1. A wound closure delivery system comprising: an introducer sheath having a lumen extending therethrough;a tissue closure device comprising a distal flexible cap and an elongate stem having a longitudinal axis perpendicular to a distal surface of the distal flexible cap and which is elongate in the direction of the longitudinal axis, wherein the distal flexible cap has opposite lateral sides which are formable toward the longitudinal axis, wherein the stem further comprises a proximally positioned aperture therethrough, wherein the distal cap and the stem are formed from a single integral piece, and wherein the tissue closure device is formed from a bioabsorbable material;a wound closure delivery cartridge having the tissue closure device therein, wherein the wound closure delivery cartridge has a lumen extending therethrough with a tapered inner diameter configured to reduce the cross-sectional diameter of the tissue closure device by urging the opposite lateral sides of the distal flexible cap proximally in the direction of the longitudinal axis as the tissue closure device is advanced forward within the wound closure delivery cartridge; anda plunger comprising a guide and seal assembly having a lumen and a plunger tip advanceable through the lumen of the guide and seal assembly, a distal end of the guide and seal assembly engaging a proximal end of the wound delivery cartridge, wherein a proximal end of the introducer sheath engages a distal end of the wound closure delivery cartridge to couple the introducer sheath with the wound closure delivery cartridge, and wherein the plunger tip is adapted and configured to be advanced through the lumens in each of the guide and seal assembly, wound closure delivery cartridge, and the introducer sheath to advance the tissue closure device through the wound closure delivery cartridge and then through and out of the introducer sheath. 2. The wound closure delivery system of claim 1 wherein the distal flexible cap of the closure device has at least one of a substantially flat distal surface and a substantially flat proximal surface, a substantially flat distal surface and a substantially concave proximal surface, a substantially flat distal surface and a substantially convex proximal surface, a substantially convex distal surface and a substantially flat proximal surface, a substantially convex distal surface and a substantially convex proximal surface, a substantially convex distal surface and a substantially concave proximal surface, a substantially concave distal surface and a substantially flat proximal surface, a substantially concave distal surface and a substantially concave proximal surface, and a substantially concave distal surface and a substantially convex proximal surface. 3.
