Each of the insulated conductors passes through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination. Exposed cores of the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude from the end termination. A cylinder is coupled to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude. An electrical bus is coupled to the exposed portion of the cores. Electrically insulating material fills the cylinder such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material. An end cap is coupled to the cylinder to seal off the interior of the cylinder.

A method for coupling ends of cores of three insulated conductors, comprising: placing an end termination over end portions of the three insulated conductors, wherein the end termination comprises three separate openings that pass through the end termination, each of the insulated conductors passing through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination with cores of the end portions being at least partially exposed;coupling a cylinder to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude;filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material with at least a portion of the cores remaining exposed;electrically coupling the exposed portions of the cores;filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andcoupling an end cap to the cylinder. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the cores of the end portions have been at least partially exposed by removing portions of jackets and electrical insulation from the end portions. 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising coupling jackets of the insulated conductors to the end termination. 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising compacting the electrically insulating material in the cylinder after filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material such that at least the portion of the cores remain exposed. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising compacting the electrically insulating material in the cylinder after filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the cylinder comprises two or more cylinder portions coupled together, and wherein at least a first cylinder portion has a length less than the length of the exposed cores such that at least some portion of the cores extends beyond the first cylinder portion. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the cylinder comprises two cylinder portions coupled together, the method further comprising coupling a second cylinder portion to a first cylinder portion, wherein the second cylinder portion has a length that extends beyond the length of the exposed cores above the first cylinder portion. 8. The method of claim 1, further comprising filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material by: filling the cylinder with some electrically insulating material;compacting the electrically insulating material to a first level;filling the cylinder with additional electrically insulating material; andcompacting the electrically insulating material to a second level that substantially encloses the cores in the electrically insulating material. 9. The method of claim 1, further comprising electrically coupling the exposed portions of the cores with an electrical bus. 10. The method of claim 1, wherein the end cap comprises a guide for guiding installation of the insulated conductors into a wellbore. 11. The method of claim 1, wherein the electrically insulating material comprises magnesium oxide and/or boron nitride. 12. A fitting for coupling ends of cores of three insulated conductors, comprising: an end termination placed over end portions of the three insulated conductors, wherein the end termination comprises three separate openings that pass through the end termination, each of the insulated conductors passing through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination, exposed cores of the end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from the end termination;a cylinder coupled to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude;an electrical coupling between the exposed portions of the cores;electrically insulating material filling the cylinder such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andan end cap coupled to the cylinder. 13. The fitting of claim 12, wherein the cylinder comprises two or more cylinder portions coupled together, and wherein at least a first cylinder portion has a length less than the length of the exposed cores such that at least some portion of the cores extends beyond the first cylinder portion. 14. The fitting of claim 12, wherein the cylinder comprises two cylinder portions coupled together, wherein the second cylinder portion has a length that extends beyond the length of the exposed cores above the first cylinder portion. 15. The fitting of claim 12, wherein the electrical coupling between the exposed portions of the cores comprises an electrical bus. 16. The fitting of claim 12, wherein the end cap comprises a guide for guiding installation of the insulated conductors into a wellbore. 17. The fitting of claim 12, wherein the electrically insulating material comprises magnesium oxide and/or boron nitride. 18. A method for converting a three-phase heater with a ground-faulted leg to single-phase operation using a three-phase power supply, comprising: placing a resistor between a neutral of the power supply and the ground-faulted leg of the three-phase heater such that little or no current flows through the ground-faulted leg, wherein the resistor is in series with the ground-faulted leg;providing electrical power to the remaining two legs of the heater from the power supply such that the two legs operate as a single phase heater with current running into the formation through one leg and returning on the other leg, wherein the two legs are coupled in the subsurface using a fitting comprising: an end termination placed over end portions of the three insulated conductors, wherein the end termination comprises three separate openings that pass through the end termination, each of the insulated conductors passing through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination, exposed cores of the end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from the end termination;a cylinder coupled to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude;an electrical coupling between the exposed portions of the cores;electrically insulating material filling the cylinder such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andan end cap coupled to the cylinder. 19. A method for coupling ends of cores of two or more insulated conductors, comprising: placing an end termination over end portions of the two or more insulated conductors, wherein the end termination comprises separate openings for each insulated conductor that pass through the end termination, each of the insulated conductors passing through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination with cores of the end portions being at least partially exposed;coupling a cylinder to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude;filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material with at least a portion of the cores remaining exposed;electrically coupling the exposed portions of the cores;filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andcoupling an end cap to the cylinder. 20. A fitting for coupling ends of cores of two or more insulated conductors, comprising: an end termination placed over end portions of the two or more insulated conductors, wherein the end termination comprises separate openings for each insulated conductor that pass through the end termination, each of the insulated conductors passing through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination, exposed cores of the end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from the end termination;a cylinder coupled to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude;an electrical coupling between the exposed portions of the cores;electrically insulating material filling the cylinder such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andan end cap coupled to the cylinder. 21. A method for coupling an end of an insulated conductor, comprising: placing an end termination over an end portions of the insulated conductor, wherein the end termination comprises an opening for the insulated conductor that passes through the end termination, the insulated conductor passing through the opening with an end portion of the insulated conductor protruding from one side of the end termination with a core of the end portion being at least partially exposed;coupling a cylinder to the side of the end termination from which the end portion of the insulated conductor protrudes;filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material with at least a portion of the core remaining exposed;electrically coupling the exposed portion of the core with a jacket of the insulated conductor;filling the cylinder with electrically insulating material such that the core and the jacket are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andcoupling an end cap to the cylinder. 22. A fitting for coupling an end of an insulated conductor, comprising: an end termination placed over an end portion of the insulated conductor, wherein the end termination comprises an opening for the insulated conductor that passes through the end termination, the insulated conductor passing through the opening with an end portion of the insulated conductor protruding from one side of the end termination, an exposed core of the end portion of the insulated conductor protruding from the end termination;a cylinder coupled to the side of the end termination from which the end portion of the insulated conductor protrudes;an electrical coupling between the exposed portion of the core and a jacket of the insulated conductor;electrically insulating material filling the cylinder such that the core and the jacket are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material; andan end cap coupled to the cylinder.
