A peritoneal dialysis machine including a membrane pump and a touch screen display that includes a mode-indicating portion and an operation-descriptive portion, the mode-indicating portion having a plurality of touch sensitive indicia each indicating one of a plurality of modes in which the machine can operate, the display being used to keep a patient continually informed of which one mode of at least three operating modes the machine is operating in, as the operation-descriptive portion changes to display details of a specific operation being carried out within the one mode, the indicia for each of the three operating modes always being visible to the patient while the machine is operating, the operating mode being selected by the patient touching one of the indicia on the screen.
1. A peritoneal dialysis system comprising: an enclosure;a stepper motor housed by the enclosure;a pump head in operable communication with the stepper motor;a disposable unit including at least one flexible membrane attached to a rigid piece, the enclosure configured to receive the disposable unit
1. A peritoneal dialysis system comprising: an enclosure;a stepper motor housed by the enclosure;a pump head in operable communication with the stepper motor;a disposable unit including at least one flexible membrane attached to a rigid piece, the enclosure configured to receive the disposable unit such that the stepper motor can move the pump head towards and away from the flexible membrane to cause (i) the flexible membrane to move away from the rigid piece as the pump head is moved away from the disposable unit, and (ii) the flexible membrane to move towards the rigid piece as the pump head is moved towards the disposable unit;a processor; anda graphical user interface including a display device that operates with the processor to display a plurality of peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) screens,a first input device that indicates to the processor that a PD therapy step displayed by one of the PD screens has been completed,a second input device that causes the processor to stop a PD therapy step displayed by one of the PD screens, anda third input device that causes the processor to display a previously displayed one of the PD screens. 2. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 1, wherein the graphical user interface includes a touch screen, at least one of the first, second and third input devices displayed by at least one of the PD screens on the touch screen. 3. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 1, wherein the PD therapy step for the first input device is a therapy set-up step or a therapy operation step. 4. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 1, wherein the PD therapy step for the second input device is a therapy set-up step or a therapy operation step. 5. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first, second and third input devices is an electromechanical input device. 6. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 1, wherein the PD therapy step for the first input device includes at least one step in a patient disconnection sequence. 7. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 1, wherein the PD therapy step for the first input device includes at least one instruction in a therapy set-up procedure. 8. A peritoneal dialysis system comprising: an enclosure;a stepper motor housed by the enclosure;a pump head in operable communication with the stepper motor;a disposable unit including at least one flexible membrane attached to a rigid piece, the enclosure configured to receive the disposable unit such that the stepper motor can move the pump head towards and away from the flexible membrane to cause (i) the flexible membrane to move away from the rigid piece as the pump head is moved away from the disposable unit, and (ii) the flexible membrane to move towards the rigid piece as the pump head is moved towards the disposable unit;a processor; anda graphical user interface including a first input device that initiates a therapy mode,a display device that when in the therapy mode operates with the processor to display a plurality of peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) set-up screens, each set-up screen requesting performance of a set-up procedure, anda second input device that indicates to the processor that the set-up procedure of one of the set-up screens has been completed. 9. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 8, wherein the first input device is a touch screen input device. 10. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 8, wherein the display device in the therapy mode is further caused to display a plurality of ongoing treatment screens that do not require actuation of the second input device. 11. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 10, wherein the plurality of ongoing treatment screens are displayed between a plurality of the set-up screens and at least one disconnection screen. 12. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 8, wherein at least one of the first and second input devices is an electromechanical input device. 13. A peritoneal dialysis system comprising: an enclosure;a stepper motor housed by the enclosure;a pump head in operable communication with the stepper motor;a disposable unit including at least one flexible membrane attached to a rigid piece, the enclosure configured to receive the disposable unit such that the stepper motor can move the pump head towards and away from the flexible membrane to cause (i) the flexible membrane to move away from the rigid piece as the pump head is moved away from the disposable unit, and (ii) the flexible membrane to move towards the rigid piece as the pump head is moved towards the disposable unit;a processor; anda graphical user interface including a display device that operates with the processor to (i) allow a selection of a settings changes mode to display a peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) settings changes screen, (ii) allow a selection of at least one parameter category displayed by the PD settings changes screen, (iii) allow a selection of a parameter from a plurality of parameters for the selected parameter category, and (iv) allow a selection of a parameter value for the selected parameter of the selected parameter category, wherein the settings changes mode is selected from a group including the settings changes mode, a therapy mode, and a treatment log mode. 14. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 13, wherein the at least one parameter category displayed by one of the PD screens is at least one of a (i) therapy parameter, (ii) patient preference parameter, (iii) nurse parameter, or (iv) service parameter. 15. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 13, wherein the selection of the at least one parameter category is performed on a different screen than the selection of the parameter for the selected parameter category. 16. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 13, wherein the selection of the parameter for the selected parameter category is performed on a different screen than the selection of the parameter value for the selected parameter of the selected parameter category. 17. The peritoneal dialysis system of claim 13, wherein the processor further operates with the display device to allow a user to move backwards to a previously displayed one of the plurality of PD screens. 18. A peritoneal dialysis method comprising: providing a peritoneal dialysis system including a stepper motor housed by an enclosure, and a disposable unit including at least one flexible membrane attached to a rigid piece;enabling receipt of the disposable unit within the enclosure such that the stepper motor can move a pump head towards and away from the flexible membrane to cause (i) the flexible membrane to move away from the rigid piece as the pump head is moved away from the disposable unit, and (ii) the flexible membrane to move towards the rigid piece as the pump head is moved towards the disposable unit;displaying a peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) settings changes screen upon a selection of a settings changes mode, wherein the settings changes mode is selected from a group including the settings changes mode, a therapy mode, and a treatment log mode;selecting at least one parameter category displayed by the PD settings changes screen;selecting a parameter from a plurality of parameters for the selected parameter category; andselecting a parameter value for the selected parameter of the selected parameter category. 19.
