A physiological trend monitor has a sensor signal responsive to multiple wavelengths of light transmitted into a tissue site. The transmitted light is detected after attenuation by pulsatile blood flow within the tissue site. A processor has an input responsive to the sensor signal and a physiological parameter output. Features are extracted from the physiological parameter output. Criteria are applied to the features. An alarm output is generated when the criteria are satisfied.
1. A system for monitoring physiological trends, the system comprising: a processor configured to: receive a sensor signal from an optical sensor coupled with a patient, the sensor signal responsive to light attenuated by body tissue of the patient;detect a blood parameter trend based on the sensor
1. A system for monitoring physiological trends, the system comprising: a processor configured to: receive a sensor signal from an optical sensor coupled with a patient, the sensor signal responsive to light attenuated by body tissue of the patient;detect a blood parameter trend based on the sensor signal;generate an audible alarm responsive to a calculated slope of the blood parameter trend; andsuppress the audible alarm responsive to the calculated slope reaching a positive value. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to generate the audible alarm responsive to the calculated slope of the blood parameter trend being negative. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to generate the audible alarm responsive to the calculated slope of the blood parameter trend being zero. 4. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to detect a smoothed blood parameter from the sensor signal. 5. The system of claim 4, wherein the processor is further configured to suppress the audible alarm responsive to the smoothed blood parameter exceeding a threshold. 6. A system for monitoring physiological trends, the system comprising: a processor configured to: receive a sensor signal from an optical sensor coupled with a patient, the sensor signal responsive to light attenuated by body tissue of the patient;determine a trend of blood parameter values based on the sensor signal; andgenerate an audible alarm in response to a calculated slope of the trend reaching a negative or zero value. 7. The system of claim 6, wherein the processor is further configured to suppress the audible alarm responsive to the calculated slope reaching a positive value. 8. The system of claim 6, wherein the processor is further configured to detect a smoothed blood parameter from the sensor signal. 9. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to suppress the audible alarm responsive to the smoothed blood parameter exceeding a threshold. 10. A system for monitoring physiological trends, the system comprising: a processor configured to: receive a sensor signal from an optical sensor coupled with a patient, the sensor signal responsive to light attenuated by body tissue of the patient;determine a blood parameter based on the sensor signal;determine a blood parameter trend based on the sensor signal;generate an audible alarm responsive to the blood parameter and responsive to a calculated slope of the blood parameter trend. 11. The system of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured to generate the audible alarm in response to the calculated slope of the blood parameter trend reaching a negative or zero value. 12. The system of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured to suppress the audible alarm responsive to the calculated slope of the blood parameter trend reaching a positive value. 13. The system of claim 9, wherein the audible alarm is further responsive to the blood parameter reaching a threshold.
