Various techniques are described for controlling a wager-based game played at a gaming system. In one embodiment the gaming system may include a gesture input interface device operable to detect movements gestures associated with one or more persons, and a gesture interpretation component operable to identify selected movements or gestures detected by the gesture input interface device. In one embodiment, the gesture interpretation component may also be operable to generate gesture interpretation information relating to interpretation of the selected movements or gestures. In one embodiment, the gaming system may be operable to automatically detect a gesture by a player participating in a game session at the gaming system; interpret the gesture with respect to a set of criteria; generate gesture interpretation information relating to the interpretation of the gesture; and advance a state of the game session using at least a portion of the gesture interpretation information.

The device of claim 1, wherein the plurality of designated gestures includes a first designated gesture and a different second designated gesture, and wherein the controller is configured to: determine whether the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the first designated gesture or the second designated gesture;responsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the first designated gesture: determine a first game input associated with said first designated gesture, determine at least one first aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined first game input, andcause a modification of the determined at least one first aspect of the play of the game; andresponsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the second designated gesture: determine a second game input associated with said second designated gesture, determine at least one second different aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined second game input, andcause a modification of the determined at least one second aspect of the play of the game. 3. The device of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to enable, via an input device, a player to associate one of the plurality of designated gestures with one of the plurality of game inputs. 4. The device of claim 1, wherein, for a first designated gesture: said first designated gesture is associated with a first game input when the play of the game is in a first game state, andsaid first designated gesture is associated with a second different game input when the play of the game is in a second different game state. 5. The device of claim 1, wherein, for a first designated gesture: said first designated gesture is associated with a first game input when the game is a first game, andsaid first designated gesture is associated with a second different game input when the game is a second different game. 6. The device of claim 1, wherein the detected motion of the housing includes one of: a single movement of the housing and a sequence of a plurality of movements of the housing. 7. The device of claim 1, wherein the determined at least one aspect of the play of the game includes a location of at least one displayed game object during the play of the game. 8. The device of claim 1, wherein the determined at least one aspect of the play of the game includes a game state. 9. The device of claim 8, wherein the controller is configured to cause the modification of the game state by changing a current game state to a different game state. 10. The device of claim 1, which is a mobile phone including a touch screen. 11. A method of operating a device, said method comprising: displaying, by a display device supported by a housing of the device, a play of a game;detecting, by at least one gyroscope supported by the housing, motion of the housing during the play of the game;analyzing, by a controller, the detected motion of the housing and determining, by the controller, whether the detected motion of the housing corresponds to any of a plurality of different designated gestures; andresponsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to one of the plurality of designated gestures: determining, by the controller, a game input associated with said designated gesture, said determined game input being one of a plurality of different game inputs;determining, by the controller, at least one aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined game input; andcausing, by the controller, a modification of the determined at least one aspect of the play of the game. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein the plurality of designated gestures includes a first designated gesture and a different second designated gesture, and which includes: determining, by the controller, whether the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the first designated gesture or the second designated gesture;responsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the first designated gesture: determining, by the controller, a first game input associated with said first designated gesture, determining, by the controller, at least one first aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined first game input, andcausing, by the controller, a modification of the determined at least one first aspect of the play of the game; andresponsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the second designated gesture: determining, by the controller, a second game input associated with said second designated gesture, determining, by the controller, at least one second different aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined second game input, andcausing, by the controller, a modification of the determined at least one second aspect of the play of the game. 13. The method of claim 11, which includes receiving, by an input device supported by the housing, a input from a player and associating, by the controller and in response to the received input, one of the plurality of designated gestures with one of the plurality of game inputs. 14. The method of claim 11, wherein, for a first designated gesture: said first designated gesture is associated with a first game input when the play of the game is in a first game state, andsaid first designated gesture is associated with a second different game input when the play of the game is in a second different game state. 15. The method of claim 11, wherein, for a first designated gesture: said first designated gesture is associated with a first game input when the game is a first game, andsaid first designated gesture is associated with a second different game input when the game is a second different game. 16. The method of claim 11, wherein the detected motion of the housing includes one of: a single movement of the housing and a sequence of a plurality of movements of the housing. 17. The method of claim 11, wherein the determined at least one aspect of the play of the game includes a location of at least one displayed game object during the play of the game. 18. The method of claim 11, wherein the determined at least one aspect of the play of the game includes a game state. 19. The method of claim 18, which includes causing, by the controller, the modification of the game state by changing, by the controller, a current game state to a different game state. 20. The method of claim 11, wherein the device is a mobile phone including a touch screen. 21. A device comprising: a housing;a display device supported by the housing;an accelerometer configured to detect motion of the housing; anda controller configured to: analyze the detected motion of the housing during a play of a game displayed on the display device and determine whether the detected motion of the housing corresponds to a designated gesture; andresponsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the designated gesture: determine a game input associated with the designated gesture, the determined game input being one of a plurality of different game inputs;determine an aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined game input; andcause a modification of the determined aspect of the play of the game. 22. A method of operating a device, the method comprising: displaying, by a display device supported by a housing, a play of a game;detecting, by an accelerometer, motion of the housing during the play of the game;analyzing, by a controller, the detected motion of the housing and determining, by the controller, whether the detected motion of the housing corresponds to a designated gesture; andresponsive to determining that the detected motion of the housing corresponds to the designated gesture: determining, by the controller, a game input associated with the designated gesture, the determined game input being one of a plurality of different game inputs;determining, by the controller, an aspect of the play of the game to modify based on the determined game input; andcausing, by the controller, a modification of the determined aspect of the play of the game. 23.
