The equipment rack set forth in claim 2, wherein the releasable latching assembly includes a detent configured to releasably lock the retractable pin in the extended position. 4. The equipment rack set forth in claim 3, wherein the detent is resiliently deflectable relative to the slide for permitting releasable locking of the retractable pin in the extended position. 5. The equipment rack set forth in claim 4, wherein the detent is cantilevered to the slide to permit the detent to resiliently deflect. 6. The equipment rack set forth in claim 1, wherein the horizontal panel has upper and lower faces and the at least one handle of the slide comprises a first handle and a second handle, the first handle being accessible from above the upper face of the horizontal panel and the second handle being accessible from under the lower face of the horizontal panel. 7. The equipment rack set forth in claim 1, wherein the frame further comprises a front upper side brace extending between and interconnecting the front uprights of the left and right pairs at the upper ends thereof and a back upper side brace extending between and interconnecting the back uprights of the left and right pairs at the upper ends thereof. 8. An equipment rack comprising: a frame assembly including a left upper side brace and a right upper side brace, the left and right upper side braces being spaced apart from one another and extending in a front-to-back direction with respect to the frame assembly, andfirst and second horizontal panel assemblies extending between the right and left upper side braces, wherein each of the first and second horizontal panel assemblies has a front side and a back side, the back side of the first horizontal panel assembly being adjacent the front side of the second horizontal panel assembly, the back side of the first horizontal panel assembly and the front side of the second horizontal panel assembly defining an opening extending vertically between the first and second horizontal panel assemblies,wherein the first and second horizontal panel assemblies are offset vertically with respect to each other. 9. The equipment rack set forth in claim 8, wherein the first horizontal panel assembly includes a panel body having opposite first and second faces, the first horizontal panel assembly configured to secure to the frame assembly in a first orientation in which the first face faces upward and in a second orientation in which the first face faces downward, the first and second horizontal panel assemblies defining said opening extending vertically between the first and second panels when the first horizontal panel assembly is secured to the frame assembly in the first orientation and not when the first horizontal panel assembly is secured to the frame assembly in the second orientation. 10. The equipment rack set forth in claim 8, wherein the first and second horizontal panel assemblies each include a panel body, the panel bodies having respective opposite first and second faces, the first and second horizontal panel assemblies including latches for securing the panel bodies to the frame assembly, the latches being secured to the first faces of the first and second panel bodies, the first horizontal panel assembly being oriented such that the respective first face faces upward, and the second horizontal panel assembly being oriented such that the respective first face faces downward. 11. The equipment rack set forth in claim 10, wherein the first horizontal panel assembly is configured to secure to the frame assembly in an inverted orientation in which the first face of the panel body faces downward. 12. A horizontal panel assembly for an equipment rack, the horizontal panel assembly comprising: a horizontal panel having opposite left and right ends;a retractable pin assembly secured to the horizontal panel, the retractable pin assembly including a slide and a retractable pin secured to the slide, the slide being slidably coupled to the horizontal panel to move the retractable pin between a retracted position with respect to the horizontal panel and an extended position with respect to the horizontal panel,wherein the horizontal panel has upper and lower faces and the retractable pin assembly includes a first handle and a second handle, the first handle being accessible from above the upper face of the horizontal panel and the second handle being accessible from under the lower face of the horizontal panel. 13. The horizontal panel assembly set forth in claim 12, wherein the slide is slidable on a track to move the retractable pin between retracted and extended positions with respect to the horizontal panel. 14. The horizontal panel assembly set forth in claim 12, wherein the retractable pin assembly includes a detent configured to releasably lock the retractable pin in the extended position. 15. The horizontal panel assembly set forth in claim 14, wherein the detent is resiliently deflectable relative to the slide for permitting releasable locking of the retractable pin in the extended position. 16. The horizontal panel assembly set forth in claim 12, wherein the panel has an opening permitting access to at least one of the handles via the opening. 17. An equipment rack comprising: a frame assembly including a left upper side brace and a right upper side brace, the left and right upper side braces being spaced apart from one another and extending in a front-to-back direction with respect to the frame assembly, andfirst and second horizontal panel assemblies extending between the right and left upper side braces, wherein each of the first and second horizontal panel assemblies has a front side and a back side, the back side of the first horizontal panel assembly being adjacent the front side of the second horizontal panel assembly, the back side of the first horizontal panel assembly and the front side of the second horizontal panel assembly defining an opening extending vertically between the first and second horizontal panel assemblies,wherein the first horizontal panel assembly includes a panel body having opposite first and second faces, the first horizontal panel assembly configured to secure to the frame assembly in a first orientation in which the first face faces upward and in a second orientation in which the first face faces downward, the first and second horizontal panel assemblies defining said opening extending vertically between the first and second panels when the first horizontal panel assembly is secured to the frame assembly in the first orientation and not when the first horizontal panel assembly is secured to the frame assembly in the second orientation. 18. The equipment rack set forth in claim 17, wherein the first and second horizontal panel assemblies include latches for securing the panel bodies to the frame assembly, the latches being secured to the first faces of the first and second panel bodies, the first horizontal panel assembly being oriented such that the respective first face faces upward, and the second horizontal panel assembly being oriented such that the respective first face faces downward. 19. A horizontal panel assembly for an equipment rack, the horizontal panel assembly comprising: a panel having opposite left and right ends;a retractable pin assembly secured to the panel, the retractable pin assembly including a slide and a retractable pin secured to the slide, the slide being slidably coupled to the panel to move the retractable pin between a retracted position with respect to the panel and an extended position with respect to the panel,wherein the retractable pin assembly includes a detent configured to releasably lock the retractable pin in the extended position. 20.
