The present disclosure provides amine-modified polymer foams, which may be used for wound dressing materials. For example, the modified materials can include a covalently attached molecule comprising free amine groups. Such amine groups can be used, for instance, to conjugate biologically active polypeptides and/or linkers. Methods for using modified polymers are also provided.

1. A functionalized material comprising an amine-functionalized polyurethane material attached to a biologically active agent, wherein the amine-functionalized polyurethane material comprises a polyurethane polymer copolymerized with one or more aminoglycosides, and wherein the biologically active agent is attached to a free amino group on the functionalized material. 2. The functionalized material of claim 1, wherein the one or more aminoglycosides comprise one or more aminoglycosides selected from the group consisting of amikacin, apramycin, arbekacin, astromicin, bekanamycin, dibekacin, framycetin, gentamicin, hygromycin B, isepamicin, kanamycin, neomycin, netilmicin, paromomycin, rhodostreptomycin, ribostamycin, sisiomycin, streptomycin, tobramycin, and verdamicin. 3. The functionalized material of claim 1, wherein the biologically active agent is attached to the material through an adapter. 4. The functionalized material of claim 1, wherein the biologically active agent is a polypeptide. 5. The functionalized material of claim 4, wherein the polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of gelatin, collagen, albumin, an enzyme, growth factor, chemokine, cytokine, and a polypeptide that binds to any of them. 6. The functionalized material of claim 5, wherein the polypeptide is an enzyme selected from a protease, hydrolase, lyase, ligase, isomerase, transferase, oxidase, reductase, oxidoreductase, synthase, polymerase, kinase, and phosphatase. 7. The functionalized material of claim 1, comprising a polyurethane foam. 8. The functionalized material of claim 7, comprising an open cell foam. 9. The functionalized material of claim 1, wherein the amine-functionalized polyurethane material comprises a polyurethane polymer copolymerized with neomycin. 10. The functionalized material of claim 9, in the form of a foam, solid membrane, semi-solid membrane, permeable membrane, semi-permeable membrane, interfacial layer, bead coating, catheter coating, stent coating, wound dressing, or coating for other device. 11. The functionalized material of claim 1, wherein the biologically active agent is directly attached to the functionalized polyurethane material. 12. The functionalized material of claim 3, wherein the adapter is an amine to amine crosslinker. 13. The functionalized material of claim 12, wherein the amine-to-amine crosslinker is selected from malondialdehyde, succinaldehyde, phthalaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, and glyoxal. 14. The functionalized material of claim 12, wherein the crosslinker is glutaraldehyde. 15. The functionalized material of claim 12, wherein the adapter is cleavable. 16. The functionalized material of claim 10, wherein the material comprises a foam that is a reticulated open-celled foam. 17. A method for treating a wound site, comprising: applying a functionalized material according to claim 1 to a wound site; andapplying negative pressure to the wound site. 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising applying an instillation solution to the wound site. 19. The method of claim 17, wherein the biologically active agent comprises a polypeptide. 20. The method of claim 18, wherein the instillation solution includes one or more agents that modulate a release of the biologically active agent.
