1. Development of functional foods material using abalone
- The best way of extraction process is to extract 2-4 hours at 40℃ using freeze dried abalone(the whole of abalone) with 100 % ethanol.
2. Development result of functional cosmetic material using abalone
- DPPH radical scavenging activity highly records 95 point in 0.01% sample when abalone is fermented using Pleurotus abalonusHan mycelium
- When abalone is fermented with Pleurotus abalonusHan mycelium, the growth rate of strain and effectiveness is best through fermentation for 3days under the optimum condition (Temperature 24~28℃, Quantity of airflow 0.4~0.8vvm, Churn speed 100~140 RPM) after inoculating at 15%(v/v) immunization rate.
3. Biologically active component analysis of functional material using abalone
3-1. Component analysis result of functional foods material using abalone
-As the analysis result, the fermented extract of the whole abalone (Sample 6) has the highest content of Chondrodite sulfate acid as index component at 21.01%. But, In case of sample 6, it's very difficult to be applied because of precipitation and separation in layers. So, we selected and applied sample 5 which is effective from efficacy assessment data to the product.
3-2. Component analysis result of functional cosmetic material using abalone
-As the analysis result, the fermented extract of the abalone species (Sample 2) has the highest content of Chondrodite sulfate acid as index component at 16.85%.
4. Efficacy assessment result of functional material using abalone (In vitro)
4-1. Anti-oxidant assessment result of functional material using abalone
- There is high elimination activity on cosmetic group sample no. 2,4 and food group sample no. 6,8 through DPPH, ABST radical elimination activity and reductibility(Fe3+ to Fe2+) result.
- There is high inhibition activity on food group sample no. 5,8 similar to ɑ-tocopherol through Linoleic acid oxidation inhibitory activity result.
- There is high stimulating activity more than B.H.T (62.5 ㎍/㎖) on food group sample no. 6,8 through SOD stimulating activity result.

4-2. Anti-inflammatory assessment of functional material using abalone
- There are anti-inflammatory effect in RAW 264.7 Cell by LPS(1 ㎍/㎖) after cell survival results on cosmetic group sample no. 3,4, food group sample no. 5,6.
- All of sample groups have inhibited NO production in RAW 264.7 Cell by LPS(1 ㎍ /㎖) except cosmetic sample no.2.
4-3. Liver protection effect assessment of functional material using abalone
- It is found there's liver cancer cell(HepG2 cell line) extinction effect in food group no. 5,7.
- It could be expected liver cancer cell extinction by slow growth and damage of HepG2 cell through increase of ROS production on all of food sample groups.
- There's increase of apoptosis by Hoechst 33342 staining on all of food groups.
4-4. Hypertension inhibitor assessment of functional material using abalone
-As a result of anti-ACE assessment, It's available to use as hypertension inhibitor in all of food sample groups.
4-5. Cytotoxicity test of functional material using abalone
- There's no toxicity in Fibroblast cell and melanoma cell and cell growth promoting effect in melanoma cell.
4-6. Anti-wrinkle and anti-aging function assessment of functional material using abalone
- There are increase of collagen secretion rate in all abalone extract and abalone fermentation extracts. It's available to use as functional cosmetic materials.
4-7. Whitening function assessment of functional material using abalone
- There's prevention effect of melanin synthesis through MSH on sample no.2.
5. Efficacy assessment results of functional material using abalone (In vivo)
5-1. There are increase of SOD vitality, CAT, GPx, decline of MDA content for acute liver toxic animal model by LPS in the liver protection effect test of functional material using abalone compare to control group on sample no.5. and as this result, there are liver recovery effect by removal of activated oxygen.
5-2. There are decline of MDA figure and increase of CAT, GPx vitality through ACE inhibiting and hypotensive effects test of functional material usiing abalone for hypertension animal by L-NAME compare to control group. There is impressive result of Anti-ACE in animal group taking abalone functional material. There is systolic and diastolic blood pressure reduction on sample no.7.
5-3. Anti-inflammatory effect result of functional material using abalone for inflammatory enteric disease animal by DSS, among incepting abalone functional material ① improvement similar to normal group in CD4+/CD8+ of spleen, MLN, PP lymphocyte ② Decline of IgA and IgE in serum, spleen, MLN, PP ③ Inhibition control of iNOS and COX-2 ④ Production decline of L-10, IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, T-bet, pSTAT1, STAT1, IFN-γ, GATA3, pSTAT6, STAT6, IL-4 ⑤ Anti-inflammatory and protection effect through decline of histological damage and lesions of inflammatory infiltration on sample no.5
6. Safety assessment of functional material using abalone
6-1. Eye irritancy test by HET-CAM
- There are no irritation after chorio-allantoic membrane stimulation test using oosperm upon abalone fermentation extract(sample no.2) 5%, 10%, 50%, 100%
6-2. 1st. Patch Test
- There is no irritation among 30 people except 1 after 1st. Patch Test with abalone fermentation extract(sample no.2) 100%
7. Standardization and Mass-production process establishment of functional material using abalone
- There are more than 3 times of Batch assessment to manufacture product. We've finished Standardization and Mass-produced process establishment.
- The product has been applied to functional foods and cosmetics prototype
Ⅳ-ⅱ. The result of development and prototype manufacturing of functional beverage product
1. The results of development of functional beverage with antioxidant effect
- The functional beverage (Hongsam Plus) have been developed using red ginseng as main ingredient with abalone extract(sample no.5), and according to the result index of component content, it shows the sum of ginsenoside Rg1, Rb1 and Rg3 is 10mg/50g, and it is suitable for the functional beverage.
2. The results of development of functional beverage for menopause men's health
- The functional beverage (Manpower(Red bottle)) have been developed using 'MR-10 Dandelion complex extract' as main ingredient with abalone extract(sample no.5), and according to the result index of component content, it shows Luteolin 0.0221mg/44g and Isoorientin 0.0613mg/44g. it is suitable for the functional beverage.
Ⅳ-ⅲ. Prototype manufacturing and Development of Functional Cosmetics
1. Research of cosmetics formulation and manufacturing process establishment.
- We developed and established the optimum manufacturing process of functional cosmetics(essence, cream, ampoule, moisture cream, cleansing foam) which contains fermented abalone extract(sample no.2) based on various cosmetics formulation research.
2. Results of stability study of functional cosmetics
2-1. The variation of pH was lower than 5% for 10 weeks, therefore there is no problem with stability.
2-2. The variation of viscosity was lower than 5% for 10 weeks, therefore there is no problem with stability.
2-3. According to the result of the stability observation(4℃, 30℃ and 45℃ a thermostat) by the naked eye, there was no oil separation and flotation, therefore there was no problem with stability.
3. Results of the safety assessment of functional cosmetics
3-1. Trough the 1st patch test, we confirmed that erythema haven't appeared to all 10 subjects after 24 and 48 hours and the cosmetics which contains fermented abalone extract have no irritation and safe.
4. Results of the efficacy assessment of functional cosmetics.
4-1. Percutaneous water content increased in functional cosmetics containing fermented abalone extract.
4-2. Transepidermal water loss(TEWL) decreased in functional cosmetics containing fermented abalone extract.
4-3. The deviation of Percutaneous elasticity decreased in functional cosmetics containing fermented abalone extract.
5. Results of the clinical test of functional cosmetics(clinical assessment institution)
5-1. Trough the 24 hours primary skin irritant patch test in human, essence, cream, ampoule, moisture cream all have appeared non-irritating and has confirmed as safe products.
5-2. Through the efficacy assesment of 24 hours moisture persistency, cream and ampoule showed moisturizing effect. Also, it maintained a steady state without a sharp decrease even after 24 hours, so we expect its moisturizing effect even after 24 hours.
5-3. Through the efficacy assessment of eye rim wrinkle improvement, we found that there was significant difference from week 2, and we confirmed wrinkle improvement effect until week 2 and week 4.
5-4. Through the efficacy assesment of skin brightening test, it showed significant brightening effect on chin, forehead and cheeks
