Methods are provided for assessing potentially compromising situations of a utility company. One or more source displays of a site are accessed. A fly-out or data lensing is used to bring forward a portion of the source displays. The fly-out or data lensing is used to draw attention to a potentially compromising situation and direct the operator's attention without loosing perspective of a whole power system of the utility company.

1. A method, comprising: generating, by a system comprising a processor, a source display of an electrical power grid resource management system comprising a geographic representation of the electrical power grid resource management system and first information describing a first condition of the electrical power grid resource management system; generating, by the system, respective display elements that comprise zoomed-in views of distinct portions or the geographic representation in the source display and respective second information describing second conditions associated with the distinct portions of the geographic representation in the source display; overlaying, by the system, the respective display elements on the source display; rendering, by the system, respective projection lines between the distinct portions of the geographic representation in the source display and the respective display elements comprising the zoomed-in views of the distinct portions of the geographic representation; monitoring, by the system, updated information describing the first condition of the electrical power grid resource management system and at least one second condition of the second conditions; and replacing, by the system, the first information describing the first condition and the respective second information describing the second conditions with the updated information. 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising aggregating, by the system from an external source, third information associated with the source display. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the generating the display element further comprises selecting the distinct portions from the geographic representation in the source display. 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising initiating, by the system, a set of tools that, in response to input received by the system, manipulate a display element of the respective display elements. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first condition comprises real-time information indicating a location and an amount of volt ampere reactive (VAR) reserve available for a resource. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein a display element of the respective display elements is independently movable with respect to the source display. 7. The method of claim 1, further comprising, based on at least one of the first condition or a second condition of the second conditions, generating, by the system, an alert that indicates a detected violation. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein a second condition of the second conditions comprises a potentially compromising situation associated with a resource being monitored by the electrical power grid resource management system. 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the source display is a geographical overview with a background layer representing an aerial view of an area serviced by the electrical power grid resource management system. 10. The method of claim 1, further comprising enabling, by the system for at least one of the source display or a display element of the respective display elements, a zoom tool that determines a level of magnification. 11. The method of claim 1, further comprising altering, by the system, an opacity of the geographic representation. 12. The method of claim 1, wherein the overlaying a display element of the respective display elements on the source display comprises layering the display element on top of the source display without losing visibility of an associated distinct portion of the distinct portions of the source display. 13. A system, comprising: a memory to store executable instructions; and a processor, coupled to the memory, to execute or facilitate execution of the executable instructions to perform operations, comprising: displaying a source display comprising a geographic representation of an energy resource management system and information describing a condition of the energy resource management system; selecting distinct portions of the geographic representation; generating respective display elements that comprise zoomed-in views of the distinct portions of the geographic representation; overlaying the respective display elements on the source display; displaying respective projection lines between the distinct portions of the geographic representation in the source display and the respective display elements comprising the zoomed-in views of the distinct portions of the geographic representation; replacing the information describing the condition of the enemy resource management system with updated information. 14. The system of claim 13, wherein the operations further comprise magnifying at least one of the geographic representation or a display element of the respective display elements. 15. The system of claim 14, wherein the magnifying further comprises independently magnifying one of the geographic representation or the display element. 16. The system of claim 13, wherein the operations further comprise in response to receiving input, altering a content of a display element of the respective display elements. 17. The system of claim 16, wherein the operations further comprise in response to determining the condition satisfies the criterion, generating at least one of an audio alert or a visual alert. 18. The system of claim 13, wherein the operations further comprise determining whether the condition satisfies a criterion defining a compromised condition. 19. The system of claim 13, wherein generating the respective display elements further comprises displaying, in the respective display elements, respective additional information associated with the distinct portions, and wherein the respective additional information is not represented in the geographic representation. 20. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution, cause an apparatus comprising a processor to perform operations, the operations comprising: displaying a source display comprising a geographic representation of a utility resource management system and information describing a condition of the utility resource management system; selecting distinct portions of the geographic representation; generating respective display elements that comprise magnified views of the distinct portions of the geographic representation; overlaying the respective display elements on the display of the source display; respective projection lines between the distinct portions of the geographic representation in the source display and the respective display elements comprising the zoomed-in views of the distinct portions of the geographic representation; and replacing the information describing the condition of the resource system with updated information. 21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 20 wherein the operations further comprise maintaining, in response to altering a distinct portion of the distinct portions of the geographic representation, the distinct portion of the geographic representation in a display element of the respective display element associated with the distinct portion. 22. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 20, wherein the operations further comprise altering, in response to input received by the apparatus, a set of images associated with at least one of the geographic representation or a display element of the respective display elements. 23. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 20, wherein the operations further comprise storing information describing an area associated with a distinct portion of the distinct portions and settings of a display element of the respective display elements that is associated with the distinct portion, and wherein the storing the information results in stored information. 24. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein the generating is based at least in part on the stored information.
