The method of claim 2, wherein temperature of the switching device is directly related to the impedance of the operating coil. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein determining voltage at the operating coil comprises: determining duty cycle of a pulse-width modulated signal supplied to a switch that outputs the measurement current based at least in part on the pulse-width modulated signal; andmultiplying the duty cycle with a bus voltage supplied to the switch. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein make time of the switching device depends on the temperature of the switching device. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein make time of the switching device increases as temperature increases. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the switching device is a single pole, single current carrying path switching device, a single pole, multi current carrying path switching device, or a multi pole, multi current carrying path switching device. 9. A method comprising: determining, using a control circuitry, temperature of a switching device before a break operation, wherein determining temperature comprises:applying a hold-in current to an operating coil of the switching device, wherein the measurement current is sufficient to hold the switching device closed; anddetermining voltage at the operating coil when the hold-in current is applied, wherein the voltage at the operating coil is directly related to the temperature; anddetermining, using the control circuitry, when to reduce current applied to the operating coil to a break current based at least in part on the voltage at the operating coil, such that the switching device breaks at a desired time, wherein the desired time is based at least in part on a current zero-crossing when current conducted by the switching device is zero. 10. The method of claim 9, wherein determining temperature of the switching device comprises determining impedance of the operating coil based at least in part on the hold-in current and the voltage at the operating coil, wherein determining when to reduce the current to the break current is based at least in part on the impedance of the operating coil. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein break time of the switching device increases as impedance of the operating coil decreases. 12. The method of claim 10, wherein temperature of the switching device is directly related to the impedance of the operating coil. 13. The method of claim 9, wherein determining voltage at the operating coil comprises: determining duty cycle of a pulse-width modulated signal supplied to a switch that outputs the hold-in current based at least in part on the pulse-width modulated signal; andmultiplying the duty cycle with a bus voltage supplied to the switch. 14. A switching device system, comprising: a single pole switching device configured to make or break based at least in part on current supplied to an operating coil in the switching device; anda control circuitry configured to make or break the switching device at a desired time by:determining temperature of the switching device based at least in part on voltage at the operating coil; anddetermining when to a apply a pull-in current to make the switching device or when to apply a break current to break the switching device based at least in part on temperature of the switching device, wherein the desired time is based at least in part on a current zero-crossing when current conducted by the switching device is zero. 18. The system of claim 17, wherein the control circuitry is configured to determine temperature of the switching device by determining impedance of the operating coil based at least in part on the voltage at the operating coil. 19. The system of claim 17, wherein the control circuitry is configured to determine when to apply the pull-in current by applying a measurement current to the operating coil. 20. The system of claim 17, wherein the control circuitry is configured to determine when to apply the break current by applying a hold-in current to the operating coil. 21. The system of claim 17, wherein the control circuitry is configured to determine voltage at the operating coil by: determining duty cycle of a pulse-width modulated signal supplied to a switch that outputs the current to the operating coil; andmultiplying the duty cycle with a bus voltage supplied to the switch. 22. The system of claim 17, wherein make time and break time of the switching device depend on the temperature of the switching device. 23. The system of claim 17, wherein make time and break time of the switching device increase as temperature increases.
