The cover includes at least one electrically conductive pathway that extends from the distal end of the cover to form an electrically conductive pathway from the end effector conductor to a shaft conductor on the elongate shaft assembly while facilitating operation of the articulation joint. A surgical instrument, comprising: a handle assembly comprising a proximal portion and a distal portion detachably connected to the proximal portion;a modular shaft assembly detachably connected to the handle assembly, wherein the modular shaft assembly comprises an articulation joint;at least one electrical shaft conductor positioned within the modular shaft assembly;an end effector connected to the modular shaft assembly;a coupler assembly configured to be detachably coupled to the end effector and form an electrically conductive coupler pathway from an end effector conductor in the end effector to the articulation joint;an articulation joint conductor contacting the electrically conductive coupler pathway and traversing the articulation joint to contact the at least one electrical shaft conductor to form an electrically-conductive path therebetween, wherein the coupler assembly comprises a locking assembly configured to releasably lock the end effector to the coupler assembly, and wherein the locking assembly forms the electrically conductive coupler pathway from the end effector conductor to the articulation joint conductor;a motor housing assembly removably supported within the proximal portion of the handle assembly, wherein the motor housing assembly comprises: a plurality of electric motors; anda motor support configured to support the plurality of electric motors, wherein the motor support is configured to hold a first one of the electric motors and a second one of the electric motors parallel to one another relative to a longitudinal axis of the modular shaft assembly;a battery electrically couplable to the electric motors, wherein the battery is positioned within the proximal portion of the handle assembly;a control system electrically connected to the battery, wherein the control system is positioned within the proximal portion of the handle assembly and is configured to control operation of the plurality of electric motors; anda visual display in signal communication with the control system. 2. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the plurality of electric motors are positioned within the proximal portion of the handle assembly. 6. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the motor support is further configured to hold a third one of the electric motors parallel to at least one of the first one of the electric motors and the second one of the electric motors. 7. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the control system comprises a plurality of control circuits corresponding to the plurality of electric motors. 8. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the visual display comprises a light emitting diode. 9. A surgical instrument, comprising: a handle assembly;a modular shaft assembly detachably connected to the handle assembly, wherein the modular shaft assembly comprises an articulation joint and a rotatable end effector;at least one electrical shaft conductor positioned within the modular shaft assembly;a coupler assembly configured to be detachably coupled to the rotatable end effector and form an electrically conductive coupler pathway from an end effector conductor in the rotatable end effector to the articulation joint;an articulation joint conductor contacting the electrically conductive coupler pathway and traversing the articulation joint to contact the at least one electrical shaft conductor to form an electrically-conductive path therebetween, wherein the coupler assembly comprises a locking assembly configured to releasably lock the rotatable end effector to the coupler assembly, and wherein the locking assembly forms the electrically conductive coupler pathway from the end effector conductor to the articulation joint conductor;a motor housing assembly removably supported within the handle assembly, wherein the motor housing assembly comprises: a plurality of electric motors; anda motor support configured to support the plurality of electric motors, wherein the motor support is configured to hold a first one of the electric motors and a second one of the electric motors parallel to one another relative to a longitudinal axis of the modular shaft assembly;a power source electrically couplable to each of the electric motors, wherein the power source is positioned within the handle assembly;a control system electrically connected to the power source, wherein the control system is positioned within the handle assembly and is configured to control operation of the plurality of electric motors; anda visual display in signal communication with the control system. 10. The surgical instrument of claim 9, wherein the handle assembly comprises a first portion and a second portion detachably connected to the first portion. 11. The surgical instrument of claim 9, wherein the motor support is further configured to hold a third one of the electric motors parallel to at least one of the first one of the electric motors and the second one of the electric motors. 12. The surgical instrument of claim 9, wherein the power source comprises a battery. 13. The surgical instrument of claim 9, wherein the control system comprises a plurality of control circuits corresponding to the plurality of electric motors. 14. A surgical instrument, comprising: a handle assembly comprising a first portion and a second portion detachably connected to the first portion;a modular shaft assembly detachably connected to the handle assembly;an end effector;an articulation joint configured to operably couple the end effector to the modular shaft assembly;a coupler assembly configured to be detachably coupled to the end effector and form an electrically conductive coupler pathway from an end effector conductor in the end effector to the articulation joint;an articulation joint conductor contacting the electrically conductive coupler pathway and traversing the articulation joint to contact an electrical shaft conductor in the modular shaft assembly to form an electrically-conductive path therebetween, wherein the coupler assembly comprises a locking assembly configured to releasably lock the end effector to the coupler assembly, and wherein the locking assembly forms the electrically conductive coupler pathway from the end effector conductor to the articulation joint conductor;a motor housing assembly removably insertable into the first portion of the handle assembly, wherein the motor housing assembly comprises: a plurality of electric motors; anda motor support configured to support the electric motors;a battery electrically couplable to the electric motors, wherein the battery is positioned within the handle assembly;a control system electrically connected to the battery, wherein the control system is positioned within the handle assembly and is configured to control operation of the electric motors; anda visual display in signal communication with the control system. 15. The surgical instrument of claim 14, wherein the motor support is further configured to hold: a first one and a second one of the electric motors parallel to one other relative to a longitudinal axis of the modular shaft assembly; anda third one of the electric motors, wherein the third one of the electric motors is parallel to at least one of the first one of the electric motors and the second one of the electric motors. 16. The surgical instrument of claim 14, wherein the control system comprises a plurality of control circuits corresponding to the plurality of electric motors.
