[INTRODUCTION] The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence of degree of obesity on physical self-efficacy and body shape satisfaction in university male students in their twenties, which begin to concern about their appearances or weights. [METHOD] The subjects of this study consisted of 338 male university students. They were divided into three groups based on their body mass index(BMI); Normal-weight group(18.5-22.9), over-weight group(23-24.9), obesity group(25〉). The questionnaires was used to collect the data about their physical self-efficacy and body shape satisfaction. The one way ANOVA with LSD were used for the data analysis. [RESULT] For the physical self-efficacy, there was no significant difference in the perceived physical ability between three groups but physical self-expression confidence was significantly(p<.05) higher in normal-weight and over-weight groups than obesity group. The satisfaction for body shape was high in the order of normal, over-weight and obesity groups(p<.001). [CONCLUSION] On the results above, it was found that normal-weight group of university male students had the highest physical self-efficacy and lowest physical distortion in subjective self-evaluation. Weight-control is important to keep their psychological health and needed to start in the begin of twenties.
