The system of claim 6, wherein the connector is at least one of a hook and loop fastener, snap, tape, zipper, magnet, spring, clip, fastec, safety pin, a strap, belt, adhesive, or a bonding agent. 8. The system of claim 1, further comprising a layer of soft armor, wherein the first pouch including first-aid equipment is located between the ballistic plate and the layer of soft armor. 9. The system of claim 1, wherein the protective vest comprises an aramid fiber. 10. The system of claim 1, wherein the first pouch comprises a malleable material capable of being sealed and a thickness of less than about 1 inch. 11.
