The described implementations relate to water denitrification. One method obtains nitrate levels in influent and effluent of a moving bed media filter and determines carbon levels in the effluent. 1. A system, comprising: a media filter configured to facilitate conversion of nitrogen from a first form that is less likely to outgas from water to a second form that is more likely to outgas from the water;a dosing mechanism configured to dose a carbon feedstock into influent water of the media filter to promote the conversion;a first sensor configured to detect a level of carbon in effluent water from the media filter;a second sensor configured to detect a level of nitrogen in effluent water from the media filter; anda controller configured to control the dosing mechanism based upon the levels of carbon and nitrogen in effluent water from the media filter;wherein the controller is further configured to reduce a carbon feedstock dosing rate in response to an increasing level of carbon in effluent water from the media filter; andthe first form is one or more of: nitrate or nitrite. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the the second form is one or more of: elemental nitrogen or diatomic nitrogen. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the media filter comprises a moving bed media filter with a relatively anoxic environment for accomplishing the conversion. 4. The system of claim 3, wherein the moving bed media filter has a generally aerobic environment at start-up and achieves the relatively anoxic environment at a subsequent point. 5. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to control the dose based upon an influent flow rate to the media filter and a level of nitrogen in the influent water. 6. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to increase a dosing rate for the carbon feedstock when the level of nitrogen in effluent water from the media filter rises. 7. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to generate an alarm condition when the levels of both carbon and nitrogen in effluent water from the media filter rise for a predefined period of time, rise by a predefined amount or percentage, or rise above a predetermined point for a predefined period of time. 8. A system, comprising: a media treatment system configured to facilitate conversion of nitrogen from a first form that is less likely to outgas from water to a second form that is more likely to outgas from the water;a dosing mechanism configured to dose a carbon feedstock into influent water of the media treatment system to promote the conversion;a sensor configured to detect a level of carbon in effluent water of the media treatment system; anda controller configured to control the dosing mechanism by adjusting a carbon feedstock dosing rate based upon the sensed level of carbon in effluent water from the media treatment system. 9. The system of claim 8 wherein the controller is configured to instruct the dosing mechanism to decrease the carbon feedstock dosing rate when the level of carbon in effluent of the media treatment system rises. 10. The system of claim 8 wherein the sensor is a first sensor and the system further includes a second sensor configured to detect a nitrogen level in effluent water of the media treatment system, and wherein the controller is configured to instruct the dosing mechanism to increase the carbon feedstock dosing rate when level of nitrogen in effluent water from the media treatment system rises. 11. The system of claim 10, further comprising a third sensor configured to detect a flow rate of at least one of an influent flow rate to the media treatment system and an effluent flow rate, and wherein the controller is configured to instruct the dosing mechanism to adjust the carbon feedstock dosing rate based on the level of nitrogen in the effluent water of the media treatment system and at least one of the influent flow rate and the effluent flow rate. 12. The system of claim 8 wherein the sensor is further configured to detect a level of nitrogen in effluent water of the media treatment system, and wherein the sensor is configured to generated a first signal based on the level of carbon in effluent water of the media treatment system and a second signal based on the level of nitrogen in effluent water of the media treatment system. 13. The system of claim 8, further comprising a user interface in communication with at least one of the controller or the sensor, wherein the user interface provides a display indicating at least one of the carbon feedstock dosing rate or the level of carbon in effluent water of the media treatment system. 14. The system of claim 13 wherein the user interface further includes an adjustable control in communication with the controller and configured to adjust the carbon feedstock dosing rate. 15. The system of claim 1 wherein the increasing level of carbon in effluent water from the media filter comprises one or more of a rise for a predefined period of time, a rise by a predefined amount or percentage, a rise above a predetermined point, or a rise above a predetermined point for a predefined period of time. 16. The system of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to decrease a dosing rate for the carbon feedstock when the level of nitrogen in effluent water from the media filter rises and the level of carbon in effluent water from the media filter rises. 17. The system of claim 1 wherein the controller is configured to reduce a carbon feedstock dosing rate in response to an increasing level of carbon in effluent water from the media filter by temporarily stopping the carbon feedstock dosing. 18. The system of claim 1 wherein the controller is configured to reduce a carbon feedstock dosing rate by stopping carbon feedstock dosing.
