A device for suturing an opening in a tissue, having an elongated shaft, at least two arms movable to a deployed positioning which the arms are non-perpendicular to the shaft, the arms having needle receiving portions; and needles advanceable longitudinally along the shaft toward the needle receiving portions, the needles exiting through side walls of the shaft at a location proximal to the arms.

1. A method of suturing a blood vessel, comprising: advancing a suturing device having an elongated body into an opening in the blood vessel, the suturing device having a longitudinal axis selectively positionable at a non-perpendicular angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the blood vessel;extending arms from a distal end of the elongated body into a deployed position, wherein the arms extend within the blood vessel at an angle selectively positionable to be non-perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the suturing device when extended into a deployed position, an angular rotation of two of the arms around respective pivot points being different from each other and wherein the angular rotation of a first one of the arms is different than the angular rotation of a second one of the arms; andadvancing one or more needles from a first position to a second position spaced outwardly from the first position, the one or more needles being elastically deformed while advancing from the first position to the second position. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein one or more of the arms include a needle receiving portion, the needle receiving portion dimensioned to receive a portion of a suture. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein a first end portion of the suture is engaged by a distal end of one of the one or more needles. 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising: positioning a loop of suture longitudinally across the opening of the blood vessel to close the opening. 5. The method of claim 3, further comprising: providing a length of suture having two ends and a bight therebetween, the bight prearranged on the device to define a pre-tied knot when the first end portion of the suture is advanced through the bight. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein advancing the one or more needles further comprises advancing one or more needles along an angularly oriented needle guiding portion of the elongated body to dispose a first need of the one or more needles outwardly from the first position adjacent to the elongated body. 7. A method of suturing a blood vessel, comprising: advancing a suturing device having an elongated body into an opening in the blood vessel, the suturing device having a longitudinal axis selectively positionable at a non-perpendicular angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the blood vessel;deploying a first extending member at a first angle from a distal end of the elongated body from a first pivot location;deploying a second extending member at a second angle from the distal end of the elongated body from a second pivot location different from the first pivot location, the second angle being selectively positionable to be unequal to the first angle, wherein the first and second extending members extend within the blood vessel at an angle selectively positionable to be non-perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the suturing device; andadvancing one or more needles from a first position to a second position spaced outwardly from the first position, the one or more needles being elastically deformed while advancing from the first position to the second position. 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the first extending member includes a needle receiving portion, the needle receiving portion of the first extending member being dimensioned to receive an end portion of a suture. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein a first end portion of the suture is engaged by a distal end of one of the one or more needles. 10. The method of claim 7, further comprising: positioning a loop of suture longitudinally across the opening of the blood vessel to close the opening. 11. The method of claim 9, further comprising: providing a length of suture having two ends and a bight therebetween, the bight prearranged on the device to define a pre-tied knot when the first end portion of the suture is advanced through the bight. 12. The method of claim 7, wherein advancing the one or more needles further comprises advancing one or more needles along an angularly oriented needle guiding portion of the elongated body to dispose a first needle of the one or more needles outwardly from the first position adjacent to the elongated body. 13. A method of suturing a blood vessel, comprising: advancing a suturing device having an elongated body into an opening in the blood vessel, the suturing device having a longitudinal axis selectively positionable at a non-perpendicular angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the blood vessel;deploying a first extending member at a first angle from a distal end of the elongated body from a first pivot location;deploying a second extending member at a second angle from the distal end of the elongated body from a second pivot location different from the first pivot location, the second angle being selectively positionable to be unequal to the first angle, wherein the first and second extending members extend within the blood vessel at an angle selectively positionable to be non-perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the suturing device;advancing a first needle from a first position to a second position spaced outwardly from the first position, the first needle being elastically deformed while advancing from the first position to the second position; andadvancing a second needle from a third position to a fourth position spaced outwardly from the third position, the second needle being elastically deformed while advancing from the third position to the fourth position, wherein the elastic deformation of the first needle is unequal to the elastic deformation of the second needle. 14. The method of claim 13, further comprising retracting the first needle from the second position to the first position wherein the first needle is restored to a configuration without elastic deformation. 15. The method of claim 14, further comprising retracting the second needle from the fourth position to the third position wherein the second needle is restored to a configuration without plastic deformation.
