An application media package for accessing and displaying Internet content includes a definition for rendering a graphical user interface and a URL pointing to Internet content that may be downloaded and presented within said user interface. An application media viewer may be used in association with the application media package to manage the collection, organization, sharing, and rendering of a plurality of such Packages. Such Application Media Packages may be obtained via a web browser displaying links thereto. They may also be obtained through functionality provided by said Application Media Viewer. Links to Application Media Packages may be shared among user, for example by email. Groupings of Application Media Packages may be created by users or Package providers, and such groupings may be shared amongst users.

A method of managing a networked information monitor for accessing and presenting Internet content, the networked information monitor being a part of a home networked information monitor containing a plurality of networked information monitors, an instance of said networked information monitor being based on a networked information monitor template, the network information monitor template comprising (i) a definition of a dedicated viewer graphical user interface within which Internet content is presented and (ii) a network reference to said Internet content, wherein the definition of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface defines a graphical appearance of a frame that frames the dedicated viewer graphical user interface within which the Internet content is presented, the graphical appearance of the frame as defined by the definition of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface including one or more graphical elements presented in the frame, the presentation of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface on an electronic display being independent from and outside of any graphical user interface of any other application, said networked information monitor template being stored on a server computer, said method comprising: logging into the server computer by a first user at a client computer;receiving, from the server computer at the client computer associated with the first user, a first user profile comprising the networked information monitor template;presenting, on a display associated with the client computer, the networked information monitor in accordance with the networked information monitor template;receiving a selection, at the client computer, of a first adjustment to the networked information monitor that adjusts a characteristic of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface independent from the network reference to the Internet content presented in the dedicated viewer graphical user interface and independent from the Internet content presented in the dedicated viewer graphical user interface;adjusting, on the client computer, the networked information monitor in accordance with the first adjustment, wherein subsequent to the adjustment, the networked information monitor is defined by an adjusted networked information monitor template that reflects the first adjustment;transmitting, by the client computer to the server computer for storage, an updated user profile comprising the adjusted networked information monitor template;storing, at the client computer, a selectable link to said adjusted networked information monitor template; andgenerating, on the client computer, an electronic message addressed to a receiving party that includes the selectable link, wherein the selectable link is configured to provide access to the adjusted network information monitor template for the receiving user, wherein the selectable link is configured such that selection of the selectable link by the receiving user results in association of the adjusted networked information monitor with a second user profile corresponding to the receiving user. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first adjustment adjusts a visible characteristic of the frame. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the characteristic of the frame that is adjusted by the first adjustment comprises one or more of a size of the frame, a shape of the frame, a position of the frame on an electronic display, or a color of the frame. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the networked information monitor template includes an XML file. 5. A method of managing of networked information monitors for accessing and presenting Internet content, the networked information monitors being part of a home networked information monitor, wherein an instance of a given one of the networked information monitors is defined by an networked information monitor template, the network information monitor template comprising (i) a definition of a dedicated viewer graphical user interface within which Internet content is presented and (ii) a network reference to said Internet content, wherein the definition of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface defines a graphical appearance of a frame that frames the dedicated viewer graphical user interface within which the Internet content is presented, the graphical appearance of the frame as defined by the definition of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface including one or more graphical elements presented in the frame, the presentation of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface on an electronic display being independent from and outside of any graphical user of any other application, and wherein said networked information monitors define a set of networked information monitors which are transmitted by the client computer to one or more server computers and are stored on the one or more server computers, said method comprising: receiving, at a client computer associated with a sending party, selections of networked information monitors for inclusion in the set of networked information monitors such that the selections of networked information monitors define the set of networked information monitors;obtaining, at said client computer, a link to the networked information monitor templates that define the networked information monitors in the set of networked information monitors, said link being stored at said client computer, wherein the link is configured to provide access to set of network information monitor templates for a receiving party, wherein the link is configured such that selection of the link by the receiving party results in association of the networked information monitor templates with a profile corresponding to the receiving party; andtransmitting from the client computer associated with the sending party to a client computer associated with the receiving party, said link such that responsive to selection of the link on the client computer associated with the receiving party, the networked information monitors included in the set of networked information monitors are made accessible to the receiving party via the client computer associated with the receiving party. 6. The method of claim 5, wherein said link is provided to said receiving party via an email message. 7. The method of claim 5, wherein the set of networked information monitors includes an adjusted networked information monitor that has been customized by the first user. 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the customization of the adjusted networked information monitor is effected by an adjustment to the corresponding networked information monitor template. 9. The method of claim 7, wherein the customization of the adjusted networked information monitor comprises an adjustment of the frame of the dedicated graphical user interface of the adjusted networked information monitor that is independent from the Internet content presented in the dedicated graphical user interface of the adjusted networked information monitor. 10. The method of claim 5, wherein the networked information monitor templates include mark-up language files. 11. A method of managing a set of networked information monitors for accessing and presenting Internet content, the networked information monitors being part of a home networked information monitor, wherein an instance of a given one of the networked information monitors is based on a networked information monitor template, the network information monitor template comprising (i) a definition of a dedicated viewer graphical user interface within which Internet content is presented and (ii) a network reference to said Internet content, wherein the definition of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface defines a graphical appearance of a frame that frames the dedicated viewer graphical user interface within which the Internet content is presented, the graphical appearance of the frame as defined by the definition of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface including one or more graphical elements presented in the frame, the presentation of the dedicated viewer graphical user interface on an electronic display being independent from and outside of any graphical user interface of any other application, and wherein said networked information monitor templates defining the set of networked information monitors are stored on one or more server computers, said method comprising: obtaining, at a client computer associated with a receiving user, a link associated with the set of networked information monitors, said link being configured to provide access to set of network information monitors for the receiving user, wherein the link is configured such that selection of the link by the receiving user results in association of the networked information monitors with a profile corresponding to the receiving user;receiving, on the client computer associated with the receiving user, selection of said link;responsive to selection of the link, transmitting a request from the client computer to the one or more server computers for the networked information monitor templates associated with the set of networked information monitor templates from the one or more server computers; andreceiving, on the client computer associated with the receiving user from the one or more server computers, the requested networked information monitor templates responsive to transmission of the request. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein said link to said set of networked information monitors is obtained from an email message. 13. The method of claim 11, further comprising, responsive to receiving the networked information monitor templates, presenting, on the client computer, the networked information monitors in the set of networked information monitors to the receiving user, wherein presenting the given one of the networked information monitors comprises presenting the Internet content at the network reference in the dedicated viewer graphical user interface defined by the networked information monitor template corresponding to the given one of the networked information monitors. 14. The method of claim 11, wherein the set of networked information monitors includes an adjusted networked information monitor that has been customized by a first user that generated the selectable link. 15. The method of claim 14, wherein the customization of the adjusted networked information monitor has been effected by an adjustment to the corresponding networked information monitor template. 16. The method of claim 14, wherein the customization of the adjusted networked information monitor comprises an adjustment of the frame of the graphical user interface of the adjusted networked information monitor that is independent from the Internet content presented in the graphical user interface of the adjusted networked information monitor. 17. The method of claim 11, wherein the networked information monitor templates include mark-up language files.
