The article of luggage of claim 1, wherein the central portion comprises an actuator for releasing the at least one rod to make the at least one rod movable between an extended position distal from the compartment and a retracted position proximal to the compartment. 6. The article of luggage of claim 1, wherein the at least one palm contact surface is substantially convex. 7. The article of luggage of claim 1, wherein the at least one palm contact surface is substantially tear-drop shaped. 8. The article of luggage of claim 1, wherein the at least one palm contact surface is textured. 9. The article of luggage of claim 1, wherein the at least one palm contact surface is made of resiliently-deformable material. 10. The article of luggage of claim 1, wherein the at least one palm contact surface is affixed to the handle. 11.
