1. A surgical instrument system, comprising: an end effector;a firing member movable within said end effector when a firing motion is applied thereto;a handle comprising a firing actuator that is selectively movable between an unactuated position and a fully actuated position;a motor configured to generate said firing motion, wherein said firing actuator is operable to operate said motor as said firing actuator is moved from said unactuated position to said fully actuated position;a switch configured to prevent movement of said firing actuator from said unactuated position until said switch has been activated; anda return switch operably interfacing with said motor such that actuation of said return switch causes said motor to discontinue generating said firing motion and to apply a retraction motion to said firing member to return said firing member to a starting position. 2. A surgical instrument, comprising: an end effector comprising a distal end and a proximal end, wherein said end effector is movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration when a closing motion is applied thereto;a firing member movable from a starting position adjacent said proximal end of said end effector toward said distal end of said end effector when a firing motion is applied thereto;a handle comprising a firing actuator that is selectively movable between an unactuated position and a fully actuated position;a motor configured to generate said firing motion, wherein said firing actuator is operable to operate said motor as said firing actuator is moved from said unactuated position to said fully actuated position;a switch configured to prevent movement of said firing actuator from said unactuated position until said switch has been activated; anda return switch operably interfacing with said motor such that actuation of said return switch causes said motor to discontinue generating said firing motion and to apply a retraction motion to said firing member to return said firing member to said starting position. 3. The surgical instrument of claim 2 further comprising a source of electrical power operably coupled to said motor and wherein said surgical instrument further comprises another switch operably communicating with said source of electrical power and said motor and being configured for interaction with said firing actuator such that activation of said firing actuator causes an application of electrical power to said motor. 4. The surgical instrument of claim 3 wherein said source of electrical power comprises at least one battery. 5. The surgical instrument of claim 2 wherein said end effector comprises a surgical staple cartridge and an anvil selectively movable relative to each other upon application of said closing motion thereto and wherein distal movement of said firing member through said surgical staple cartridge causes deployment of surgical staples operably supported within said surgical staple cartridge. 6. The surgical instrument of claim 2 wherein said firing actuator comprises a trigger movably mounted on a handle. 7. The surgical instrument of claim 2 wherein said return switch is manually actuatable. 8. The surgical instrument of claim 7 wherein said return switch comprises a retraction trigger that is supported by said firing actuator. 9. A surgical instrument, comprising: a handle;an end effector operably coupled to said handle and comprising a distal end, wherein said end effector is movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration when a closing motion is applied thereto, said end effector configured to operably support a surgical cartridge therein;a motor operably supported by said handle;a firing member operably interfacing with said motor such that rotation of said motor in one direction causes said firing member to move from a proximal starting position to a distal position in said end effector and rotation of said motor in an opposite direction causes said firing member to move from said distal position to said proximal starting position;a source of electrical power for powering said motor;a firing actuator configured to operate said motor as said firing actuator is moved from an unactuated position to a fully actuated position;a first switch operably communicating with said source of electrical power and said motor such that movement of said firing actuator from said unactuated position to said fully actuated position causes said first switch to permit electrical power to flow from said source of electrical power to said motor;a second switch configured to prevent movement of said firing actuator from said unactuated position unless said second switch has been activated; anda third switch communicating with said source of electrical power and said motor and configured to prevent said flow of said electrical power from said source of electrical power to said motor unless said surgical cartridge is operably supported in said end effector; anda return switch operably interfacing with said motor such that actuation of said return switch causes said motor to discontinue rotation in said one direction and to rotate in said opposite direction. 10. The surgical instrument of claim 9 wherein said second switch is configured to prevent activation of said first switch unless said second switch has been activated. 11. The surgical instrument of claim 10 wherein said first and second switches are coupled in series between said source of electrical power and said motor. 12. The surgical instrument of claim 9 wherein said source of electrical power comprises at least one battery operably supported in said handle. 13. The surgical instrument of claim 9 wherein said return switch comprises a retraction trigger that is supported by said firing actuator. 14. A surgical instrument comprising: a handle assembly;a motor operably supported by said handle assembly;a source of electrical power;an end effector coupled to said handle assembly, said end effector comprising: a surgical fastener cartridge; andan anvil supported relative to said surgical fastener cartridge such that one of said surgical fastener cartridge and said anvil is selectively movable relative to the other of said surgical fastener cartridge and said anvil upon actuation of a closure system operably supported by said handle assembly;a firing member operably interfacing with said motor such that rotation of said motor in one direction causes said firing member to from a proximal starting position to a distal position in said end effector and rotation of said motor in an opposite direction causes said firing member to move from said distal position to said proximal starting position;a firing trigger movably supported on said handle assembly and communicating with said source of electrical power and said motor, such that upon actuation thereof in a first actuation direction permits an application of said electrical power to said motor to cause said motor to rotate in said first actuation direction;a second switch arrangement interfacing with said source of electrical power and said motor to facilitate another application of said electrical power to said motor to cause said motor to rotate in said opposite direction when said firing member reaches said distal position; anda retraction trigger operably interfacing with said second switch arrangement such that actuation of said retraction trigger when said motor is rotating in said opposite direction will alter said another application of said electrical power to said motor. 15. The surgical instrument of claim 14 wherein said retraction trigger is supported by said firing trigger. 16. The surgical instrument of claim 14 wherein said firing trigger includes a first switch and wherein said first and second switches are connected in series between said source of electrical power and said motor. 17. The surgical instrument of claim 14 wherein said source of electrical power comprises at least one battery operably supported in said handle assembly. 18.
