A surgical instrument that may include a housing, a transducer engaged with the housing which can produce vibrations, and an end-effector engaged with the transducer. The surgical instrument can further include an adjustable sheath extending from the housing where the sheath is movable relative to the distal tip of the end-effector and where the distance between the distal tip of the sheath and the distal tip of the end-effector can be set such that the sheath can act as a depth stop. The sheath can be adjusted such that, when the distal tip of the sheath contacts the tissue or bone being incised, the surgeon can determine that the appropriate depth of the incision has been reached. In other embodiments, the end-effector can be moved with respect to the sheath in order to adjust the distance between the distal tip of the end-effector and the distal tip of the sheath.

The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said clamp member further comprises a jaw member moveably supported relative to said end effector, wherein said jaw member is moveable between an open position and a closed position. 4. The surgical instrument of claim 3, wherein relative movement between said inner tubular member and said outer tubular member causes said jaw member to rotate about a pivot. 5. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said outer tubular member includes a cavity extending therethrough, and wherein said inner tubular member is configured to be received within said outer tubular member. 6. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said end effector is configured to be detached from said transducer, and wherein said transducer is configured to receive a different end effector. 7. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said clamp member comprises a jaw member and a jaw connector connecting said jaw member to a pivot, and wherein said jaw member is detachable from said jaw connector. 8. The surgical instrument of claim 7, wherein said jaw member includes at least one deflectable leg, and wherein said jaw connector includes a recess configured to receive said at least one deflectable leg and retain said jaw member to said jaw connector. 9. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said proximal inner portion defines a first perimeter, and wherein said first inner mating member and said second inner mating member extend distally from first opposite portions on said first perimeter. 10. The surgical instrument of claim 9, wherein said distal inner portion defines a second perimeter, wherein said third inner mating member and said fourth inner mating member extend proximally from second opposite portions on said first perimeter. 11. A surgical instrument, comprising: a transducer configured to produce vibrations;an end effector operably engaged with said transducer, wherein said end effector defines an axis and a distal tip, and wherein said distal tip is movable relative to said axis by said vibrations produced by said transducer;a clamp member, comprising: a first connection portion; anda second connection portion spaced apart from said first connection portion;a tubular member comprising a proximal tubular portion and a distal tubular portion, wherein said proximal tubular portion and said distal tubular portion are operably couplable to each other, wherein said proximal tubular portion and said distal tubular portion are aligned with each other in a coupled configuration to permit the passage of said end effector through said tubular member, wherein said proximal tubular portion comprises a first proximal mating member and a second proximal mating member, wherein said distal tubular portion comprises a first distal mating member and a second distal mating member, wherein said first proximal mating member is releasably couplable to said first distal mating member, and wherein said second proximal mating member is releasably couplable to said second distal mating member; anda connector assembly, comprising: a first connector; anda second connector, wherein said first connector is configured to releasably and movably couple said first connection portion of said clamp member to said tubular member and wherein said second connector is configured to releasably and movably couple said second connection portion of said clamp member to said tubular member. 12. The surgical instrument of claim 11, wherein said vibrations include at least one of vibrations parallel to said axis, vibrations transverse to said axis, and vibrations torsional about said axis. 13. The surgical instrument of claim 11, wherein said clamp member further comprises a jaw member moveably supported relative to said end effector, wherein said jaw member is moveable between an open position and a closed position. 14. The surgical instrument of claim 11, wherein said end effector is configured to be detached from said transducer, and wherein said transducer is configured to receive a different end effector. 15. The surgical instrument of claim 11, wherein said clamp member comprises a jaw member and a jaw connector connecting said jaw member to a pivot, and wherein said jaw member is detachable from said jaw connector. 16. The surgical instrument of claim 17, wherein said vibrations include at least one of vibrations parallel to said axis, vibrations transverse to said axis, and vibrations torsional about said axis. 19. The surgical instrument of claim 17, wherein said clamp member further comprises a jaw member moveably supported relative to said end effector, wherein said jaw member is moveable between an open position and a closed position. 20.
