The assembly of claim 1, wherein the dressing further comprises a first surface having an adhesive region. 3. The assembly of claim 2, wherein the first surface of the dressing comprises an adhesive backing interfacing the adhesive region on the dressing. 4. The assembly of claim 2, wherein the second surface of the second support structure comprises a protective liner that is covering the adhesive region of the dressing when the second support structure is in the first position and is separated from the adhesive region when the second support structure is in the second position. 5. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the tensioning structure comprises a sheet of material less elastic than the dressing in a tensioning direction. 6. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising a tensioning structure coupling the first edge region of the dressing to the first support structure. 7. The assembly of claim 6, wherein the tensioning structure comprises a material less elastic than the dressing in a tensioning direction. 8. The assembly of claim 7, wherein the dressing has a first width when the second support structure is in the first position and a second width when the second support structure is in the second position, wherein the second width is greater than the first width and wherein the dressing is strained at the second width. 9. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the second width is at least 20% greater than the first width. 10. The assembly of claim 8, wherein the second width is at least 40% greater than the first width. 11. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the first support structure comprises at least one relatively rigid structure and at least one relatively flexible structure, wherein the relatively rigid structure is sufficiently rigid to support the dressing when a straining force is applied in a first direction; and wherein the relatively flexible structure permits the first support structure to flex in a second direction. 12. The assembly of claim 11, wherein the at least one relatively rigid structure comprises a plurality of flexible coupled, relatively rigid structures. 13. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the second support structure comprises at least one relatively rigid structure and at least one relatively flexible structure sufficiently flexible to permit shaping of the second support structure. 14. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising a release device configured to release the dressing from the first support structure after the dressing is applied to a wound or skin of a subject while the dressing is in the strained configuration. 15. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the dressing comprises a first dressing attachment region attached to the first support structure; a second dressing attachment region attached to the second support structure; a first separation region configured to separate from the first dressing attachment region; and a second separation region configured to separate from the second dressing attachment region. 16. The assembly of claim 15, wherein the first dressing attachment region and the second dressing attachment region comprise a variable separation distance between the first dressing attachment region and the second dressing attachment region, and wherein a first distance from a center of the primary bending region to the first dressing attachment area is different from a second distance from the center of the primary bending region to the second dressing attachment region. 17. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the primary bending region is perforated. 18. The assembly of claim 17, wherein the first support structure is configured to detach from the second support structure and the dressing. 19. The assembly of claim 18, wherein the first support structure is configured to detach from the second support structure and the dressing while maintaining the dressing in the strained configuration. 20. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the dressing further comprises a therapeutic agent. 21. The assembly of claim 20, wherein the therapeutic agent is selected from a group consisting of an antibiotic, an anti-fungal, a corticosteroid and a non-steroidal immune modulator. 22. A dressing assembly, comprising: a first support structure having a first surface;a second support structure having a second surface opposite to the first surface with respect to a primary bending region, wherein the first support structure is movably coupled to the second support structure at the primary bending region, the primary bending region comprising a primary bending axis;an elastic dressing comprising a first surface having an adhesive region, a first edge region removably coupled to the first surface of the first support structure, and a second edge region removably coupled to the second support structure; andwherein the first support structure and second support structure are configured to move with respect to each other about the primary bending axis from a first position, wherein the second surface of the second support structure interfaces with and is substantially parallel to the first surface of the first support structure and the dressing is in a relaxed configuration, to a second position wherein the first support structure and second support structure are sufficiently rigid to exert a predetermined strain on the dressing in a strained configuration;wherein the second surface of the second support structure comprises a protective liner that is covering the adhesive region of the dressing when the second support structure is in the first position and is separated from the adhesive region when the second support structure is in the second position. 23. The assembly of claim 22, wherein the first surface of the dressing comprises an adhesive backing interfacing the adhesive region on the dressing. 24. The assembly of claim 22, wherein the first support structure comprises at least one relatively rigid structure and at least one relatively flexible structure, wherein the relatively rigid structure is sufficiently rigid to support the dressing when a straining force is applied in a first direction; and wherein the relatively flexible structure permits the first support structure to flex in a second direction. 25. The assembly of claim 24, wherein the at least one relatively rigid structure comprises a plurality of flexible coupled, relatively rigid structures. 26. The assembly of claim 22, wherein the second support structure comprises at least one relatively rigid structure and at least one relatively flexible structure sufficiently flexible to permit shaping of the second support structure. 27. The assembly of claim 22, further comprising a release device configured to release the dressing from the first support structure after the dressing is applied to a wound or skin of a subject while the dressing is in the strained configuration. 28. The assembly of claim 22, wherein the dressing comprises a first dressing attachment region attached to the first support structure; a second dressing attachment region attached to the second support structure; a first separation region configured to separate from the first dressing attachment region; and a second separation region configured to separate from the second dressing attachment region. 29. The assembly of claim 28, wherein the first dressing attachment region and the second dressing attachment region comprise a variable separation distance between the first dressing attachment region and the second dressing attachment region, and wherein a first distance from a center of the primary bending region to the first dressing attachment area is different from a second distance from the center of the primary bending region to the second dressing attachment region. 30. The assembly of claim 22, wherein the primary bending region is perforated. 31. The assembly of claim 30, wherein the first support structure is configured to detach from the second support structure and the dressing. 32. The assembly of claim 31, wherein the first support structure is configured to detach from the second support structure and the dressing while maintaining the dressing in the strained configuration. 33. The assembly of claim 33, wherein the at least one relatively rigid structure comprises a plurality of flexible coupled, relatively rigid structures. 35. The assembly of claim 33, wherein the second support structure comprises at least one relatively rigid structure and at least one relatively flexible structure sufficiently flexible to permit shaping of the second support structure. 36. The assembly of claim 33, further comprising a release device configured to release the dressing from the first support structure after the dressing is applied to a wound or skin of a subject while the dressing is in the strained configuration. 37. The assembly of claim 37, wherein the first dressing attachment region and the second dressing attachment region comprise a variable separation distance between the first dressing attachment region and the second dressing attachment region, and wherein a first distance from a center of the primary bending region to the first dressing attachment area is different from a second distance from the center of the primary bending region to the second dressing attachment region. 39. The assembly of claim 33, wherein the primary bending region is perforated. 40. The assembly of claim 39, wherein the first support structure is configured to detach from the second support structure and the dressing. 41.
