A mounting system capable of mounting objects to support structures. The mounting system includes a wall mount including a display bracket configured to hold the object, a fixed support bracket coupleable to a vertical support structure, and a linkage assembly. The linkage assembly has a low-profile stowed configuration in which the object is held in a raised position close to the support structure. The linkage assembly moves to another configuration to move the object. The object can be held in a lowered position. A biasing mechanism can facilitate convenient movement of the object.

1. A mounting system comprising: a television bracket;a fixed support bracket;an upper member rotatably coupled to the television bracket and the fixed support bracket, wherein the upper member rotates relative to the television bracket and the fixed support bracket when the television bracket is moved from a raised position for holding a television above a fireplace to a lowered position for holding the television in front of the fireplace;a lower member rotatably coupled to the television bracket and the fixed support bracket, wherein the lower member rotates relative to the television bracket and the fixed support bracket when the television bracket is moved from the raised position to the lowered position; anda counterbalance mechanism including at least one piston, wherein at least a portion of the upper member and at least a portion of the lower member move away from the at least one piston when the television bracket is moved from the raised position to the lowered position, andan adjustment mechanism connected to the fixed support bracket, the adjustment mechanism including a carriage pivotably coupled to an end of least one piston, wherein the carriage sides along a bracket of the fixed support bracket such that the carriage translates vertically to translate the end of the at least on piston along the fixed support bracket to position the end of the at least one piston at a first position to provide a first counterbalancing force, the adjustment mechanism is operable to move the end of the at least one piston to a second position to provide a second counterbalancing force. 2. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the adjustment mechanism has a fixed state for holding the end of the at least one piston translationally fixed relative to the fixed support bracket. 3. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the fixed support bracket is configured to be located above the fireplace such that most of the television bracket in the raised position is located higher than the fixed support bracket. 4. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the upper member and the lower member move next to one another when the television bracket moves to the raised position. 5. The mounting system of claim 1, further comprising: an upper outer pivot coupling an outer end of the upper member to the television bracket;a lower outer pivot coupling an outer end of the lower member to the television bracket;an upper inner pivot coupling an inner end of the upper member to the fixed support bracket; anda lower inner pivot coupling an inner end of the lower member to the fixed support bracket. 6. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the adjustment mechanism includes a rod held by a bracket coupled to the fixed support bracket; andwherein the carriage engages the rod such that rotation of the rod relative to the bracket causes translation of the carriage. 7. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the adjustment mechanism is configured to gradually move the at least one piston to adjust the counterbalancing force provided by the counterbalance mechanism. 8. A mounting system, comprising: a display bracket configured to hold a television;a fixed support bracket;an upper member and a lower member each rotatably coupled to the display bracket and the fixed support bracket such that the display bracket is movable from a raised position to a lowered position, wherein a top portion of the display bracket is lower than a top portion of the fixed support bracket when the display bracket is in the lowered position; anda counterbalance mechanism configured to provide a counterbalancing force, the counterbalance mechanism including at least one piston, andan adjustment mechanism coupled to the fixed support bracket, the adjustment mechanism includes a carriage coupled to a first end of the at least piston, wherein the carriage translates vertically along the fixed support bracket to change a length of the at least one piston while the display bracket is held substantially stationary, wherein the carriage is configured to be held at a set vertical position while the display bracket is moved between the raised and lowered positions. 9. The mounting system of claim 8, wherein translation of the carriage changes the length of the at least one piston. 10. The mounting system of claim 8, wherein the upper member and the lower member move laterally adjacent to one another when the display bracket is moved from the lowered position to the raised position. 11. The mounting system of claim 8, wherein the upper member and the lower member rotate relative to the fixed support bracket at least about 90 degrees when the display bracket moves from the raised position to the lowered position. 12. A mounting system, comprising: a television bracket configured to hold a television;a fixed support bracket;a linkage assembly including an upper member and a lower member pivotally coupled to the television bracket and the fixed support bracket such that the television bracket is movable from a raised position to a lowered position below the fixed support bracket; anda counterbalance mechanism coupled to the fixed support bracket and including at least one piston having a fixed bracket end and an opposing end, and a slider coupled to the fixed bracket end of the least one piston, wherein a main body of the slider is held rotationally fixed while the slider translates between a raised position and a lowered position to adjust a length of the least one piston. 13. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the slider slidably contacts a bracket of the fixed support bracket, wherein the slider is held captive by the bracket to inhibit rotation of the slider while the slider translates vertically along the bracket. 14. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the linkage assembly collapses when the television bracket is raised to position the television at the raised position. 15. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the counterbalance mechanism is configured to counterbalance a television weighing at least 20 lbs. 16. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the mounting system is configured to adjust tilt of the television bracket independent of a counterbalancing force provided by the counterbalance mechanism. 17. The mounting system of claim 12, further comprising a swivel mechanism that allows swiveling of the television bracket relative to the linkage assembly. 18. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the slider is captively held between sidewalls of a bracket of the fixed support bracket. 19. The mounting system of claim 12, further comprising a bracket of the fixed support bracket that includes slots configured to guide movement of the slider. 20. The mounting system of claim 12, wherein the counterbalance mechanism is configured to translate the slider a preset vertical distance to provide a counterbalancing force equal to or greater than about 40 lbs. 21.
