A method and apparatus for use in a digital imaging device for correcting image blur in digital images by combining plurality of images. The plurality of images that are combined include a main subject that can be selected by user input or automatically by the digital imaging device. Blur correction
A method and apparatus for use in a digital imaging device for correcting image blur in digital images by combining plurality of images. The plurality of images that are combined include a main subject that can be selected by user input or automatically by the digital imaging device. Blur correction can be performed to make the main subject blur-free while the rest of the image is blurred. All of the image may be made blur-free or the main subject can be made blur-free at the expense of the rest of the image. Result is a blur corrected image that is recorded in a memory.

1. A method comprising: displaying an image in a viewfinder;designating, by a processor, a main subject in the image in the viewfinder;capturing a plurality of photographic images in a recording medium, wherein the plurality of photographic images include the designated main subject;combining the plurality of photographic images selectively to generate a corrected image, wherein a first part of the corrected image is generated by combining a first set of images from among the plurality of images, a second part of the corrected image is generated by combining a second set of images from among the plurality of images, and at least one image in the first set of images is not included in the second set of images; andstoring the corrected image in a memory. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein designating the main subject is based on image segmentation or pattern recognition techniques. 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising indicating the designated main subject in the viewfinder. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the combining includes shifting the plurality of photographic images combined such that the designated main subject is aligned in a same location in each of the plurality of photographic images combined. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the combining comprises determining pixel values for only a portion of the main subject. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein combining the plurality of photographic images to generate a corrected image is performed by combining sequential images. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the corrected image is displayed in the viewfinder. 8. A method comprising: displaying an image in a viewfinder;receiving user input, by the viewfinder, designating a main subject in the image;capturing a plurality of photographic images at a recording medium, wherein the plurality of photographic images include the designated main subject;combining the plurality of photographic images selectively to generate a corrected image, wherein a first part of the corrected image is generated by combining a first set of images from among the plurality of images, a second part of the corrected image is generated by combining a second set of images from among the plurality of images, and at least one image in the first set of images is not included in the second set of images; andstoring the corrected image in a memory. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the viewfinder receives the user input based on a selection of an indicator in the viewfinder. 10. The method of claim 8, wherein the processor indicates the main subject by an indicator in the viewfinder based on the received user input. 11. The method of claim 8, wherein the combining comprises shifting the plurality of images combined such that the main subject is aligned in a same location in the plurality of images combined. 12. The method of claim 8, wherein the combining comprises determining pixel values for only a portion of the main subject. 13. The method of claim 8, wherein combining the plurality of photographic images to generate a corrected image is performed by combining sequential images. 14. The method of claim 8, wherein the corrected image is displayed in the viewfinder. 15. An apparatus comprising: a viewfinder configured to display an image;a processor configured to designate a main subject in the image in the viewfinder;a recording medium configured to capture a plurality of photographic images, wherein the plurality of images includes the designated main subject;the processor further configured to selectively combine the plurality of photographic images to generate a corrected image, wherein the processor:combines a first set of images from among the plurality of images to generate a first part of the corrected image, combines a second set of images from among the plurality of images to generate a second part of the corrected image, and at least one image in the first set of images is not included in the second set of images; anda memory configured to store the corrected image. 16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the processor is configured to designate the main subject using image segmentation or pattern recognition techniques. 17. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the processor is further configured to indicate the main subject by an indicator in the viewfinder. 18. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the processor is configured to designate more than one designated main subject in the plurality of photographic images. 19. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the processor is configured to shift the plurality of photographic images combined such that the main subject is aligned in a same location in the plurality of photographic images combined. 20. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the combined plurality of photographic images determines pixel values for only a portion of the main subject. 21. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the combined plurality of photographic images are sequential images. 22. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the viewfinder is further configured to display the corrected image. 23. Apparatus including a viewfinder configured to display an image;a processor configured to receive user input that designates a main subject in the image in the viewfinder;a recording medium configured to capture a plurality of photographic images, wherein the plurality of photographic images includes the designated main subject;the processor further configured to selectively combine the plurality of photographic images to generate a corrected image, wherein the processor:combines a first set of images from among the plurality of images to generate a first part of the corrected image, combines a second set of images from among the plurality of images to generate a second part of the corrected image, and at least one image in the first set of images is not included in the second set of images; anda memory configured to store the corrected image. 24. The apparatus of claim 23 wherein viewfinder is further configured to receive an indicator designating the main subject and transmit the user input to the processor. 25. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein processor is further configured to indicate the main subject by an indicator in the viewfinder. 26. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the processor is configured to receive user inputs that designate more than one designated main subject in the plurality of photographic images. 27. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the processor is configured to shift the plurality of photographic images combined such that the main subject is aligned in a same location in the plurality of photographic images combined. 28. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the combined plurality of photographic images determines pixel values for only a portion of the main subject. 29. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the combined plurality of photographic images are sequential images. 30. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the viewfinder is further configured to display the corrected image.
