A method of preparing a knee joint for a prosthesis in a patient includes mating a patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface of a femoral alignment guide onto a corresponding three-dimensional femoral joint surface of the patient. The patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface is preoperatively configured from medical scans of the knee joint of the patient. First and second holes are drilled into an anterior portion of the femoral joint surface through corresponding first and second guiding apertures of the femoral alignment guide.
1. A method for accessing a portion of a bone of a patient relative to a soft tissue on a surface of the bone, comprising: mating a patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface of a first guide onto a corresponding three-dimensional surface of the bone, the patient-specific three-dimensio
1. A method for accessing a portion of a bone of a patient relative to a soft tissue on a surface of the bone, comprising: mating a patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface of a first guide onto a corresponding three-dimensional surface of the bone, the patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface preoperatively configured from three dimensional images of the bone, where the first guide is based on converted scan data to three dimensional images of the bone of the patient's anatomy including a knee joint anatomy including images of the knee joint surfaces of at least one of a distal femur bone or a proximal tibial bone with or without associated soft tissue on the distal femur bone or the proximal tibial bone; drilling a first hole into the bone surface through a first guiding aperture of the first guide; and placing a member in the first hole into the bone near the knee joint surface, wherein drilling the first hole into the bone surface through the first guiding aperture of the first guide includes drilling the first hole through the first guide aperture that is at least one of positioned on an anterior-medial side of the bone or an anterior-lateral side of the bone. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the soft tissue includes articular cartilage. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein converting scan data to three dimensional images of the bone of the patient's anatomy includes converting the scan data to three dimensional images from a hip to an ankle. 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising: forming an area near the aperture thicker than an adjacent area of the first guide. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising: placing a second guide in alignment with the first guiding aperture of the first guide. 6. The method of claim 1, further comprising: drilling the first hole with the member, wherein the member is placed in the first hole while drilling the first hole. 7. The method of claim 6, further comprising: removing at least one of the first guide or the second guide while maintaining the member within the first hole. 8. The method of claim 7, further comprising: preparing the bone with the placed member in the first hole. 9. The method of claim 1, further comprising: preparing the bone with the placed member in the first hole. 10. The method of claim 9, wherein preparing the bone includes preparing a joint surface. 11. The method of claim 1, further comprising: performing a procedure relative to a surface of the knee joint anatomy after placing the member. 12. The method of claim 1, further comprising: determining a placement of the first hole based on at least one of an initial surgical plan or a final surgical plan based on incrementally manipulating the position of images in an interactive image form; andapproving at least one of the initial surgical plan or the final surgical plan. 13. A method for accessing a portion of a bone of a patient relative to a soft tissue on a surface of the bone, comprising: determining placement a guide relative to a joint surface of a knee joint anatomy based on converted scan data to three dimensional images of the bone of the patient including the knee joint anatomy including images of a knee joint surface of at least a distal femur bone with or without the associated soft tissue on the surface of the bone; mating a patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface of the guide onto a corresponding three-dimensional surface of the distal femur bone, the patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface preoperatively configured from the three dimensional images of the distal femur bone; drilling a first hole at a selected location into the distal femur bone relative to the knee joint surface through a first guiding aperture of the guide; placing a member in the first hole into the bone near the knee joint surface; and preparing the bone with the placed member in the first hole, including preparing a portion of the distal femur relative to the knee joint surface, wherein drilling the first hole into the bone surface through the first guiding aperture of the guide includes drilling the first hole through the first guide aperture that is at least one of positioned on an anterior-medial side of the femur or an anterior-lateral side of the femur. 14. The method of claim 13, further comprising: performing a procedure relative to a surface of the knee joint anatomy after placing the member. 15. The method of claim 13, wherein mating a patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface of the guide onto a corresponding three-dimensional surface of the distal femur bone includes positioning at least the first guide aperture relative to at least one of an anterior-medial side of the distal femur or an anterior side of the distal femur. 16. The method of claim 13, further comprising: guiding a patient-specific procedure through a cutting block determined by a preoperative configuring of the first guiding aperture on the guide to correspond to the patient-specific procedure. 17. The method of claim 16, further comprising: a second guide aperture defined by the guide. 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising: performing the patient-specific procedure including a resection of the femur. 19. A method for accessing a portion of a bone of a patient relative to a soft tissue on a surface of the bone, comprising: determining placement a guide relative to a knee joint surface based on a converted scan data to three dimensional images of the bone of the patient, wherein the bone includes a distal femur and the scan data includes images of the knee joint surface of at least the distal femur with or without a soft tissue associated with the knee joint surface;mating a patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface of the guide onto a corresponding three-dimensional surface of the knee joint surface, the patient-specific three-dimensional curved inner surface preoperatively configured from the three dimensional images of the distal femur bone;forming at least a first hole at a selected location into the distal femur bone relative to the knee joint surface through a first guiding aperture of the guide, wherein the first guiding aperture is positioned relative to the distal femur based at least on the determined placement of the guide;placing a member in the first hole formed into the bone near the knee joint surface; andpreparing the bone with the placed member in the first hole, including: guiding a patient-specific procedure with the placed member as determined by a preoperative configuring of the first guiding aperture on the guide to correspond to the patient-specific procedure, andpreparing a portion of the distal femur relative to the knee joint surface and performing a procedure relative to the knee joint surface after placing the member. 20.
