A device according to claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to synchronously operate the plurality of processing units. 3. A device according to claim 1, wherein the processor further includes a flash memory for storing the programs run by the processing units. 4. A device according to claim 3, wherein the processor further includes a program instruction cache interconnecting the flash memory and the processing units. 5. A device according to claim 1, wherein the processing units are arranged so as to exchange data with one another. 6. A device according to claim 1, wherein the processing units are configured to individually communicate with the interface. 7. A device according to claim 1, wherein the interface is configured to receive user input from a keyboard. 8. A device according to claim 1, further comprising a display in communication with the processor for displaying images processed by the processor. 9. A processor for an electronic device, the processor comprising: an interface for receiving images captured by an image sensor included in the electronic device; anda plurality of interconnected processing units configured to process the images received from the image sensor, wherein each of the processing units is configured to individually run programs for processing the images, wherein the programs run by each of the processing units provide effects including each of spatial transformations, artistic brushing, complex synthetic illumination, color transforms, image filtering, and compositing on the captured images. 12. A processor according to claim 11, wherein the processor is configured to synchronously operate the plurality of processing units. 13. A processor according to claim 11, further comprising a flash memory for storing the programs run by the processing units. 14. A processor according to claim 13, further comprising a program instruction cache interconnecting the flash memory and the processing units. 15. A processor according to claim 11, wherein the processing units are arranged so as to exchange data with one another. 16. A processor according to claim 11, wherein the processing units are configured to individually communicate with the interface. 17. A processor according to claim 11, wherein the interface is configured to receive user input from a keyboard. 18.
