An emergency washing system in fluid communication with a water source and a water return, comprising: an emergency eyewash housing having an inlet for receiving water and at least one upwardly directed spray nozzle;a catch basin located beneath said spray nozzle and having a draining aperture for receiving water sprayed from said nozzle;a thermostatically controlled mixing valve including a body having a first water compartment and a second water compartment, said first and second compartments being separated by a support aperture therebetween, wherein said body does not place said first water compartment and said second water compartment in fluid communication;said first water compartment including an inlet for hot water and an inlet for cold water, both inlets being in fluid communication with a thermostatic cartridge valve, said first water compartment including outlet receiving mixed water from said cartridge valve;said second water compartment including a water return port for receiving water from the draining aperture and a drain for providing the received water to the water return; anda support arm having two ends with one end structurally could to the support aperture and the other end structurally coupled to said catch basin. 2. The system of claim 1 wherein said arm is slidably received by one of the support aperture or said basin and pinned to the other of said support aperture or said basin. 3. The system of claim 1 which further comprises a first water pipe providing fluid communication with said first water compartment outlet, a second water pipe providing fluid communication with said draining aperture, and said support arm, said first water pipe and said second water pipe are parallel. 4. The system of claim 1 wherein the support aperture has a cross-sectional shape the same as the cross-sectional shape of said arm. 5. The system of claim 4 wherein the cross-sectional shape is non-circular and resists rotation of said basin relative to the mixing valve body. 6. The system claim 1 wherein the slidably received end of said arm is affixed within said support aperture by a set screw. 7. The system of claim 1 which further comprises a multi-flowpath directional valve receiving water from the source and including an internal, movable valve member capable of directing the water to a first directional valve outlet and a second directional valve outlet; a shutoff valve in fluid communication with water from the first directional valve outlet and providing the water to the inlet of the emergency eyewash housing; anda draining conduit in fluid communication with the second directional valve outlet, said draining conduit being in fluid communication with the water return;wherein said movable valve member can be moved to a first washing position in which water is directed to the first directional valve outlet and the second directional valve outlet is shut off, or to a second flushing position in which the second directional valve outlet is open. 8. The system of claim 7 wherein said conduit includes a substantially transparent portion adapted and configured for viewing by a user. 9. The system of claim 7 wherein said directional valve cannot close both the first directional valve outlet and the second directional valve outlet simultaneously. 10. The system of claim 7 wherein said directional valve cannot shut off the first directional valve outlet. 11. The system of claim 7 wherein said directional valve is a ball valve manually adjustable to direct the water to the first directional valve outlet or to the second directional valve outlet. 12. The system of claim 1 which further comprises an electric water heater receiving water from the source and adapted and configured to provide heated water to the inlet for hot water. 13. The system of claim 12 which further comprises a flow control valve receiving mixed water from the outlet, said flow control valve being adapted and configured to limit the flow of mixed water therethrough to a substantially constant flow less than about two gallons per minute. 14. An emergency washing system in fluid communication with a water source and a water return, comprising: an emergency eyewash housing having an inlet for receiving water and at least one upwardly directed spray nozzle;a catch basin located beneath said spray nozzle and having a draining aperture for receiving water sprayed from said nozzle;a thermostatically controlled mixing valve including a body having a first water compartment and a second water compartment, said first and second compartments being separated by a support aperture therebetween;said first water compartment including an inlet for het water and an inlet for cold water, both inlets being in fluid communication with a thermostatic cartridge valve, said first water compartment including an outlet receiving mixed water from said cartridge valve;said second water compartment including a water return port for receiving water from the draining aperture and a drain for providing the received water to the water return; anda support arm having two ends with one end structurally coupled to the support aperture and the other end structurally coupled to said catch basin, said support arm being slidably received by one of the support aperture or said basin and pinned to the other of said support aperture or basin. 15. The system of claim 14 which further compriises a first conduit pipe providing fluid communication with said first water compartment outlet and a second conduit providing fluid communication with said drain. 16. The system of claim 14 wherein the support aperture has a cross-sectional shape about the same as the cross-sectional shape of said arm. 17. The system of clam 16 wherein the cross-sectional shape resists rotation of said basin relative to the mixing valve body. 18. The system of claim 15 wherein the slidably received end of said arm is affixed within said support aperture by a fastener. 19. The system of claim 15 wherein said body does not place said first water compartment and said second water compartment in fluid communication. 20. The system of claim 14 wherein said first water compartment receives hot water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure and cold water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure, and said second water compartment being at about ambient pressure. 21. An emergency washing system in fluid communication with a water source and a water return, comprising: an emergency eyewash housing having an inlet for receiving water and at least one upwardly directed spray nozzle;a catch basin located beneath said spray nozzle and having a draining aperture for receiving water sprayed from said nozzle;a thermostatically controlled mixing valve including a body having a first water compartment and a second water compartment, said first and second compartments being separated by a support aperture therebetween;said first water compartment including an inlet for hot water and an inlet for cold water, both inlets being in fluid communication with a thermostatic cartridge valve, said first water compartment including an outlet receiving mixed water from said cartridge valve;said second water compartment including a water return port for receiving water from the draining aperture and a drain for providing the received water to the water return; anda support arm having two ends with one end structurally coupled to the support aperture and the other end structurally coupled to said catch basin;wherein the support aperture has a cross-sectional shape the same as the cross-sectional shape of said arm, and the cross-sectional shape is non-circular and resists rotation of said basin relative to the mixing valve body. 22. The system of claim 21 wherein said arm is slidably received by one of the support aperture or said basin. 23. The system of claim 21 which further comprises a first water pipe providing fluid communication with said first water compartment outlet separated from a second water pipe providing fluid communication with said draining aperture. 24. The system of claim 21 wherein the slidably received end of said arm is affixed by a fastener. 25. The system of claim 21 wherein said body does not place said first water compartment and said second water compartment in fluid communication. 26. The system of claim 21 wherein said first water compartment receives hot water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure and cold water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure, and said second water compartment being at about ambient pressure. 27. An emergency washing system in fluid communication with a water source and a water return, comprising: an emergency eyewash housing having an inlet for receiving water and at least one upwardly directed spray nozzle;a catch basin located beneath said spray nozzle and having a draining aperture for receiving water sprayed from said nozzle;a thermostatically controlled mixing valve including a body having a first water compartment and a second water compartment, said first and second compartments being separated by a support aperture therebetween;said first water compartment including an inlet for hot water and an inlet for cold water, both inlets being in fluid communication with a thermostatic cartridge valve, said first water compartment including an outlet receiving mixed water from said cartridge valve;said second water compartment including a water return port for receiving water from the draining aperture and a drain for providing the received water to the water return; anda support arm having two ends with one end structurally coupled to the support aperture and the other end structurally coupled to said catch basin;wherein said arm is slidably received by the support aperture and the slidably received end of said arm is affixed within said support aperture by a set screw. 28. The system of claim 27 wherein said first water compartment receives hot water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure and cold water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure, and said second water compartment being at about ambient pressure. 29. The system of claim 28 wherein the inlet of said eyewash housing and the water return port of said second water compartment are generally parallel. 30. The system of claim 27 wherein the support aperture has a cross-sectional shape that resists rotation of said basin relative to the mixing valve body. 31. The system of claim 1 wherein said first water compartment receives hot water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure and cold water at a pressure higher than ambient pressure, and said second water compartment being at about ambient pressure.
