The patient interface device of claim 1, wherein the patient interface device is configured such that inhaled air flows only within one of the first and second conduits to the hollow interior space. 3. The patient interface device of claim 2, wherein the first and second conduits are parallel to one another. 4. The patient interface device of claim 1, wherein the first inhalation valve assembly and the secondary gas port connector are formed in a main valve body that is attached to the mask body to form the patient interface device. 5. The patient interface device of claim 2, wherein a main valve body includes a directional valve that can be moved by a user into a plurality of different operating modes including a first mode in which the first inhalation valve assembly is active and open, while the second inhalation valve assembly is offline and closed and a second mode in which the first inhalation valve assembly is offline and closed, while the second inhalation valve assembly is open. 6. The patient interface device of claim 5, wherein the main valve body includes a directional valve opening into which the directional valve is inserted and is rotatable therein, the directional valve being in fluid communication with a first opening that leads to the first conduit, a second opening that leads to the second conduit and a third opening that leads to the secondary gas port connector, the directional valve being a tubular structure that includes a first valve opening, a second valve opening and a third valve opening, the first, second and third valve openings being spaced circumferentially about the tubular structure, the directional valve being rotatable within the main valve body so as to place one of the first, second and third valve openings in registration within one of the first and second openings. 7. The patient interface device of claim 6, wherein the first, second and third valve openings are each 90 degrees apart from one another. 8. The patient interface device of claim 6, wherein the emergency inhalation valve assembly is always in fluid communication with a hollow interior of the directional valve and thus, in fluid communication with one of the first and second conduits. 9. The patient interface device of claim 4, wherein the patient interface device is configured such that inhaled air flows only within one of the first and second conduits to the hollow interior space. 10. The patient interface device of claim 9, wherein the main valve body includes a directional valve opening into which a directional valve is inserted and is rotatable therein, the directional valve being in fluid communication with a first opening that leads to the first conduit, a second opening that leads to the second conduit and a third opening that leads to the secondary gas port connector, the directional valve being a tubular structure that includes a first valve opening, a second valve opening and a third valve opening, the first, second and third valve openings being spaced circumferentially about the tubular structure, the directional valve being rotatable within the main valve body so as to place one of the first, second and third valve openings in registration within one of the first and second openings, wherein the main valve body further includes a third conduit that is in fluid communication with the second conduit and with the directional valve opening. 11. The patient interface device of claim 1, wherein the first inhalation valve assembly comprises a flapper valve formed within the first conduit that opens into the hollow interior space of the mask body. 12. The patient interface device of claim 1, wherein the inner tubular structure includes a plurality of first windows and the outer part includes a plurality of second windows. 13. The patient interface device of claim 10, wherein the secondary gas port connector is in selective fluid communication with the directional valve. 14. The patient interface device of claim 10, wherein the third conduit is connected to a gas reservoir assembly in the form of a bag. 15. The patient interface device of claim 5, wherein the directional valve and the emergency inhalation valve assembly are coaxial. 16. The patient interface device of claim 14, wherein in at least one operating mode, gas stored within the bag flows along a linear path through the directional valve to the second inhalation valve assembly and the HME unit. 17. A patient interface device for delivering a gas to a patient comprising: a mask body for placement against a face of the patient and having a hollow interior space;a valve body assembly that is integrally attached to the mask body, the valve body assembly including:a first inhalation valve assembly configured to deliver inhaled air to the hollow interior space; anda secondary gas port connector in selective communication with the hollow interior space, the secondary gas port connector comprising an inner tubular structure that has an open end for connection to a gas source and includes at least one first window formed in the inner tubular structure; and an adjustable outer part that is disposed about the inner tubular structure and is movable relative thereto, the outer part having at least one second window formed and positioned such that when the outer part is mated to the inner tubular structure, the first and second windows can be placed in overlapping registration to allow air to be entrained, the outer part being movable relative to the inner tubular structure between a first position in which there is complete registration between the first and second windows and a second position in which the first and second windows are offset from one another;a first conduit for connection to a source of aerosolized medication;a second conduit;a gas reservoir assembly in the form of a bag that is fluidly connected to the second conduit; wherein in a first operating mode, the secondary gas port connector, the gas reservoir assembly and the first conduit are all in fluid communication with the first inhalation valve assembly and fluid from each of the secondary gas port connector, the gas reservoir assembly and the first conduit only flows into the hollow interior space by flowing through the first inhalation valve assembly; anda directional valve assembly rotatably disposed within the valve body assembly and constructed to configure the valve body into the first operating mode in which air flows through the first inhalation valve assembly to the mask body when the patient inhales and a second operating mode in which air flows through a second inhalation valve assembly to the mask body, the directional valve being configured to restrict air flow to only one of the first and second inhalation valve assemblies, wherein in the second operating mode, the gas reservoir assembly and the secondary gas port connector are in fluid communication with the second inhalation valve assembly, while the first conduit is capped. 18. The patient interface device of claim 17, wherein the outer part comprises a rotatable cylindrically shaped part that has a plurality of openings formed circumferentially about the cylindrically shaped part, the openings defining different flow paths. 19. A patient interface device for delivering a gas to a patient comprising: a device for delivering aerosolized medication;a mask body for placement against a face of the patient and having a hollow interior space;a valve body assembly that is configured to be attached to the mask body, the valve body assembly comprising: a first port to which the device for delivering aerosolized medication is fluidly connected;a second port;an exhalation valve assembly that includes an exhalation valve member that is configured to vent exhaled air when open;a first inhalation valve assembly configured to deliver inhaled air to the hollow interior space;a secondary gas port connector in selective communication with the hollow interior space, the secondary gas port connector comprising an inner tubular structure that has an open end for connection to a gas source and includes at least one first window formed in the inner tubular structure; and an adjustable outer part that is disposed about the inner tubular structure and is movable relative thereto, the outer part having at least one second window formed and positioned such that when the outer part is mated to the inner tubular structure, the first and second windows can be placed in overlapping registration to allow air to be entrained, the outer part being movable relative to the inner tubular structure between a first position in which there is complete registration between the first and second windows and a second position in which the first and second windows are offset from one another;a directional valve located downstream of the secondary gas port connector but upstream of the first inhalation valve assembly, wherein the directional valve is adjustable by a user's hand so as to be positioned within one of a plurality of different operating modes;a gas reservoir assembly that is fluidly connected to the second port;wherein the directional valve is configured such that in at least one operating mode thereof, the first port, the second port and the secondary gas port connector are all in fluid communication with one another, thereby permitting mixing, in a portion of the valve body assembly, of: (1) the aerosolized medication delivered by the device for delivering aerosolized medication, (2) gas stored in the gas reservoir assembly and (3) gas delivered through the secondary gas port connector at a location upstream of the first inhalation valve assembly. 20. The patient interface device of claim 19, wherein the directional valve is accessible to a user along an exterior of the valve body assembly. 21. A patient interface device for delivering a gas to a patient comprising: a valve body assembly including a first port, a second port, a third port, a fourth port, and a fifth port, the first and second ports being configured for coupling to a patient interface, the first port defining a first inhalation flow path to the patient and the second port defining a second inhalation flow path to the patient; the valve body assembly having a first opening formed therein;a first inhalation valve disposed within one of the first and second ports; anda directional valve rotatably disposed within the first opening of the valve body assembly and constructed to configure the valve body assembly into a plurality of different operating states including: (1) a first operating state in which the second, fourth, and fifth ports are in fluid communication and the first and third ports are isolated from the fifth port but are in fluid communication with one another; (2) a second operating state in which the first, third, fourth and fifth ports are in fluid communication with one another and the second port is closed off; (3) a third operating state in which the first, second, third and fourth ports are in fluid communication with one another and the fifth port is closed off; and (4) a fourth operating state in which the first, second, third and fifth ports are in fluid communication with another and the fourth port is closed off. 22. The patient interface device of claim 21, wherein the first inhalation valve is disposed within the first port and a second inhalation valve is disposed within the second port. 23. The patient interface device of claim 21, wherein the first and third ports are arranged along a first axis; the second and fourth ports are arranged along a second axis and the fifth port is arranged along a third axis that is perpendicular to the first and second axes. 24. The patient interface device of claim 23, wherein the first and second axes are parallel to one another. 25. The patient interface device of claim 22, wherein the fifth port comprises a secondary gas port connected to a supplemental gas source, wherein rotation of the directional valve permits supplemental gas to be delivered to either the first inhalation valve or the second inhalation valve. 26. The patient interface device of claim 21, further including an exhalation valve that is disposed along the second port. 27. The patient interface device of claim 21, further including a heat moisture exchange (HME) unit that is disposed within the second port positioned downstream of the inhalation valve such that inhaled air passing through the first inhalation valve flows through the HME unit. 28. A patient interface device for delivering a gas to a patient comprising: a mask body for placement against a face of the patient and having a hollow interior space; anda main valve body coupled to the mask body and including: an exhalation valve member that is configured to vent exhaled air when open;a first inhalation valve disposed within a first port of the main valve body and configured to deliver inhaled air to the hollow interior space, the first inhalation valve being located along a first inhalation flow path;a second inhalation valve disposed within a second port of the main valve body and configured to deliver inhaled air to the hollow interior space, the second inhalation valve being located along a second inhalation flow path that is different than the first inhalation flow path; anda heat moisture exchange (HME) unit that is positioned downstream of the second inhalation valve such that inhaled air flows along the second inhalation flow path passing through the second inhalation valve flows through the HME unit and into the hollow interior space where it can be inhaled;wherein the exhalation valve member is disposed along the second flow path between the second inhalation valve and the mask body and is in fluid communication with the HME unit such that exhaled air must flow through the HME unit before exiting through the exhalation valve.
