A method of providing welding-type power for a welding-type process, comprising: providing generated power using an engine-driven generator disposed in a housing of a welding-type power source;providing stored energy in an energy storage device disposed in the housing of the welding-type power source;deriving welding-type power from the generated power when the engine-driven generator provides sufficient power to perform a welding-type process;alternatively deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process; andmonitoring an engine generator parameter and changing from deriving the welding-type power from the generated power to deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy based at least in part on the monitored engine generator parameter;wherein the welding-type process is one of a metal inert gas (MIG) welding-type process, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding-type process, a shielded metal are welding (SMAW) welding-type process, a plasma-cutting process, an induction heating process, and an aircraft auxiliary charging process. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the generated power occurs when an engine of the engine-driven generator is at a first speed, and wherein deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy occurs when the engine is at less than the first speed. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the generated power occurs when the engine is at a full speed, and wherein deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy occurs when the engine is at an idle speed. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein monitoring includes monitoring an electrical engine generator parameter. 5. The method of claim 1, comprising ceasing deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator provides sufficient power to perform the welding-type process. 6. The method of claim 5, comprising starting deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, and the welding-type process is being performed. 7. The method of claim 5, comprising starting deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, and the welding-type process is being initiated. 8. A method of providing welding-type power for a welding-type process, comprising: providing generated power using an engine-driven generator disposed in a housing of a welding-type power source;providing stored energy in an energy storage device disposed in the housing of the welding-type power source;deriving welding-type power from the generated power when the engine-driven generator provides sufficient power to perform a welding-type process, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the generated power occurs when an engine of the engine-driven generator is at a first speed; andalternatively deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy occurs when the engine is at less than the first speed;wherein the welding-type process is one of a metal inert gas (MIG) welding-type process, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding-type process, a shielded metal are welding (SMAW) welding-type process, a plasma-cutting process, an induction heating process, and an aircraft auxiliary charging process. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the generated power occurs when the engine is at a full speed, and wherein deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy occurs when the engine is at an idle speed. 10. The method of claim 8, comprising monitoring an engine generator parameter and changing from deriving the welding-type power from the generated power to deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy based at least in part on the monitored engine generator parameter. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein monitoring includes monitoring an electrical engine generator parameter. 12. The method of claim 8, comprising ceasing deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator provides sufficient power to perform the welding-type process. 13. The method of claim 12, comprising starting deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, and the welding-type process is being performed. 14. The method of claim 12, comprising starting deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, and the welding-type process is being initiated. 15. A method of providing welding-type power for a welding-type process, comprising: providing generated power using an engine-driven generator disposed in a housing of a welding-type power source;providing stored energy in an energy storage device disposed in the housing of the welding-type power source;deriving welding-type power from the generated power when the engine-driven generator provides sufficient power to perform a welding-type process;alternatively deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process; andceasing deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator provides sufficient power to perform the welding-type process;wherein the welding-type process is one of a metal inert gas (MIG) welding-type process, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding-type process, a shielded metal are welding (SMAW) welding-type process, a plasma-cutting process, an induction heating process, and an aircraft auxiliary charging process. 16. The method of claim 15, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the generated power occurs when an engine of the engine-driven generator is at a first speed, and wherein deriving welding-type power from the stored energy occurs when the engine is at less than the first speed. 17. The method of claim 16, wherein deriving the welding-type power from the generated power occurs when the engine is at a full speed, and wherein deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy occurs when the engine is at an idle speed. 18. The method of claim 15, comprising monitoring an engine generator parameter and changing from deriving the welding-type power from the generated power to deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy based at least in part on the monitored engine generator parameter. 19. The method of claim 18, wherein monitoring includes monitoring an electrical engine generator parameter. 20. The method of claim 15, comprising starting deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, and the welding-type process is being performed. 21. The method of claim 15, comprising starting deriving the welding-type power from the stored energy when the engine-driven generator does not provide sufficient power to perform the welding-type process, and the welding-type process is being initiated.
