A multiprocessor system used in a home, or office environment includes multiple processors that run different real-time applications. A dynamic configuration system runs on the multiple processors and includes a device manager, configuration managers and data manager. The device manager automatically detects and adds new devices to the multiprocessor system, and the configuration manager automatically reconfigures which processors run the real-time applications. The data manager identifies the type of data generated by the new devices and identifies which devices in the multiprocessor system are able to process the data.

1. An audio system for a home, wherein the home has includes multiple processors operating as a multiprocessor system, comprising: a) a wired audio source coupled to the audio system;b) a processor and a display coupled to the the audio system;c) a wireless network sensor coupled to the processor and configured to inform the processor when it detects a new device brought into or proximate to the home, wherein the new device is a wireless audio source;d) speakers coupled to at least the audio system;e) a memory with stored program instructions that are executable to: (i) communicate with the wireless audio source,(ii) identify the wireless audio source from among a plurality of different types of wireless audio sources,(iii) indicate the type of the wireless audio source on the display, and(iv) make the wireless audio source available to the audio system to enable playing of audio information from the wireless audio source on at least one of the speakers; andf) an application management system configured to: (i) use a data manager to identify a particular type of data used in the wireless audio source and processed with a first software application controlled and operated by the wireless audio source;(ii) identify a second software application from among multiple different software applications located in memory in the multiprocessor network, wherein the second software application is currently not connected to the wireless audio source, and wherein the second software application is designed to process the same particular type of data processed by the first software application;(iii) configure a particular one of the processors to operate the second software application, wherein operating the second software application causes the particular one of the processors to take control and operation of the wireless audio source; and(iv) initiate transfer of data from the wireless audio source to the particular one of the processors and initiate processing of the particular type of data received from the wireless audio source with the second software application. 2. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the memory further includes stored program instructions that are executable to provide a user of the audio system with an option of connecting another wireless or wired audio source to the audio system. 3. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the wireless network sensor comprises a Bluetooth transceiver. 4. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the speakers comprise a wireless headset. 5. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the identity of the detected wireless audio source is indicated on the display as an iconic representation of the detected wireless audio source. 6. The audio system of claim 5 where the detected wireless audio source is either a cell phone, a home computer, MP3 player or a vehicle. 7. The audio system of claim 6 wherein the iconic representation indicates that the detected wireless audio source is either a cell phone, home computer or an MP3 player. 8. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the processor identifies the sensed wireless audio source from among a group of devices including at least a cell phone and an MP3 player. 9. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the wireless network sensor is located in the display. 10. The audio system of claim 1 wherein the wireless network sensor is 802.11. 11. A method for operating an audio system for a home, wherein the home includes multiple processors operating as a multiprocessor system, comprising: a) coupling a wired audio source to the audio system;b) coupling a processor and display to the the audio system;c) coupling a wireless network sensor to the processor configured to inform the processor when it detects a new device brought into or proximate to the home, wherein the new device is a wireless audio source;d) coupling speakers to at least the audio system;e) storing program instructions in memory that are executable to: (i) communicate with the wireless audio source,(ii) identify the wireless audio source from among a plurality of different types of wireless audio sources,(iii) indicate the type of the wireless audio source on the display, and(iv) make the wireless audio source available to the audio system to enable playing of audio information from the wireless audio source on at least one of the speakers; andf) configure an application management system to: (i) use a data manager to identify a particular type of data used in the wireless audio source and processed with a first software application controlled and operated by the wireless audio source;(ii) identify a second software application from among multiple different software applications located in memory in the multiprocessor network, wherein the second software application is currently not connected to the wireless audio source, and wherein the second software application is designed to process the same particular type of data processed by the first software application;(iii) configure a particular one of the processors to operate the second software application, wherein operating the second software application causes the particular one of the processors to take control and operation of the wireless audio source; and(iv) initiate transfer of data from the wireless audio source to the particular one of the processors and initiate processing of the particular type of data received from the wireless audio source with the second software application. 12. The method for operating the audio system of claim 11 wherein the memory further includes stored program instructions that are executable to provide a user of the audio system with an option of connecting another wireless or wired audio sources to the audio system. 13. The method for operating the audio system of claim 11 wherein the wireless network sensor comprises a Bluetooth transceiver. 14. The method for operating the audio system of claim 11 wherein the speakers comprise a wireless headset. 15. The method for operating the audio system of claim 11 wherein the identity of the detected wireless audio source is indicated on the display as an iconic representation of the detected wireless audio source. 16. The method for operating the audio system of claim 15 where the detected wireless audio source is either a cell phone, a home computer, MP3 player or a vehicle. 17. The method for operating the audio system of claim 16 wherein the iconic representation indicates that the detected wireless audio source is either a cell phone, home computer, or an MP3 player. 18. The method for operating the audio system of claim 11 wherein the processor identifies the sensed wireless audio source from among a group of devices including at least a cell phone, and an MP3 player. 19. The method for operating the audio system of claim 11 wherein the wireless network sensor is located in the display. 20.
