A method for filtering a gas includes sparging a gas through a liquid within a compartment of a container. In one embodiment the container can comprise a flexible bag. The sparged gas is passed from the container through a gas filter of a filter assembly. A partial vacuum is applied to the gas filter so that the partial vacuum assists in drawing the gas through the gas filter.

1. A method for filtering a gas, the method comprising: sparging a gas through a liquid within a compartment of a container, the container comprising a flexible bag;passing the sparged gas from the container through a gas filter of a filter assembly; andapplying a partial vacuum to the gas filter so that the partial vacuum assists in drawing the sparged gas through the gas filter. 2. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, automatically regulating the application of the partial vacuum based on a pressure reading of the sparged gas upstream of the gas filter. 3. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, further comprising regulating the application of the partial vacuum based on a sensed value for gas pressure within the container. 4. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, wherein the liquid comprises a culture that includes media and cells or microorganisms suspended therein. 5. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, wherein the filter assembly comprises: a casing comprised of a flexible sheet of a polymeric film and bounding a compartment; andthe gas filter being at least partially disposed within the compartment of the casing. 6. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, further comprising: passing the sparged gas from the container through a plurality of gas filters, the plurality of gas filters being disposed in parallel with each other, the gas filter being one of the plurality of gas filters; andapplying the partial vacuum to each of the plurality of gas filters so that the partial vacuum assists in drawing the gas through the plurality of gas filters. 7. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, further comprising passing sparged gas through a condenser assembly to remove moisture from the gas prior to passing the gas through the gas filter. 8. The method for filtering as recited in claim 7, wherein the condenser assembly comprises a flexible bag through which the gas is passed. 9. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, maintaining the gas pressure within the container in a range between 0 kPa and 10 kPa during sparging of the gas. 10. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, further comprising maintaining a pressure differential between a gas intake port of the gas filter and a gas exhaust port of the gas filter in a range between 0.5 kPa and 50 kPa, the gas exhaust port having the partial vacuum applied thereto. 11. The method for filtering as recited in claim 1, further comprising sparging the gas through the liquid so that the gas passes through the compartment of the container at a flow rate of 0.001 to 2.5 vessel volumes per minute based on a volume of the container. 12. A system for filtering a gas comprising: a container having a compartment configured to hold a liquid, the container comprising a flexible bag;a first filter assembly comprising a first gas filter, the first filter assembly being coupled with the container so that a gas can pass from the compartment of the container to the first gas filter; anda first vacuum pump coupled with the first filter assembly so that when the first vacuum pump is activated a partial vacuum is produced that assists in drawing the gas from the container through the first gas filter. 13. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising: a pressure sensor positioned to sense the gas pressure within the compartment of the container; anda computer processor in electrical communication with the pressure sensor and the first vacuum pump. 14. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising: a pressure sensor positioned to sense the gas pressure within the compartment of the container;a control valve disposed in fluid communication between the first filter assembly and the first vacuum pump; anda computer processor in electrical communication with the pressure sensor and the control valve. 15. The system as recited in claim 12, wherein the first filter assembly comprises: a casing comprised of a flexible sheet of a polymeric film and bounding a compartment; andthe first gas filter being at least partially disposed within the compartment of the casing. 16. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising a second vacuum pump coupled with the first filter assembly. 17. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising a second filter assembly comprising a second gas filter, the second filter assembly being coupled with the flexible bag in parallel with the first filter assembly so that a gas can pass from the compartment of the flexible bag to the second gas filter, the first vacuum pump coupled with the second filter assembly. 18. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising a condenser assembly coupled with the flexible bag between the flexible bag and the first filter assembly, the condenser assembly comprising: a condenser bag fluid coupled with the flexible bag and the first gas filter; anda condenser panel disposed adjacent to the condenser bag and coupled with a chiller. 19. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising: a gas transfer line extending between an exhaust port on the first filter assembly and first vacuum pump; anda pressure release valve coupled with the gas transfer line between the first filter assembly and first vacuum pump, the pressure release valve opening to release gas from the gas transfer line to the atmosphere when the gas pressure within the gas transfer line is positive or reaches a predetermined positive value. 20. The system as recited in claim 12, further comprising: a second container having a compartment configured to hold a liquid;a second filter assembly comprising a second gas filter, the second filter assembly being coupled with the second container so that a gas can pass from the compartment of the second container to the second gas filter; andthe first vacuum pump coupled with the second filter assembly so that when the first vacuum pump is activated a partial vacuum is produced that assists in drawing the gas from the second container through the second gas filter. 21. A system for filtering a gas comprising: a filter assembly comprising: a casing comprised of a flexible sheet of a polymeric film and bounding a compartment;an intake port coupled with case and communicating with the compartment; anda first filter comprising a porous filter body through which gas can pass and an exhaust port coupled with the filter body, the first filter being coupled with the casing so that the filter body is at least partially disposed within compartment of the casing and so that gas passing through the compartment of the casing from the intake port to the exhaust port must pass through the filter body; anda vacuum pump coupled with the exhaust port of the first filter so that when the vacuum pump is activated a partial vacuum is applied to the exhaust port. 22.
