Systems, methods, and computer-readable mediums, consistent with principles of some embodiments of the present invention provide for remote ordering of goods within a shopping establishment including enabling selection between a plurality of counter services, receiving information relating to the selected counter service, enabling customization of the order for the selected counter service, transmitting the selection information, customization information and order identifying information to one of a plurality of remote devices to be fulfilled, and receiving completion data from the one of the plurality of remotes devices when the order is fulfilled.

A method for remote ordering within a shopping establishment, comprising: providing a plurality of personal shopping devices each mounted to a respective one of a plurality of shopping carts; each personal shopping device having a central processing unit, a memory, a touch screen display and a universal serial bus (USB) port;providing a plurality of key fob devices, each storing a respective one of a plurality of unique user identifiers;providing a server storing a database;receiving, at the USB port of one of the personal shopping devices, one of the key fob devices;at the central processing unit of the one personal shopping device, receiving the unique user identifier stored by the one key fob device from the one key fob device via the USB port;at the central processing unit, executing application software to generate a user interface on the touch screen display; and modifying the user interface to enable selection between a plurality of counter services;receiving at the central processing unit, via the user interface, a selection of a counter service of the plurality of counter services from a user of the personal shopping device;responsive to receiving the selection, transmitting session management information indicative of the selection from the central processing unit to the one key fob device, via the USB port;generating, by the central processing unit, a purchase order for the counter service in response to the selection, the generation including automatically inserting the unique user identifier into the purchase order;receiving, by the one personal shopping device, information relating to the counter service;at the central processing unit, updating the user interface on the touch screen display to enable customization of the purchase order for the counter service based on the received information;receiving at the central processing unit, via the user interface, a customization of the purchase order from the user after updating the user interface;transmitting, by the one personal shopping device, the purchase order and the customization to the server to be fulfilled;storing the purchase order and the customization in the database at the server in association with the unique user identifier; andreceiving, by the personal shopping device, completion data from the server when the purchase order is fulfilled. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of counter services includes a bakery order, a delicatessen order, a film processing order, a media order, and a pharmacy order. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the customization of the bakery order includes information identifying at least one of baked good type, icing, writing, and decoration;wherein the customization of the delicatessen order includes information identifying at least one of a contents of platter and size of the platter;wherein the customization of the photo processing order includes at least one of a number of prints, size of prints, and type of paper for printing; andwherein the customization of the pharmacy order includes a prescription refill number. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of receiving completion data further includes transmitting completion data to a different electronic device. 5. An apparatus for remote ordering within a shopping establishment, comprising: a server storing a database;a plurality of key fob devices each storing a respective one of a plurality of unique user identifiers; anda plurality of personal shopping devices each connected to a respective one of a plurality of shopping carts; each personal shopping device having (i), memory storing instructions; (ii) a touch screen display, (iii) a universal serial bus (USB) port configured to receive one of the key fob devices, and (iv) a central processing unit executing application software to generate, responsive to receipt of the one key fob device in the USB port, a user interface on the touch screen display; the central processing unit further configured to: receive the unique user identifier from the one key fob device via the USB port;receive, via the user interface, a selection of a counter service of a plurality of counter services from a user of the personal shopping device;responsive to receiving the selection, transmit session management information indicative of the selection from the central processing unit to the one key fob device, via the USB port;generate a purchase order for the counter service in response to the selection, the generation including automatically inserting the unique user identifier into the purchase order;receive information relating to the counter service;update the user interface on the touch screen display to enable customization of the purchase order for the counter service based on the received information;receive, via the user interface, a customization of the purchase order from the user after updating the user interface;transmit the purchase order and the customization to the server to be fulfilled; andreceive completion data from the server when the customized purchase order is fulfilled;the server configured to store the purchase order and the customization in the database in association with the unique user identifier. 6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the plurality of counter services includes a bakery order, a delicatessen order, a film processing order, a media order and a pharmacy order. 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the customization of the bakery order includes information identifying at least one of baked good type, icing, writing, and decoration;wherein the customization of the delicatessen order includes information identifying at least one of a contents of platter and size of the platter;wherein the customization of the photo processing order includes at least one of a number of prints, size of prints, and type of paper for printing; andwherein the customization of the pharmacy order includes a prescription refill number. 8. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the processor further executes the instructions stored in memory to transmit completion data to a different remote device.
