The glass composition of claim 1, wherein Al2O3 is 14-less than 20 weight percent. 3. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein MgO is 10-17 weight percent. 4. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein CaO is less than about 5 weight percent. 5. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein Na2O+K2O+Li2O is greater than 1 weight percent. 6. The glass composition of claim 5, wherein Na2O+K2O is less than about 0.5 weight percent. 7. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein Na2O+K2O is less than about 0.5 weight percent. 8. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein Li2O is about 0.4-about 2 weight percent. 9. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein SiO2 is at least 60 weight percent. 10. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is at least 3 weight percent. 11. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is up to about 8 weight percent. 12. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is up to about 5 weight percent. 13. The glass composition of claim 1, wherein ZnO is >0-4 weight percent. 14. A glass composition suitable for fiber forming comprising: SiO260-68 weight percent;Al2O314-19 weight percent;CaO5 weight percent or less;MgO10-16 weight percent;Na2O0-1 weight percent;K2O0-1 weight percent;Li2O0-2 weight percent;TiO20-2 weight percent;B2O30-3 weight percent;Fe2O30-1 weight percent;SnO20-4 weight percent;ZnO0-4 weight percent;at least one rare earth oxide in an amount not less than 1 weight percent; andother constituents 0-11 weight percent total. 20. The glass composition of claim 19, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is at least 3 weight percent. 21. The glass composition of claim 19, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is up to about 8 weight percent. 22. The glass composition of claim 19, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is up to about 5 weight percent. 23. The glass composition of claim 19, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide comprises at least one of La2O3, Y2O3, Sc2O3, Nd2O3, CeO2, Sm2O3, and Gd2O3. 24. The glass composition of claim 19, wherein ZnO is >0-4 weight percent. 25. The glass composition of claim 19, wherein SnO2 is >0-4 weight percent. 26. The glass composition of claim 30, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide is up to about 5 weight percent. 33. The glass composition of claim 30, wherein the at least one rare earth oxide comprises at least one of La2O3, Y2O3, Sc2O3, Nd2O3, CeO2, Sm2O3, and Gd2O3. 34.
