The quick-connect fitting according to claim 1, where the retaining ring has a retaining ring inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the tubular sealing element of the male fitting and a retaining ring outer diameter larger than an inside diameter of the cylindrical cavity of the female fitting, andwhere the female fitting is a crosslinked polymer and a shape memory property of the crosslinked polymer of the cylindrical cavity holds the retaining ring in the cylindrical cavity. 9. The quick-connect fitting according to claim 1, where the tube-engaging aperture comprises: a diameter corresponding to the outside diameter of the first tube; anda mouth for receiving the tube into the tube-engaging aperture, where the mouth has an opening smaller than the outside diameter of the first tube.
