The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the coupling longitudinal portion of the elongate body is slidably insertable lengthwise into the external fitting groove of the channel framing body through one of the open groove ends of the external fitting groove, wherein the coupling longitudinal portion of the elongate body is configured to inhibit withdrawal of the elongate body from the external fitting groove in a direction transverse to the length of the external fitting groove when the coupling longitudinal portion of the elongate body is slidably inserted into the external fitting groove. 4. The fitting set forth in claim 1, in combination with the piece of channel framing, wherein the coupling longitudinal portion is connected to the fitting side of the channel framing body, and the exposable longitudinal portion extends outward from one of longitudinal ends of the channel framing body. 5. The fitting in combination with the piece of channel framing set forth in claim 4, wherein the channel framing comprises a slotted side opposite the fitting side of the channel framing body, the slotted side defining an elongate slot extending lengthwise of the channel framing body and into an open interior of the channel framing body. 6. The fitting in combination with the piece of channel framing set forth in claim 4, wherein the first opening is configured to receive a rod to hang the piece of channel framing from an elevated structure when the coupling longitudinal portion of the coupling component is received in the external fitting groove. 7. The fitting in combination with the piece of channel framing set forth in claim 4, wherein the coupling longitudinal portion of the coupling component is configured to inhibit withdrawal of the coupling component from the external fitting groove in a direction transverse to the length of the external fitting groove. 8. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the generally dovetail cross-sectional shapes of the upper and lower portions of the coupling longitudinal portion are mirror images of one another in reference to an intervening plane extending lengthwise of the elongate body.
