A driving tool with a housing, a motor received in the housing, a control unit and a trigger. The housing defines a handle. The control unit is configured to operate the motor and has a microswitch, an actuator arm and a spring. The actuator arm is biased by the spring toward the microswitch. The spring is configured to move the actuator arm against the microswitch to cause the microswitch to operate in an actuated switch state. The trigger is coupled to the handle and is movable between a first trigger position and a second trigger position. The trigger has a switch arm that cooperates with the actuator arm to form a lost-motion coupling that permits a predetermined amount of movement of the trigger from the first trigger position to the second trigger position before coupling the switch arm to the actuator arm. The actuator member does not contact the microswitch when the trigger is in the second trigger position so that the microswitch operates in a nominal switch state.

The driving tool of claim 1, wherein the switch arm does not contact the actuator arm when the trigger is in the first trigger position. 4. The driving tool of claim 1, wherein movement of the trigger member by a predetermined amount from the first trigger position toward the second trigger position moves the switch arm into abutment with the actuator arm. 5. The driving tool of claim 1, wherein the switch arm is configured to move along a path that is not parallel to the first axis. 6. The driving tool of claim 5, wherein the switch arm is configured to move increasingly away from the first axis as the trigger member moves closer to the second trigger position. 7. The driving tool of claim 1, wherein the actuator comprises a solenoid. 8. The driving tool of claim 1, wherein the control unit is configured to operate the rotary motor in response to a change in a state of the trigger switch from the first switch state to the second switch state. 9. The driving tool of claim 1, wherein the driver and the flywheel have complementary abutting surfaces that include a plurality of peaks and valleys. 10. A driving tool comprising: a housing defining a handle;a motor received in the housing;a control unit configured to operate the motor, the control unit having a microswitch, an actuator arm and a spring, the microswitch being operable in a nominal switch state and an actuated switch state, the actuator arm being translatable relative to the housing along a first axis, the actuator arm being biased by the spring toward the microswitch, the spring being configured to move the actuator arm against the microswitch to cause the microswitch to operate in the actuated switch state; anda trigger including a trigger member coupled to the handle and movable between a first trigger position and a second trigger position, and a switch arm fixedly coupled to the trigger member, wherein movement of the trigger member from the first trigger position to the second trigger position causes the switch arm to move the actuator arm away from the microswitch so that the microswitch operates in the nominal switch state. 11. The driving tool of claim 10, wherein the motor comprises a rotary motor. 12. The driving tool of claim 11, wherein the motor is a linear motor and comprises a solenoid. 13. The driving tool of claim 12, wherein the linear motor comprises a flywheel, which is driven by the rotary motor, and a driver that is configured to translate along a translation axis, wherein operation of the solenoid drives the driver into contact with a circumferential surface of the flywheel. 14. The driving tool of claim 11, wherein the control unit is configured to operate the rotary motor in response to a change in a state of the microswitch from the actuated switch state to the nominal switch state. 15. The driving tool of claim 10, wherein the switch arm is configured to move along a path that is not parallel to the first axis. 16. The driving tool of claim 15, wherein the switch arm is configured to move increasingly away from the first axis as the trigger member moves closer to the second trigger position. 17. The driving tool of claim 10, wherein the switch arm does not contact the actuator arm when the trigger is in the first trigger position. 18.
