The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the coil spring is configured to generate a force for holding the washer and the coupling component in clamping engagement with the second side of the channel framing when the coupling component is received in the external fitting groove. 3. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the spring comprises a coil extension spring. 4. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the coupling component is configured for reception in the slot of the first side of the channel framing, and wherein the washer is configured to engage outside surfaces of the first side of the channel framing at opposite sides of the slot when the coupling component is received in the slot. 5. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the coupling component has a length extending between the opposite ends, and a width extending between the opposite sides, wherein the opposite ends are beveled from the upper face to the lower face to define the generally dovetail cross-sectional shape defined by the outer perimeter of the coupling component. 6. The fitting set forth in claim 5, wherein the coupling component has diagonally opposite first and second corners that are rounded, and diagonally opposite third and fourth corners that are squared off. 7. The fitting set forth in claim 6, wherein the first and second corners are beveled. 8. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the coupling component is configured to lock in the external fitting groove by rotating the coupling component in the external fitting groove. 9. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the groove is a linear groove. 10. The fitting set forth in claim 1, wherein the lower extended portion of the coil spring is staked in the groove. 11. The fitting set forth in claim 1, further including a second groove defined by the washer, wherein the upper extended portion of the coil spring is firmly fixed in the second groove. 12. A method of assembling channel framing assembly, the method comprising: providing a piece of channel framing including an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and defining an interior extending along the longitudinal axis, the body having a first side defining a continuous slot extending lengthwise of the body and into the interior of the body and having outside surface at opposite sides of the slot, and a second side generally opposite the first side defining an external fitting groove extending lengthwise of the body and having outside surfaces at opposite sides of the external fitting groove, the external fitting groove having a generally dovetail cross-sectional shape;providing a fitting including a coupling component having a generally dovetail cross-sectional shape defined by an outer perimeter of the coupling component configured for reception in the external fitting groove of the channel framing, wherein the coupling component defines an opening sized and shaped to receive a fastener, wherein the coupling component has a lower face, an upper face, opposite sides, opposite ends,a groove defined by one of the opposite sides of the coupling component and extending from the upper face toward the lower face,a washer secured to the coupling component, the washer configured to engage the outside surfaces of the second side of the channel framing at opposite sides of the external fitting groove when the coupling component is received in the external fitting groove, wherein the washer defines a through opening that is generally aligned with the opening defined by the coupling component and sized and shaped to receive the fastener, wherein the coupling component tapers toward the washer, anda coil spring securing the washer to the coupling component, wherein the coil spring biases the washer in a direction toward the coupling component, the coil spring including an upper extended portion firmly fixed to the washer, and a lower extended portion firmly fixed in the groove defined by one of the opposite sides of the coupling component, wherein the washer is movable in a direction away from the coupling component to resiliently deflect the spring; andinserting the coupling component of the fitting into the external fitting groove of the channel framing. 13. The method set forth in claim 12, further comprising rotating the coupling component after said inserting the coupling component to lock the fitting in the external fitting groove of the channel framing. 14. The method set forth in claim 13, further comprising clamping the channel framing between the coupling component and the washer, wherein the coil spring produces a clamping force. 15. The method set forth in claim 12, further comprising inserting a threaded fastener into a through opening of the coupling component. 16. The method set forth in claim 15, further comprising fastening the threaded fastener to the coupling component. 17. The fitting set forth in claim 1, in combination with a piece of the channel framing. 18.
