Disclosed herein is a tapered flange nut which has a tapered end portion which interoperates with the shape of a non-circular opening in a pipe hanger saddle or equivalent structure.

The tapered flange nut as recited in claim 1 wherein the flange portion tapers radially inward toward the first longitudinal end to further center the tapered flange nut within the non-circular opening. 4. The tapered flange nut as recited in claim 1 wherein the locking insert does not longitudinally overlap the flange portion. 5. The tapered flange nut as recited in claim 1 wherein the locking insert is formed of an elastic material. 6. The tapered flange nut as recited in claim 5 wherein the locking insert is formed of a polymer. 7. The tapered flange nut as recited in claim 6 wherein the locking insert is formed of nylon. 8. The tapered flange nut as recited in claim 1 wherein a portion of the flange portion extends longitudinally past the locking insert and radially inward thereof to prohibit movement of the locking insert relative to the flange portion.
