types to the user on the integrated input and display device, and, upon selection of one or more of the POI types in the list, to display touch selectable icons superimposed on the map information for stored POIs of the selected one or more POI types. 11. A method, comprising: storing points of interest (POIs) in a memory of a navigation device;displaying at least one of the stored POIs on an integrated input and display device of the navigation device as a touch selectable icon superimposed on map information, the icon being selectable by a user to select the POI of the stored POIs associated with the icon;triggering, directly or indirectly, an action upon selection of a displayed icon, the triggered action being a display of a function window on the integrated input and display device, the function window comprising a menu list with a plurality of touch selectable elements, each of the touch selectable elements being associated with a further action related to the POI associated with the selected icon; andexecuting, upon selection of one of the touch selectable elements, the further action associated with the selected element. 12. The method as claimed in claim 11, comprising displaying on the integrated input and display device, upon the selection of a displayed icon, an information window comprising information related to the POI associated with the selected icon, wherein the function window is displayed upon a touch selection of the information in the information window. 13. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein the executed further action includes causing the navigation device to establish a communication link using a phone number associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 14. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein the executed further action includes causing the navigation device to establish an internet communication link with a web-address associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 15. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein the executed further action includes determining a navigation route to a location associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 16. The method as claimed in claim 11, wherein the executed further action includes causing the navigation device to establish a communication link using a phone number associated with the POI associated with the selected icon. 17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium which stores a set of instructions which when executed performs a method, the method executed by the set of instructions comprising: storing points of interest (POIs) in a memory of a navigation device;displaying at least one of the stored POIs on an integrated input and display device of the navigation device as a touch selectable icon superimposed on map information, the icon being selectable by a user to select the POI of the stored POIs associated with the icon;triggering, directly or indirectly, an action upon selection of a displayed icon, the triggered action being a display of a function window on the integrated input and display device, the function window comprising a menu list with a plurality of touch selectable elements, each of the touch selectable elements being associated with a further action related to the POI associated with the selected icon; andexecuting, upon selection of one of the touch selectable elements, the further action associated with the selected element. 22. The computer-readable medium as claimed in claim 21, wherein the method executed by the set of instructions comprises displaying of a list of POI types to the user on the integrated input and display device, and, upon selection of one or more of the POI types in the list, displaying touch selectable icons superimposed on the map information for stored POIs of the selected one or more POI types. 23. The computer-readable medium as claimed in claim 21, wherein the method executed by the set of instructions comprises displaying on the integrated input and display device, upon the selection of a displayed icon, an information window comprising information related to the POI associated with the selected icon, wherein the function window is displayed upon a touch selection of the information in the information window. 24. The computer-readable medium as claimed in claim 21, wherein the executed further action includes one of: causing the navigation device to establish a communication link using a phone number associated with the POI associated with the selected icon;causing the navigation device to establish an internet communication link with a web-address associated with the POI associated with the selected icon;determining a navigation route to a location associated with the POI associated with the selected icon; anddisplaying on the integrated input and display device a list of POIs near to the POI associated with the selected icon.
