An irrigation drip emitter, and methods relating to same, are provided for delivering irrigation water from a supply tube to an emitter outlet at a reduced and relatively constant flow rate. The emitter having at least one movable member for compensating for fluctuations in supply line fluid pressure. In one form the movable member includes a tapered baffle section movable between a first position wherein fluid is allowed to flow over the tapered baffle section and a second position wherein fluid is prevented from flowing over at least a portion of the tapered baffle section and the tapered baffle section effectively lengthening the extent of a pressure reduction passage. In another form, first and second movable members are provided for compensating for such pressure fluctuations. In another form, a plurality of inputs are provided which are movable between first and second positions to compensate for such pressure fluctuations.

An irrigation drip emitter for attachment to only a portion of an inner circumference of an inner surface of an irrigation drip line tube comprising: a discrete elastomeric emitter body integrally defining:an inlet on a first side of the body for receiving pressurized fluid from a fluid supply source;an outlet on a second side of the body for discharging the fluid from the body;a pressure reducing flow channel extending between the inlet and the outlet for reducing a pressure and flow of fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet, the pressure reducing flow channel defined by at least one inner wall and further comprising: a pressure compensating portion configured to adjust the pressure and flow of the fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet by movement of at least a portion of the at least one inner wall of the pressure reducing flow channel in response to a change in pressure of the pressurized fluid from the fluid supply source; anda perimeter wall forming at least a portion of an exterior of the emitter body, the perimeter wall forming at least a portion of a curved upper surface of the emitter body that is shaped to correspond to an interior radius of curvature of the portion of the inner circumference of the inner surface of the irrigation drip line tube to which the emitter body is to be mounted. 2. An irrigation drip emitter for attachment to only a portion of an inner circumference of an inner surface of an irrigation drip line tube comprising: a discrete elastomeric emitter body integrally defining:an inlet for receiving pressurized fluid from a fluid supply source;an outlet for discharging the fluid from the body;a pressure reducing flow channel extending between the inlet and the outlet for reducing a pressure and flow of fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet; anda pressure compensating portion configured to adjust the pressure and flow of fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet in response to a change in pressure of the pressurized fluid from the fluid supply source;wherein the elastomeric emitter body intended to be bonded at regular intervals to the inner surface of the irrigation drip line tube and the emitter body defines a curved upper surface that is shaped to correspond to an interior radius of curvature of the irrigation drip line tube to which the emitter body is to be mounted; and wherein the pressure reducing flow channel includes an inner baffle wall and an outer baffle wall that extends about the inner baffle wall in a generally U-shaped manner and forms at least a portion of an exterior wall of the emitter body, the baffle walls have upper surfaces, at least some of which define the curved upper surface of the emitter body that is shaped to correspond to the interior radius of curvature of the irrigation drip line tube, the inner baffle wall having a first portion of constant height and a second portion of tapering height, the second portion being movable between a first position wherein the upper surface of the second portion is not level with the upper surface of the first portion such that fluid can flow over the upper surface of the second portion at predetermined low fluid pressures and a second position wherein the upper surface of at least a portion of the second portion is level with the upper surface of the first portion and fluid cannot flow over the level upper surface of the second portion such that the cross-section of the flow channel is reduced and the length of the flow channel is lengthened. 3. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein at least a portion of the emitter body further defines a generally planar floor in the outlet and an obstruction extending upward from the floor for preventing the outlet from collapsing in response to increases in pressure of the pressurized fluid. 4. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 3 wherein the obstruction is a post projecting upward from the floor of the outlet and has a curved upper surface that corresponds in height and shape to the curved upper surface of the emitter body. 5. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein the emitter body defines a channel at the inlet sized to deflect foreign material from obstructing the inlet or entering the emitter body with the channel being defined by an exterior surface of the emitter body. 6. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 5 wherein the inlet further includes a plurality of ribs projecting away from an exterior of the emitter body to deflect foreign materials from obstructing the inlet or entering the emitter body. 7. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 6 wherein the channel extends continuously at a perimeter region of the emitter body and emptying into the inlet and the plurality of ribs comprising at least one tapered end with the ribs running parallel to a longitudinal axis of the emitter body. 8. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 with the emitter body further defining tapered and non-tapered baffles each having upper surfaces, with the baffle structures cooperating to form part of the flow channel, the tapered baffles tapering in height toward one another and being variably movable between a first position wherein the upper surfaces of the tapered baffles are not level with the upper surfaces of the non-tapered baffles and a second position wherein the upper surfaces of the tapered baffles are at the same level as the non-tapered baffles and the cross-section of the flow channel proximate the tapered baffles is reduced when the tapered baffles are in the second position. 9. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein the pressure reducing flow channel includes an inner baffle wall and an outer baffle wall that extends about the inner baffle wall in a generally U-shaped manner, and the baffle walls have upper surfaces, with at least some of the upper surfaces defining the curved upper surface of the emitter body that is shaped to correspond to the interior radius of curvature of the irrigation drip line tube, and the inlet includes a plurality of inlet passages with each passage extending from a surface of the body exposed to the pressurized fluid to the pressure reducing flow channel, at least some inlet passages extending through bosses each boss having a terminal end progressively extending further into the pressure reducing flow channel, the terminal end of each boss moves variably from an open position wherein the terminal end of the boss is not level with the upper surfaces of the baffle walls having the first radius of curvature so that fluid can flow through the boss and into the flow channel and a closed position wherein the terminal end of the boss is level with the upper surfaces of the baffle walls having the first radius of curvature so that fluid is prevented from flowing through the boss and into the flow channel. 10. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 9 wherein the plurality of bosses move from the open position to the closed position such that the plurality of inlet openings are sequentially closed beginning with the inlet opening having the boss that extends furthest into the flow channel and ending with the inlet opening having the boss that extends least into the flow channel. 11. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein the emitter body has a longitudinal axis and the curved upper surface of the emitter body includes at least two portions of the emitter body that extend from one side of the emitter body to an opposite side of the emitter body uninterrupted and in a path generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the emitter body. 12. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein the pressure reducing flow channel includes a plurality of baffles and the curved upper surface of the emitter body includes an upper surface of at least one of the plurality of baffles. 13. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 12 wherein the curved upper surface of the emitter body includes the upper surfaces of the outer perimeter wall and the at least one of the plurality of baffles. 14. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein the curved upper surface is curved with respect to at least one other side of the emitter body. 15. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 14 wherein the curved upper surface is positioned opposite a generally flat side of the emitter having at least one protrusion extending therefrom for assisting in filtering fluid traveling through the emitter. 16. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 wherein the emitter body defines at least one protrusion extending from an exterior surface of the emitter proximate the inlet to assist in filtering fluid traveling through the emitter. 17. An irrigation drip emitter for attachment to only a portion of an inner circumference of an inner surface of an irrigation drip line tube comprising: a discrete elastomeric emitter body integrally defining: an inlet on a first side of the body for receiving pressurized fluid from a fluid supply source;an outlet on a second side of the body for discharging the fluid from the body;a pressure reducing flow channel extending between the inlet and the outlet for reducing a pressure and flow of fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet, the pressure reducing flow channel defined by at least one inner wall and further comprising: a pressure compensating portion configured to adjust the pressure by movement of at least a portion of the body between a first position and a second position in response to a change in pressure of the pressurized fluid from the fluid supply source; anda perimeter wall forming at least a portion of an exterior the emitter body and at least a portion of the pressure reducing flow channel, the perimeter wall forming at least a portion of a curved upper surface of the emitter body and the emitter body forming a non-cylindrical emitter with a generally flat or planar pressure reducing flow channel. 18. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 wherein at least a portion of the emitter body further defines a generally planar floor in the outlet and an obstruction extending upward from the floor for preventing the outlet from collapsing in response to increases in pressure of the pressurized fluid. 19. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 18 wherein the obstruction is a protrusion projecting upward from the floor of the outlet. 20. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 18 wherein the emitter body defines a channel at the inlet sized to deflect foreign material from obstructing the inlet or entering the emitter body with the channel being defined by an exterior surface of the emitter body. 21. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 20 wherein the inlet further includes a plurality of ribs projecting away from an exterior of the emitter body to deflect foreign materials from obstructing the inlet or entering the emitter body. 22. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 with the emitter body further defining tapered and non-tapered baffles each having upper surfaces, with the baffle structures cooperating to form part of the flow channel, the tapered baffles tapering in height toward one another and being variably movable between a first position wherein the upper surfaces of the tapered baffles are not level with the upper surfaces of the non-tapered baffles and a second position wherein the upper surfaces of the tapered baffles are generally level with the non-tapered baffles and the cross-section of the flow channel proximate the tapered baffles is reduced when the tapered baffles are in the second position. 23. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 wherein the inlet includes a boss extending from a surface of the body to form an elongated inlet passage. 24. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 wherein the emitter body has a longitudinal axis and a curved upper surface that is shaped to correspond to an interior radius of curvature of the irrigation drip line tube to which the emitter body is to be mounted, the curved upper surface of the emitter body includes at least two portions of the emitter body that extend from one side of the emitter body to an opposite side of the emitter body uninterrupted and in a path generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the emitter body. 25. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 wherein the emitter body has a curved upper surface that is shaped to correspond to an interior radius of curvature of the irrigation drip line tube to which the emitter body is to be mounted, and the pressure reducing flow channel includes a plurality of baffles and the curved upper surface of the emitter body includes an upper surface of at least one of the plurality of baffles. 26. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 25 wherein the curved upper surface of the emitter body includes the upper surfaces of the outer perimeter wall and the at least one of the plurality of baffles. 27. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 wherein the emitter body defines at least one protrusion extending from an exterior surface of the emitter proximate the inlet to assist in filtering fluid traveling through the emitter. 28. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 17 further comprising an elongated irrigation drip line tube having a plurality of the irrigation drip emitters of claim 17 spaced at regular intervals therein. 29. The irrigation drip emitter of claim 1 further comprising an elongated irrigation drip line tube having a plurality of the irrigation drip emitters of claim 1 spaced at regular intervals therein. 30. An irrigation drip emitter for attachment to only a portion of an inner circumference of an inner surface of an irrigation drip line tube comprising: a discrete elastomeric emitter body forming a discrete emitter intended to be bonded at regular intervals to the inner surface of the irrigation drip line tube and integrally defining: an inlet on a first side of the body for receiving pressurized fluid from a fluid supply source;an outlet on a second side of the body for discharging the fluid from the body;a pressure reducing flow channel extending between the inlet and the outlet for reducing a pressure and flow of fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet, the pressure reducing flow channel defined by at least one inner wall and further comprising: a pressure compensating portion configured to adjust the pressure and flow of the fluid received at the inlet and discharged through the outlet by movement of at least a portion of the at least one inner wall of the pressure reducing flow channel in response to a change in pressure of the pressurized fluid from the fluid supply source; anda perimeter wall forming at least a portion of a curved upper surface of the emitter body that is shaped to correspond to an interior radius of curvature of the portion of the inner circumference of the inner surface of the irrigation drip line tube to which the emitter body is to be mounted, with the emitter body forming a non-cylindrical emitter; andthe emitter body having a longitudinal axis and having at least on protrusion extending from an exterior surface of the first side of the emitter body proximate the inlet and in a direction transverse the longitudinal axis to assist in filtering fluid traveling through the inlet.
