1. A storage system for covering a pile of bulk material, the system comprising: a storage area surface having a storage perimeter defined at a ground surface within which the pile of bulk material is stored substantially on or proximate to the ground surface;a retaining wall extending along the storage perimeter, the retaining wall having a lower edge positioned at the storage perimeter and an upper edge opposite the lower edge, the retaining wall angled away from the storage area;a board securable to at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall, the secured board and at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall having a space there between, the space defining an opening;a plurality of tarpaulins, each tarpaulin including at least one adjacent edge, the plurality of tarpaulins joinable together at the adjacent edges by a plurality of fasteners,at least one perimeter edge, each of the perimeter edges collectively defining a tarpaulin perimeter, a portion of each tarpaulin at or proximate to each perimeter edge positionable over the upper edge of the retaining wall, anda plurality of tunnels, each tarpaulin including at least one tunnel integrally bonded to the tarpaulin;a plurality of straps, each strap provided within and freely movable through one of the tunnels, at least one end of each strap extendable beyond the tarpaulin perimeter and beyond the board over the upper edge of the retaining wall; anda tightening mechanism connected to at least one end of the each of the plurality of straps, wherein at least one of the perimeter edges of the tarpaulins is insertable within or through the opening thereby securing at least one tarpaulin to the upper edge of the retaining wall as the board is secured to the upper edge. 2. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the retaining wall is substantially planar. 3. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of tunnels within each tarpaulin extend substantially parallel, and wherein each strap provided within one of tunnels is spaced from an adjacent strap by at least 6 feet. 4. The storage system of claim 1, wherein a distance between the upper edge and the lower edge of the retaining wall is at least 6 feet. 5. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the tightening mechanism comprises a winch. 6. The storage system of claim 5, wherein a tension of each of the plurality of straps is adjustable by the winch connected to the at least one end of the each of the plurality of straps. 7. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of tarpaulins collectively form an oval shape. 8. The storage system of claim 1, each of the plurality of tarpaulins further comprising a graspable handle integral and proximate to the adjacent edge. 9. A storage system for covering a pile of bulk material, the system comprising: a storage area surface having a storage perimeter defined at a ground surface within which the pile of bulk material is stored substantially on or proximate to the ground surface;a retaining wall extending along the storage perimeter, the retaining wall having a lower edge positioned at the storage perimeter and an upper edge opposite the lower edge;a board securable to at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall, the secured board and the at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall having a space therebetween, the space defining an opening;a plurality of tarpaulins, each tarpaulin including at least one adjacent edge, the plurality of tarpaulins joinable together at adjacent edges by a plurality of fasteners,at least one perimeter edge, each of the perimeter edges collectively defining a tarpaulin perimeter, a portion of each tarpaulin at or proximate to each perimeter edge positionable over the upper edge of the retaining wall, at least one of the perimeter edges insertable within or through the opening thereby securing at least one tarpaulin to the upper edge of the retaining wall as the board is secured to the upper edge,a plurality of tunnels, each tarpaulin including at least one tunnel integrally bonded to the tarpaulin;a plurality of straps, each strap provided within and freely movable through one of the tunnels, at least one end of each strap extendable beyond the tarpaulin perimeter over the upper edge of the retaining wall, and at least one end of one strap extendable beyond the board as it is secured to the upper edge of the retaining wall; anda tightening mechanism connected to at least one end of the each of the plurality of straps. 10. The storage system of claim 9, wherein the retaining wall is angled away from the storage area, the tarpaulin perimeter dimensioned to cover the storage area and the upper edge of the retaining wall, and wherein the storage system further comprises:a brace positioned against the retaining wall so that the retaining wall maintains its angle away from the storage area; anda plurality of winches, each winch connected to the end of one of the plurality of straps, the winches operable to provide tension to the connected strap in order to secure the plurality of joined tarpaulins over the storage area and the upper edge of the retaining wall. 11. The storage system of claim 10, further comprising an opening in the joined plurality of tarpaulins, the opening substantially positioned above a center of the storage area as the joined tarpaulins are secured over the storage area and the upper edge of the retaining wall, the opening dimensioned to allow the addition of material to the pile of bulk material while the plurality of tarpaulins are secured over the storage area and the upper edge of the retaining wall, each of the plurality of winches operable to ease tension on each of the plurality of straps thereby permitting expansion of available volume under the plurality of joined tarpaulins as material is added. 12. The storage system of claim 11, wherein each of the tunnels are distanced at least 6 feet from each other, and wherein a distance between the upper and lower edges of the retaining wall is at least 6 feet. 13. The storage system of claim 9, wherein said retaining wall is substantially planar and angled away from the storage area. 14. The storage system of claim 9, wherein said plurality of tunnels within each tarpaulin extend substantially parallel, and wherein each strap provided within one of tunnels is spaced from an adjacent strap by at least 6 feet. 15. The storage system of claim 9, wherein the tightening mechanism comprises a winch. 16. The storage system of claim 15, wherein a tension of each of the plurality of straps is adjustable by the winch connected to the at least one end of the each of the plurality of straps. 17. The storage system of claim 9, wherein the plurality of tarpaulins collectively form an oval shape. 18. The storage system of claim 9, each of the plurality of tarpaulins further comprising a graspable handle integral and proximate to the adjacent edge.
