Embodiments described herein relate to an analyte monitoring device having a user interface with a display and a plurality of actuators. The display is configured to render a plurality of display screens, including a home screen and an alert screen. The home screen is divided into a plurality of simultaneously displayed panels, with a first panel displays a rate of change of continuously monitored analyte levels in interstitial fluid, a second panel simultaneously displays a current analyte level and an analyte trend indicator, and a third panel displays status information of a plurality of components of the device. When an alarm condition is detected, the display renders the alert screen in place of the home screen, the alert screen displaying information corresponding to the detected alarm condition. Furthermore, the actuators are configured to affect further output of the analyte monitoring device corresponding to the detected condition.

1. A system, comprising: an analyte sensor for positioning in fluid contact with bodily fluid under a skin surface to measure analyte levels;sensor electronics operatively coupled to the analyte sensor to receive signals corresponding to the measured analyte levels; anda receiving device communicatively coupled to the sensor electronics, the receiving device configured to: receive analyte information corresponding to the measured analyte levels;determine a set of historical analyte levels each measured at a corresponding point in time based on the analyte information;define a trigger window including the corresponding points in time of the historical analyte levels;define a range of acceptable analyte values;compare the historical analyte levels to the trigger window based at least on the range of acceptable analyte values; anddetermine whether an episode of changing analyte level is present based on the comparison of the historical analyte levels to the trigger window. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the receiving device is further configured to provide an alert including a recommendation for a user to take a corrective action relating to a therapeutic treatment on a display to the user when the episode of changing analyte levels is determined to be present. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the acceptable analyte values are analyte levels, and wherein the range of acceptable analyte values is a range of acceptable analyte levels. 4. The system of claim 3, wherein the receiving device is configured to associate each of the corresponding points in time of the historical analyte levels with an individual subrange of acceptable analyte levels of the range of acceptable analyte levels. 5. The system of claim 4, wherein the set of historical analyte levels includes a most recent analyte level measured at a most recent point in time, and wherein the receiving device is configured to associate each of the corresponding points in time of the historical analyte levels with the individual subrange of acceptable analyte levels so that corresponding points in time which are further away from the most recent point in time are associated with individual subranges which are larger than the individual subranges associated with corresponding points in time which are closer to the most recent point in time. 6. The system of claim 5, wherein the receiving device is configured to compare the historical analyte levels to the trigger window by determining, for each analyte level of the set of historical analyte levels, in an order starting with the most recent analyte level and finishing with a least recent analyte level, whether the analyte level is within the individual subrange associated with the corresponding point in time of the analyte level, until it is determined that a specific analyte level of the set of historical analyte levels is not within the subrange associated with the corresponding time of the specific analyte level; and wherein determining that the episode of changing analyte level is present comprises determining that the specific analyte level of the set of historical analyte levels is not within the individual subrange associated with the corresponding time of the specific analyte level. 7. The system of claim 1, wherein the analyte sensor includes a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode comprising an analyte-responsive enzyme. 8. The system of claim 7, wherein the enzyme is bound to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 9. The system of claim 7, wherein the working electrode comprises a mediator. 10. The system of claim 9, wherein the mediator is bound to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 11. The system of claim 9, wherein the mediator is crosslinked with a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 12. The system of claim 1, wherein the analyte sensor includes a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode comprising a mediator. 13. The system of claim 12, wherein the mediator is bound to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 14. The system of claim 12, wherein the mediator is crosslinked with a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 15. The system of claim 1, wherein the receiving device is configured to compare the historical analyte levels to the trigger window by using an outer limit range to exclude historical analyte levels outside of the outer limit range.
