A collapsible containment apparatus (36) with a first hub (21), a second hub (22), a plurality of articulated arms (23, 25) coupled to the first hub (21), a plurality of support arms (24) coupled to both the second hub (22) and the articulated arms (23), and a flexible canopy (73) carried by the art
A collapsible containment apparatus (36) with a first hub (21), a second hub (22), a plurality of articulated arms (23, 25) coupled to the first hub (21), a plurality of support arms (24) coupled to both the second hub (22) and the articulated arms (23), and a flexible canopy (73) carried by the articulated arms (23). The apparatus (36) is collapsed by relative movement of the two hubs (21, 22) away from one another, and deployed by relative movement of the hubs (21, 22) toward one another. When the apparatus (36) is deployed the canopy (73) creates a closed interior environment, which may be sterile.

1. A disposable infant incubator apparatus, comprising; (i) a collapsible frame comprising a first hub, a second hub, a plurality of articulated arms coupled to the first hub, a plurality of support arms coupled to both the second hub and the articulated arms, and further comprising a shaft connecting the first and second hubs, where one or both of the hubs are movable along the shaft,(ii) a flexible canopy connected to the collapsible frame, the flexible canopy comprising a plurality of sidewalls, a base, and at least one tube in at least one sidewall, wherein the collapsible frame is sized such that when it is in an expanded configuration, the flexible canopy forms a contained space with a closed microenvironment suitable for housing an infant; andwherein the at least one tube is configured to be in air or fluid communication with an exterior supply device to control the temperature and gas content of the microenvironment of the contained space. 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the articulated arms are pivotably coupled to the first hub and the support arms are pivotably coupled to both the second hub and the articulated arms. 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the canopy is at least in part transparent. 4. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein the canopy is made at least in part of a polymeric material. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the base comprises an outer layer that is impervious to fluids, and at least one layer inside of the outer layer that is constructed and arranged to absorb fluids. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a light source that provides light to the microenvironment of the contained space. 7. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising any of: an ultraviolet (UV) light source, a blue or infrared light source that is located so as to expose air in the contained space to the UV light, blue light or infrared light source. 8. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein the UV light source is located outside of the canopy in a volume that is fluidly coupled to the microenvironment of the contained space. 9. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising one or more sleeves coupled to the at least one of the plurality of sidewalls and extending into the contained space, the sleeves sized and shaped to accept an arm of a person. 10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein a sleeve comprises an elastic cuff that fits tightly over the lower end of the arm. 11. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising an air-lock sleeve coupled to the at least one of the plurality of sidewalls. 12. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the air-lock sleeve comprises mechanisms at each end that allow the sleeve to be selectively opened and closed at both ends of the sleeve. 13. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a releasable locking device that is engaged when the hubs are moved together. 14. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a reinforcement structure for the canopy that is either on or in the canopy. 15. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the canopy has an outer layer that is impervious to fluids. 16. The apparatus of claim 1, where the at least one tube is used for delivery of any one of: a gas, a liquid or a mist into the contained space. 17. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the base comprises a double layer. 18. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the double layer base comprises an inlet valve and an outlet valve, and where the double layered base is configured to create a temperature controlled mattress for the infant. 19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the temperature controlled mattress is configured for air or fluid circulation via the inlet valve and outlet valve. 20. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the inlet valve and outlet valve is in air or fluid communication with a source of heating or cooling fluid to provide heat insulation. 21. A disposable infant incubator apparatus, comprising; (i) a collapsible frame,(ii) a flexible canopy connected to the collapsible frame, the flexible canopy comprising a plurality of sidewalls, a base comprising a double layer, and at least one tube in at least one sidewall, wherein the collapsible frame is sized such that when it is in an expanded configuration, the flexible canopy forms a contained space with a closed microenvironment suitable for housing an infant;wherein the at least one tube is configured to be in air or fluid communication with an exterior supply device to control the temperature and gas content of the microenvironment of the contained space, andwherein the double layer base comprises an inlet valve and an outlet valve and is configured to create a temperature controlled mattress for the infant. 22. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising a light source that provides light to the microenvironment of the contained space. 23. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising any of: an ultraviolet (UV) light source, a blue or infrared light source that is located so as to expose air in the contained space to the UV light, blue light or infrared light source. 24. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the UV light source is located outside of the canopy in a volume that is fluidly coupled to the microenvironment of the contained space. 25. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising one or more sleeves coupled to the at least one of the plurality of sidewalls and extending into the contained space, the sleeves sized and shaped to accept an arm of a person. 26. The apparatus of claim 25, wherein a sleeve comprises an elastic cuff that fits tightly over the lower end of the arm. 27. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising an air-lock sleeve coupled to the at least one of the plurality of sidewalls. 28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the air-lock sleeve comprises mechanisms at each end that allow the sleeve to be selectively opened and closed at both ends of the sleeve. 29. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the temperature controlled mattress is configured for air or fluid circulation via the inlet valve and outlet valve. 30. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the inlet valve and outlet valve is in air or fluid communication with a source of heating or cooling fluid to provide heat insulation. 31. The apparatus of claim 21, where the at least one tube is used for delivery of any one of: a gas, a liquid or a mist into the contained space. 32. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the canopy is at least in part transparent, or has an outer layer that is impervious to fluids, or both. 33.
