1. An apparatus, comprising: a power supply;an in vivo analyte sensor operatively coupled to the power supply to generate analyte sensor signals corresponding to a monitored analyte level in a biofluid when powered by the power supply;a memory unit operatively coupled to the in vivo analyte sensor and the power supply to store the analyte sensor signals;a data processing unit operatively coupled to the in vivo analyte sensor, the memory unit, and the power supply, the data processing unit generating data that corresponds to the monitored analyte level and a rate of change of the monitored analyte level from the analyte sensor signals, the generated data further including an indicator that one or more data packets of the generated data are corrupt; anda data communication unit operatively coupled to the data processing unit, the data communication unit wirelessly communicating the generated data corresponding to the monitored analyte level and the determined rate of change of the monitored analyte level to a remote device using a wireless communication protocol, wherein the remote device is configured to use the indicator to determine a number of corrupt analyte values based on a comparison of the received signals to a predefined range. 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data communication unit is configured to determine that a predetermined number of valid analyte sensor signals is available when there are fewer than a predetermined number of invalid analyte sensor signals over a predetermined time period. 3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the invalid analyte sensor signals include a corrupt signal. 4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the invalid analyte sensor signals include a missing signal. 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the biofluid includes one of interstitial fluid or dermal fluid. 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data communication unit wirelessly communicates data processing unit identification information with the generated data. 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the in vivo analyte sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode having an analyte-responsive enzyme bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the analyte responsive enzyme is chemically bonded to the polymer disposed on the working electrode. 9. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the working electrode comprises a mediator crosslinked with the polymer. 10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the in vivo analyte sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode having a mediator bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data processing unit detects one or more states indicating when the in vivo analyte sensor is positioned in fluid contact with the biofluid. 12. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data processing unit detects one or more states indicating when the in vivo analyte sensor is removed from the biofluid. 13. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data processing unit generates an output signal when persistent low analyte sensor signals are detected. 14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the data communication unit communicates the generated output signal to the remote device using the wireless communication protocol. 15. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the data processing unit detects the persistent low analyte sensor signals when the analyte sensor signals are below a predetermined threshold level continuously for a predefined time period.
