A side entry housing for an air cleaner comprising a body construction and a removable cover; (a) the body construction includes an inlet construction forming an inlet end and an outlet construction forming an outlet end; the body construction provides a sealing surface against which a seal member of a filter element compresses to form a radially directed seal, and a stop surface that provides for the seal member to engage when a filter element is seated within the housing; (i) the body construction includes a body member that includes a sidewall having a closed end and an open end and forms an internal volume, wherein the sidewall includes edges that define the open end, and wherein the open end is sufficiently large to accommodate accepting a filter element therethrough so that the open end corresponds to a side entry;(ii) the body member includes a slide mount that enables a filter element to be inserted through the opening and oriented with a seal member compressed against the sealing surface to form a radial seal;(iii) the slide mount includes a ramp having a slide surface angled downwardly from the open end to the closed end so that the slide surface is closer to the inlet end at the open end adjacent the edges than at the closed end;(b) the removable cover is removable from the body construction to expose the open end; (i) the removable cover includes a portion extending toward the internal volume of the body construction when the removable cover closes the open end of the body construction; and(ii) the removable cover forms no part of the sealing surface. 2. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the stop surface is orthogonally angled relative to the sealing surface. 3. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the ramp slopes at an angle of less than 30 degrees. 4. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the ramp slopes at an angle of 5 degrees to 25 degrees. 5. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the ramp slopes at an angle of 10 degrees to 20 degrees. 6. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the portion of the removable cover extending toward the internal volume is constructed to engage a filter element in the internal volume and support the filter element, and wherein if a filter element is not properly seated within the housing with a radially directed seal formed, the cover will be prevented from fitting to the body construction. 7. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein said sidewall is U-shaped. 8. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the removable cover attaches to the body construction by fasteners. 9. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the body construction comprises a mounting bracket. 10. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the sealing surface and the stop are provided as part of the outlet construction. 11. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the sealing surface is an annular surface. 12. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the sealing surface extends parallel to an axial direction of air flow through the side entry housing from the inlet end to the outlet end. 13. A side entry housing according to claim 1, wherein the sidewall includes a plurality of strengthening ribs. 14. A method of installing a filter element into the side entry housing according to claim 1, the method comprising: (a) providing a filter element with a seal member; the filter element including a media pack with first and second opposite flow faces and an outer periphery;(b) removing the removable cover to expose the side entry;(c) orienting the filter element through the side entry and into the internal volume; and(d) placing the removable cover over the side entry. 15. A method according to claim 14 wherein: (a) the step of providing a filter element includes providing a filter element including a media pack having a plurality of flutes; each of the flutes having an upstream portion adjacent to the first flow face and a downstream portion adjacent to the second flow face; selected ones of the flutes being open at the upstream portion and closed at the downstream portion; and selected ones of said flutes being closed at the upstream portion and open at the downstream portion. 16. A method according to claim 14 wherein: (a) the step of providing a filter element with a seal member includes providing a filter element having a frame construction; the frame construction having an extension projecting axially from the second flow face; the seal member being supported by the extension of the frame construction; the seal member forming a radial seal with the housing when the filter element is operably installed in the housing. 17. A method according to claim 14 wherein: (a) the filter element includes a band; and(b) the step of placing the removable cover over the side entry includes engaging the ledge on the cover with a portion of the band. 18. A method according to claim 16 wherein: (a) the step of orienting the filter element through the side entry includes sliding the band on the filter element against the slide surface of the ramp. 19. An air cleaner comprising: (a) a side entry housing comprising a body construction and a removable cover; (i) the body construction includes an inlet construction forming an inlet end and an outlet construction forming an outlet end; the body construction provides a sealing surface against which a seal member compresses to form a radially directed seal; (A) the body construction includes a body member that includes a sidewall having a closed end and an open end and forms an internal volume, wherein the sidewall includes a pair of body member edges that define the open end, and wherein the open end is sufficiently large to accommodate a filter element passing therethrough so that the open end corresponds to a side entry;(B) the closed end of the sidewall being U-shaped;(C) the sidewall includes a surface facing toward the outlet end and angled downwardly from the open end to the closed end so that the surface is closer to the inlet end at the open end adjacent the pair of body member edges than at the closed end;(ii) the removable cover is removable from the body construction to expose the open end; and the removable cover includes a curved sidewall having an inlet end adjacent the inlet construction and an opposite outlet end adjacent the outlet construction, and a pair of cover edges extending between the inlet end and the outlet end;(b) a filter element located in the internal volume of the side entry housing and having a size that permits the filter element to pass through the side entry, and having an inlet end and an opposite, outlet end. 20. An air cleaner according to claim 19, wherein the pair of body member edges comprise flanges, the pair of cover edges comprise flanges, and the flanges on the removable cover are constructed to overlap the flanges on the body construction. 21. An air cleaner according to claim 20, further comprising fasteners for securing the removable cover to the body construction. 22. An air cleaner according to claim 19, wherein the filter element comprises a media pack comprising alternating fluted sheet and facing sheet, and arranged in a non-round configuration. 23. An air cleaner according to claim 22, wherein the filter element comprises a frame construction arranged around an outer periphery of the media pack, and the frame construction forms a recess defined by an angled member of the frame construction. 24. An air cleaner according to claim 23, wherein the frame construction of the filter element comprises a truss system located over an outlet flow face of the media pack. 25. An air cleaner according to claim 23, wherein the angled member of the frame construction extends away from the outer periphery of the media pack. 26. An air cleaner according to claim 23, wherein the removable cover comprises a projection that projects toward the internal volume and into the recess of the filter element. 27. An air cleaner according to claim 19, wherein the sidewall surface facing toward the outlet end and angled downwardly slopes at an angle of less than 30 degrees. 28. An air cleaner housing according to claim 19, wherein the sidewall surface facing toward the outlet end and angled downwardly slopes at an angle of 5 degrees to 25 degrees. 29. An air cleaner according to claim 19, wherein the body construction comprises a mounting bracket. 30. An air cleaner according to claim 19, wherein the sealing surface is an annular surface. 31. An air cleaner according to claim 19, wherein the sealing surface extends parallel to an axial direction of air flow through the side entry housing from the inlet end to the outlet end. 32. An air cleaner comprising: (a) a side entry housing comprising a body construction and a removable cover; (i) the body construction includes an inlet construction forming an inlet end and an outlet construction forming an outlet end; the body construction provides a sealing surface against which a seal member compresses to form a radially directed seal; (A) the body construction includes a body member that includes a sidewall having a closed end and an open end and forms an internal volume, wherein the sidewall includes a pair of body member edges that define the open end, and wherein the open end is sufficiently large to accommodate a filter element passing therethrough so that the open end corresponds to a side entry;(B) the sidewall includes a surface facing toward the outlet end and angled downwardly from the open end to the closed end so that the surface is closer to the inlet end at the open end adjacent the edges than at the closed end;(ii) the removable cover is removable from the body construction to expose the open end; and the removable cover includes a curved sidewall having an inlet end adjacent the inlet construction and an opposite outlet end adjacent the outlet construction, and a pair of edges extending between the inlet end and the outlet end;(b) a filter element located in the internal volume of the side entry housing, wherein the filter element comprises a media pack having a non-round outer periphery and located between the body member sidewall closed end and the removable cover sidewall, and having an inlet end and an opposite, outlet end. 36. An air cleaner according to claim 35, wherein the filter element comprises a media pack having a pair of parallel sides joined by a pair of curved ends. 37. An air cleaner according to claim 35, wherein the filter element comprises handle extending from a side of the filter element.
