A beverage dispensing system with a base to which a dispensing head is removably attached without additional fasteners, wherein beverage forming liquids are supplied through a plurality of separate conduits in the base. Each base conduit has a normally closed valve that normally blocks fluid flow. The dispensing head has at least one passageway that receives liquid from an associated one of the base conduits. A projection associated with each dispensing head passageway opens the associated conduit valve to allow fluid flow from the base to the head. Dispensing valves in the dispensing head are independently accountable to regulate the dispensing of the beverage. In one version of the invention, four liquids are supplied to the dispensing head through the conduits, namely two liquid concentrates; carbonated water; and non-carbonated water. By selective opening of the dispensing valves, a plurality of beverages are formed from combinations of one or more of the liquids. A dispensing head for dispensing at least one carbonated fluid includes an inlet opening and an outlet opening at each end of a passage extending through a body, the inlet opening having a smaller cross-sectional area than the outlet opening.

The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the control circuit is configured to control the first solenoid valve and the second solenoid valve independently. 3. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the detachable dispensing head further comprises a third conduit and a third valve, wherein the third conduit is coupled to a third ingredient source for supplying a flavored ingredient, and wherein the third valve is configured to regulate the flow of the flavored ingredient through the third conduit. 4. The beverage dispenser of claim 3, wherein the control circuit is configured to control the third valve, and wherein the control circuit is configured to dispense the flavored ingredient from the dispensing nozzle in at least one of the first dispensing operation and the second dispensing operation by operating the third valve. 5. The beverage dispenser of claim 3, wherein the flavored ingredient is a flavored syrup or flavored concentrate. 6. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the control circuit is configured to dispense the carbonated water and the non-carbonated water simultaneously in at least one of the first dispensing operation and the second dispensing operation. 7. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the only water dispensed in the first dispensing operation is the carbonated water. 8. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the only water dispensed in the second dispensing operation is the non-carbonated water. 9. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the actuator comprises a lever pivotable between a first position and a second position, and wherein the control circuit is configured to monitor the pivotal state of lever. 10. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the first solenoid valve is seated in a first valve bore formed in the detachable dispensing head and the second solenoid valve is seated in a second valve bore formed in the detachable dispensing head. 11. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the detachable dispensing head is detachably coupled to a mounting block disposed on the base. 12. The beverage dispenser of claim 11, wherein the mounting block comprises a first passageway in fluid communication with the first conduit and a second passageway in fluid communication with the second conduit. 13. The beverage dispenser of claim 12, wherein the first passageway comprises a first poppet valve configured to prevent fluid from flowing from the first passageway when the detachable dispensing head is not coupled to the mounting block, and wherein the second passageway comprises a second poppet valve configured to prevent fluid from flowing from the second passageway when the detachable dispensing head is not coupled to the mounting block. 14. The beverage dispenser of claim 1, wherein the first ingredient source comprises a carbonator for carbonating the water. 15. A method of dispensing beverages, the method comprising: detecting the actuation of a switch at a control circuit configured to monitor the state of the switch, wherein the control circuit is mounted on a detachable dispensing head coupled to a base of a beverage dispenser such that the control circuit detaches from the base with the detachable dispensing head;sending a first electronic signal from the control circuit to automatically dispense a carbonated water through a dispensing nozzle in a first dispensing operation by operating a first solenoid valve in response to actuation of the switch, andsending a second electronic signal from the control circuit to automatically dispense a non-carbonated water through the dispensing nozzle in a second dispensing operation by operating a second solenoid valve in response to actuation of the switch. 16. The method of claim 15, further comprising dispensing a flavored ingredient from the dispensing nozzle in at least one of the first dispensing operation and the second dispensing operation by operating a third valve. 17. The method of claim 15, wherein the only water dispensed in the first dispensing operation is the carbonated water, and wherein the only water dispensed in the second operation is the non-carbonated water. 18. The method of claim 15, wherein the carbonated water and the non-carbonated water are simultaneously dispensed from the dispensing nozzle in at least one of the first dispensing operation and the second dispensing operation. 19. A beverage dispenser comprising: a base;a detachable dispensing head coupled to the base, the detachable dispensing head comprising: a first conduit coupled to a first ingredient source for supplying a first water and a second conduit coupled to a second ingredient source for supplying a second water,a first solenoid valve configured to regulate the flow of the first water through the first conduit,a second solenoid valve configured to regulate the flow of the second water through the second conduit,a dispensing nozzle in fluid communication with the first conduit and the second conduit, anda control circuit mounted on the detachable dispensing head such that the control circuit detaches from the base with the detachable dispensing head, the control circuit configured to selectively activate the first solenoid valve and the second solenoid valve in response to the actuation of a switch configured to regulate the discharge of the carbonated water and the non-carbonated water from the dispensing nozzle; andan actuator configured to actuate the switch, wherein the control circuit is configured to dispense the first water and the second water through the dispensing nozzle in response to actuation of the switch by operating the first solenoid valve and the second solenoid valve, respectively.
