A portable vehicle safe and method for installing the safe in a vehicle is disclosed. The save can be mounted in a vehicle in any orientation while still providing convenient access to the contents. A generally rectangular body of the safe features a door that is mounted at an angle so that the safe can be mounted both vertically and horizontally.
